A 29 year old man, watching this with a knot in the throat and tears in the eyes. This movie is a masterpiece and one of the very few movies I can rewatch anytime.
Actually it won't. I think there is a rule that for a movie needs to play in the theatres for at least 7 days to be considered for the Oscars. If that's not the case, I would be sooo happy. For this is definitely among the best animated films I have watched.
WHAT THE-- So two things that really jumped out to me--the postman, the way he 'talks' with his hands...I'd seen that somewhere!!! And it hit me! Dr. Doppler from one of my favorite movies, Treasure planet!! And Klaus! He reminds me so much of Jethro from the equally beautifully animated movie, Prince of Egypt. And it's not just a coincidence--I did a wee bit of digging. Sergio Pablos is directing this film, he was the guy behind Dr. Doppler. And James Baxter, who worked on Prince of Egypt, has also helped animate this film. Both guys worked on many of Disney's Renaissance films. If this trailer wasn't convincing enough, I think we're all in for a rare treat.
Klaus has won the 7 awards he chose (including best film) at the Annie Awards, which are the Oscar for animation. Edit: they won the BEST animated in BAFTA today.

Wait a minute! Are you serious!? That's from the one who drew Trazan and Treasure Planet!?
No wonder I felt the character design, animation/movement was similiar.
I felt there's some Emperor's New Groove and Atlantis in it as well
Also, I think Meg (Hercules), Jim's mom (Treasure Planet), Jane (Tarzan) influence Alva's design
By far this competes with so many great Christmas movies and this is by far one of my favorites
This has become a Christmas tradition in our household. It’s such an underrated gem and a wonderfully heartwarming story.
This movie was totally handmade and drawn frame by frame. Just for that, it's a masterpiece. Congratulations
Whaaaaatttt. Wow
No, it had some 3D stuff in it and it was all mostly shaded by AI but yes, pretty much all the characters were hand-animated and well at that.
It has a 2D foundation for animation, with most if it being made by hand. The rest, like color and shade are strictly 3D.
@@retrodragon2249 No 3D and no AI. Just traditional image post-processing.
OP's comment about a movie being completely hand drawn reminded me of another movie that was completely hand drawing, granted it didn't have 3d animation which Klaus blends both quite well. The movie is called Redline and it is an anime about having a race around a planet.
My god just watched this beautiful masterpiece I almost cried simple beautiful this movie warmed my heart

Well is obviously 2d animation but it was most likely done with computers. The art design and character design is really good though.
Actually is 3D (CGI) animation but maked in the way that looks like 2D (no deep perception but still some 3D here and there) I love this way of doing it if they do it in the right way, this one is a must see
@@raidend I've checked Szymon Biernacki's Linkedin. They've been working on Klaus for almost 7 years. I guess it's enough to pay them respect for it.

@@raidend Raiden Drake It is this "old school animation". The last animation like this was "Princess and the frog" by Disney at it was way less advanced than Klaus. THE--
So two things that really jumped out to me--the postman, the way he 'talks' with his hands...I'd seen that somewhere!!!
