The context was necessary to understand the answer. If he had gone straight to "The blight was a measure, one of many, that I've put in place to minimize the odds of the Nerevarine prophecy coming true." it would've necessitated further questions such that the entire story would've ended up being told anyway but instead of one neatly ordered and easy to follow recounting of the relevant events, you'd have multiple chunks of difficult to piece together lore tidbits presented over the course of not one but many, many hours. This interview, just like the original, gives us a good insight into the thought process of the interviewee; whether we agree with their interpretation of the events, or the conclusions they've come to, or the measures they've implemented is for us to decide. Dagoth Ur's goal here wasn't to convince you to join his cause, or to feel sympathy for him. He merely wanted to present his side of the story and it's great that Tucker afforded him that opportunity.
