Everything about this song is beautifully unique and different. Massive cake fan, first introduced a good five years ago and never stopped listening to them, never will. Update : 2023 - I was lucky enough to see this awesome band live in Glasgow in 2019 will never forget it. Still come back to Comfort Eagle after all these years - was the tune that got me hooked on Cake
"We're behind you, we're behind you, and let us please remind you: we can send a car to find you if you ever lose your way." I have no idea why this gives me chills every time.
Dylan Keopraseuth such a paranoia-inducing vibe throughout this song. It's like 1984 but with even more of an "everything's fine, we're just looking out for you" façade
I think it's a metaphor for a kind of shadow government or the illuminati. Because they're constantly tracking your movements and course they would send a limo for you. The "cardboard shanties and tents" line is also an allusion to that to disguise their base of operations. I'm no conspiracy theorist, but it does make a lot of sense that the song would be about such hysterical insanities
a grew up on cake - my dad was a fan in the 90s & they were on rotation my entire childhood. im 23 now & a cake fan in my own right. I'm lucky to say I got to see them live a week ago & was so blown away. they're fabulous live performers, so powerful. i really wish they'd played this song though!
Your mssing on the very best. And even though this song is nice. There are way better songs out there. From metallica, rammstein, jimmy eat world, staind. I cant everyone but you need to listen to more rock.
How grand would it be to whip out a cover of this tune at a Joel Olsteen church revival. Finely dressed in a custom sheeps clothing suit, I see him for the wolf he is.
Alot of America's Mega Churches fit that role and they have turned God's temple into Marketplaces, the very thing that made Jesus CHRIST FURIOUS in His Day! When He comes back, He is not going to be happy with such institutions.
I think one thing cake is very underrated for is their Vocal Harmonies! They actually rock them quite gallantly, most noticeably on this and "Open Book".
I first heard this song on a video from a while ago now but didn't know the name of it till yesterday and I love it more knowing I don't have keep looking up the video I watched it just to listen to it :D
WTF are you even f-ing talking about. The lead singer got the LYRICS TO HIS OWN SONG WRONG, giving every "avid fan" the CRINGE feeling right around 3:00 (happens at 3:10 exactly). How would you then call it the "best PERFORMANCE ever"?
Can anyone tell me why this song is one you can never get out of your mind? Is it chord progression, syncopation, tempo, because im a play it by ear guy, not time signatures, I'm a layman, but any musically eloquent person/ instrumentalist w knowledge can explain the unusual progression or time signatures to me , because I'd like to know why it is so unfamiliar yet appealing structure? I'd be immensely grateful.. thanks in advance.. BCD et al. 🙏
Yeah I have been a massive massive fan of cake for a long time and the lyrics only stood out a few weeks back, makes me wonder if they are any more some what sub subliminal messages?
Matthew Park V Not at all subliminal, I don't see an attempt to conceal, what I take away with it in reading their lyrics is that they are completely aware and are simply sharing their awareness.
I always thought the lyrics were "we are widening the car doors". Can't say enough good things about this band, the were the first alt-rock group that I seriously got into. I would blare this song for hours, it was that damn good
Had to look up who this Zach guy is, to realise this is Zach freaking Galifianakis, the same guy who played Alan in The Hangover!! I don't believe it. Like, what?
best song live hands down. it sounds better live than they did in the studio. great post great song.
great (and very true) comment on a great post on a great song
Well really is nothing better then Cake live!
Up
Absolutely hands-down
I’m not lying this time=|
Imagine sitting in that room, not knowing that you were gonna have your mind blown by a band you'd never heard of before.
This is how I discovered Cake in 1995. They played a festival I was at. Blew my 17 year old mind.
That riff the way it builds(no pun intended
Not everyone cares about bands, y'know.
These guys remind me of when The Talking Heads came on board.
I just started binge listening to cake. Comfort Eagle is so damn fly
Blind melon is another hidden GEM of the 90s. (Soup) is 5stars front to back
One of their best songs no doubt. Pretty cool for a studio audience to give a standing ovation.
Baddest ass Cake song of all time.
You're not wrong brother.

@@l3lackStarLiner_GameBoy We can send a car to find you if you ever lose your way... we behind you
@@matthewparkv5004 I love it.. you responded to my post from 6 years ago..✌🏿
This song was written as a dig against Rick Rubin, the weird bearded guy that wore turbans and sheets.
Wow this song sounds great live.
This band is great Live. You can't find a shitty Cake performance on the interwebs.
Guitar work is definitely underrated. Great groove...
This intro is SO good, wish the album version had it.
"We're behind you, we're behind you, and let us please remind you: we can send a car to find you if you ever lose your way."
I have no idea why this gives me chills every time.
+Dylan Keopraseuth - Dude this gives me chills the whole way through this song is a portent of doom.
Dylan Keopraseuth such a paranoia-inducing vibe throughout this song. It's like 1984 but with even more of an "everything's fine, we're just looking out for you" façade
Dylan Keopraseuth because Uber didn't exist yet

Dylan Keopraseuth - best line in the song.
Undoubtedly the coolest song ever 😮
Turns out the vibraslap is the hardest core instrument you can weld as a lead singer
Never thought someone using a vibraslap could look that cool, haha
Vibraslapping corps
Christopher Walken cowbells
Builds culture of DUDE
The "we can send a car to find you if you ever lose your way" line...chills every time 🖤

this song goes so hard. i’m normally into rap but this song goes hardddd
The records sound good but they are KILLER live
Your mssing on the very best. And even though this song is nice. There are way better songs out there. From metallica, rammstein, jimmy eat world, staind. I cant everyone but you need to listen to more rock.
Hahaha such an accurate description. This song goes SO HARD (for whatever reason).
@@XIAXCInot everyone has to like what you like. Grow up.
@@XIAXCIchildish ahh taste my guy. Cake deserves more recognition than radio rock.
First time here. Wow. This is incredible.
Proper killer tune with and a exceptional live performance too.

I've never heard of late world with Zach before, but I'm glad this video exists
It got cancelled way too fast
Me encanta esta canción. Tiene distintas matices, pero todos están en armonía. Quién más de latino América que ama está canción ?
3 o 4 años después, yo xd
Thanks for posting this video. My favorite song by Cake.
Can't have Cake without the trumpet! As a brass player, my favorite part of each song.
It's a keyboard but very original 👌 I agree with u tho

This intro is mega, mega for vibraslap for the people to soothen the masses! Dont forget the onion-head hats!
this video has everything. my favorite cake song, and zach galifianakis.
Freaking great
That was badass! O,o Holy crap, I loved this band before I saw this, but I guess I never saw them live...WOW!
Tight! As usual! These guys are legends!!! 🔥
Always cool intros live! I wonder how many Vibraslaps McRea has worn out in the last 30 years.
Shallow Hal!!!
Cake sounds like happy fun music until you listen to it. Then it becomes brilliant
Thanks a lot Cake...
Damn, Louis C.K. can sing!
I think one thing cake is very underrated for is their Vocal Harmonies! They actually rock them quite gallantly, most noticeably on this and "Open Book".
amazing song---amazing group

God I love them so much
Cake. Hell yes.
I wanna live a life so hardcore it deserves this song as part of the soundtrack.
As of August 2021, 1.6K of us have taste.
Very nice
Thank you
Great song
Some bands are good. Some bands are so great! Cake is badass to the bone!
Such a classic jam

well objectively... a live performance where the singer is getting his lyrics wrong is NOT something one could classify as "best performance ever"
Give me more Cake!
So fun !!
Dude!!!!
This is an interesting song to listen to.
This is a great song reminds me of an old song called 'afterwards by Artery about 1977
Cool the channel !!! Subscribed + Like # 433 !!!! I am pleased to see the new video !!!! Always happy to new friends !!!!
Super piosenka. Pozdrowienia z Polski.
Great tune!
Cake rocks :D
Legendary. Epic!
Zach Galafaniknak had a late night show?
I'll be damned.
Brilliant band and amazing song. Real musicians always sound great live. I think he has a look of Micheal keating about him.
You're welcome, appreciate the comment :)
“Damn” Years later still brings it……
Coolest band of all time and I say that having seen Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Van Halen, Elvis and dozens of others.
Why do they not play this live anymore
Right on! Screw the huge Record Companies!! Go Cake!
Genius
Precision..... these lads got it
Memories....
That's what I'm talking about

Thx for this...I love Cake 😋

So hard to sing this song. Gotta time your breaths. 🥵
"we are building an Airline
to drag you out the plane..."
And the fluffy white lines
That the airplane leaves behind
Are drifting right in front
Of the waning of the moon
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

well you're just an idiot
Man, their drummer is awesome.
Unfortunately, the drummer in this video is a pedophile, his name is Pete McNeal. Todd Roper is their drummer now, and he's awesome too
Precision.... fucking fun to watch!
Kick ass. And it must be awesome to have such a famous band, but can still walk into the Piggly Wiggly for a gallon of milk.
I prefer this one over the album. So good.
This great beat of song make "I will survive" sounds so old...
