I am 60 so I watched as a child. But as an adult it became the show that my aging mom and I would watch together when she was in the nursing home . She is gone now and LHOTP always takes me back to both my childhood and memories of my mom❤
I used to sew and I made my little daughter a dress and apron and bonnet. She would wear it to watch the show every week. We also read the books that came out in a set. It was a great time and a wonderful program
Im 21 and my mum bought me the whole DVD collection of The Little House when I was 3. I have NOT stopped watching the show ever since. I will never get tired of it. I remember Almanzo was my very first tv crush 😂 thank you so much to everyone involved in the show for everything you’ve made me feel these past 18 years and beyond !!
There is so much crap on tv now a days that I love watching Little House. There is always a lesson to be learned..And people actually cared about each other..
I grew up with all of you. I'm 61. An OG. Actually watched on a black and white tv. A former farm girl from the Canadian prairies. I grew up in turn of the century house with only cold running water. No flush toilet. I had a cutter for a playhouse. Lol. Modern conveniences had arrived by the time I came to be; however, signs of the late 1800's were still everywhere. Little house filled in a lot of gaps for me. :) I related to all of your characters. Unbeknownst to all of you, you were my friends and extended family. My fav episode (that still to this day makes me sob uncontrollably) was "The Lord is my Shepherd." Where Laura is jealous of her new baby brother and blames herself when the baby soon dies. She heads up the mountain to be closer to god believing he could hear her better then.
I’m a 46-year-old mom of 3 in NC and still watch reruns all the time!!! My husband’s routine line “you’re watching this again?!” never gets old (and neither does seeing him get sucked right back in with me and watching all the reruns too!). Best show EVER!!!! 💗💗💗 Love the podcast! Can’t wait to keep watching and listening!!!
Where the episode's be on the TV, what is the website. I have been watching Little House on the Prairie since I was a little girl. I read most of the books and saved them now. My daughter has read them. I was three when I started watching Little House on the Prairie. I am now 52, and I watch with my family. We live in a beautiful town in Southern New Jersey. On behalf of our family, congratulations on celebrating 50 years of Little House on the Prairie .
I live in NC as well (native, actually)! I grew up watching Little House and will be 52 in November! I am watching Season 1 now on Amazon and NEVER get tired of the episodes. Best show ever!! 😂
I grew up watching reruns with my mom. I used to hear the theme from other rooms and come tearing into the living room to watch. I dressed up as Laura for a school trip in a one room school house complete with braids and a cute prairie dress, shoes and apron. My mom then proceeded to buy me all the seasons on DVD as a 20 something. Last year I audiobook listened to Alison's book and it was so touching and wonderful. I laughed a lot I cried a lot. I just wanted to thank the cast and crew of this wonderful show for blessing me with such wonderful memories from childhood
I have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that when I first started watching the show, during the original airing, we had three whole channels on TV to choose from. Now we are streaming shows with hundreds of channels to choose from, and we still watch the same show. That tells you the quality of Little House and the actors who brought us this wonderful show!
Lucky enough to have grown up with the original broadcast of Little house . I have not stopped watching 😌since . I own the DVDs and absolutely adore them. Laura and Almanzo’s romance , Nellie and Laura fights!😂Thank you all so much!!!❤❤
There’s an episode of Three’s Company where the trio makes a toast to Larry getting engaged and either Jack or Janet says “to Good Times”, another “to Happy days!” And Chrissy says “Little House on the Prairie!” 🤣
I love Little House on the Prairie! I can literally watch it and re-watch it and re-watch it, and I cry just about every single episode. Best show ever! More children need to watch this show. Get rid of everything else and only have this on and watch the world change! As well as Shepherd's Chapel with Pastor Arnold Murray...best Bible teacher around. ❤
I am almost 50 and my family is connected to Pepin from the 1st book. I have never stopped watching. It has been huge part of my life. Always brings me comfort. Much love and respect to all the cast.
This is amazing, after 5 decades, "Little House" is back in the Media. I'm from Germany, watched the TV Show so often in my home country. Even my first husband in Germany watched it until recently on a weekly base. This is really unusual, thanks for the memories 😅❤.
I’ve been a LHOP fan for YEARS. It has lasted because of its wholesomeness, traditional values, and it touches the human heart. It’s not PC, (but you’re not allowed to say so.) Deep in most people’s heart, (some, not so deep at all), is the desire for untainted love and purity that we never find in reality. It’s realistic fantasy. It gives people a benchmark to strive for in an idealistic marriage/family. ❤
I think there is room for both traditional values that respect all people, cultures, and walks of life- even those that are unfamiliar to oneself, AND for political correctness, which makes sure that all people are shown respect and are included in what others might take for granted in life. To me, political correctness (or woke, in the current vernacular) includes empathy, equality, inclusion, respect, and kindness, for and toward ALL people, not just people who are similar to oneself, and have the same views and beliefs as oneself. PC also includes continuing throughout one's life to learn about other cultures, listening to, respecting, and believing the experiences, especially documented experiences, of other people in whose shoes oneself has never walked, and unlikely ever will; to listen to others' points of view without reacting as if the other points of view attacks one's own points of view ("triggered"), but instead have a constructive conversation learning about each others' points of view. Finally, PC is also about using one's critical thinking skills to become more humane toward those who are very different from oneself on the surface, as that is the only way human beings do differ- on the surface. May everyone who reads this have far more blessings and joy in their lives than challenges and sorrow. 🌻
@@dawnkindnesscountsmost5991 My post really wasn’t about PCness. The exact opposite, actually. That’s what gives LHOP its staying power. There is ‘empathy, inclusion, respect, and kindness’ on many shows today, including those whose market is for a more progressive audience than LH’s. And many progressives have become or always were LH fans. But what LH offers viewers that many modern and inclusive shows do not is a consistent display of traditional nuclear families and communities made of such families with stereotypical gender roles. I would say a significant amount of LHOP (super)fan base is made of such people. Of course, I’ve never taken an actual pole, it’s just my observation interacting within various social communities. 😊🌻
Obsessed! lol Every year around Christmas my family and I watch “A Christmas They Never Forgot” episode! We quote it… Michael Landon was a genius…. all the things!!!!
I'm so glad Ms. Arngrin and Mr. Butler are in a studio. As long as there isn't a pond near by, all should be okay in case Ms. Gilbert shows up! 😂 Is someone off-camera preparing some "cinnamon" chicken? 😉
Just the other day, the Little House theme came to mind out of the blue, so I started humming it out loud. Within seconds from randomly around our own Little House, the rest of the family joined in 🥰
I too am an original watcher. I'm 57 years old. The woman Pamela talks about watching it Monday through Friday when she was growing up. I remember during the summer months after the show was done. I was a teenager, even had a pin up of Dean Butler on my wall.😂😊. Anyway, I grew up in the Fingerlakes of New York. Little house on the Prairie was on 3 times a day, Monday through Friday. I watched all 3 every day through the summer. I was obsessed!!! 😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤ well , I can say I still am😮😊❤ love, love, love Little house on the Prairie!!
I watched it in the 90’s with my mom, who watched it as it aired in the 70’s-80’s, and now I’m watching it again as an adult and I’m obsessed. It’s such a great show, it holds up to the test of time and I will ALWAYS love to hate Nellie 😂
This is amazing! I'm so excited that you have all come together to gift us with this show and all of the celebrations to come over the year. Thank you. Little House Forever indeed!
I love that you decided to do this podcast. I’ve loved Little House since I was 7 and have always loved seeing the people who played the characters show up from time to time in different things I have watched. I’m freaking 55 now and still have great feelings anytime I hear anything that’s related to the show.
OMG THIS IS GREAT!! Love LHOTP. I had the great pleasure of meeting Allison and Charlotte (Miss Beadle). It blew my mind to see Miss Beadle scrolling on her iPhone 😮Why do I see you guys as living in 1880’s and not today 🤔
Right?? I have the same thoughts in my head! 😂 I saw an interview recently on TH-cam of "Miss Beadle" being interviewed and she used the word "bulls***" in a sentence. I thought it was so funny to hear her use the S word because, like you, I picture all of them in 1800's galore. 😅
My 26 yr old son doesn’t remember watching reruns when he was little. Recently, he got hooked watching LHOP. The episode that shook him to the core is when Albert is addicted to Morphine, because he related. He’s now 7 months clean. For me I’m 61 and grew up with the girls. Always a LHOP fan!!
I started crying when Pamela Bob came on and explained how she became a fan. I watched as a kid from the beginning. Then when they ran it on repeat every day at 5 pm on channel 11 in NYC, I would watch after school in my bedroom on my 13 inch black and white tv. Brings back memories! I brought that tv to college and watched it there. Anyhooo. Cozi tv airs from beginning to end. And every time Almanzo is introduced I watch and get just as excited as when it first aired almost 50 yrs ago. Love, love, love when Laura meets her man for the first time. I didn't know what Pamela Bob meant when she said the W word. I thought. "witch?" Oh...the Waltons!!!! LOLOLOL. Sorry, I loved that show as well. Thursday nights channel 2 cbs, The Waltons. LHOTP, Wednesday, then Monday night channel 4, NBC. But, there is something about LHOTP. I don't think I'll be going to the CA reunion. I didn't make plans for it:( But, you mentioned Connecticut. If not too far - hopefully I'll get to see you and whoever else there. I met Alison at one of her shows in NYC. I forget what year, but you signed your book and I have a pic of you and me. I also have a pic of Melissa G and me when she did a play in NYC. And I have a pic of me and John Boy when he did a play in NYC. Anyhoooo...can't wait for this pod case series!!!! So much fun!!!
Always a comfort…been watching since it first aired. My Ringtone is LH My first home my husband had a plaque made that said “Little House on the Parkie” (we lived on a park😆) my husband is understanding of my addiction. He gets home cooked meals too! ❤❤❤❤
I’m 29 and I grew up with the show! I think was about 8 or 9 when I first started watching it. I read the books around that time too. Whenever it’s on I stop to watch it lol My goal this year is to finally own all 9 seasons. 😁
I’m 55. Grew up watching Little House. Just started watching it again. I can’t stop!! I’m in Season 8 and don’t want it to end. I’m going to have to find out how I can download it so I can always have it.
Thank you for making this podcast! My Mom and I began with the season 1 boxed set from Sam’s club during the summer when I was 10. We would basically binge watch each season before going to buy the next one! I am now 29 and have watched the entire series at least 10 times. Such a comfort show for me at all times in my life.
What a great surprise! Nice start to the day. I'm 66. My favorite show throughout my teens, high school & on. Love how you keep giving. I wish your story telling never ended. Plus, Alison, miss cooking with you in the afternoons. Hoping to make it to Connecticut this summer. Love you 2!
Old enough to be an original watcher with fond memories watching with my grandparents. I just started re-watching and what sustains it as relevant is the moral of the story in almost each episode in how we can take responsibility. I’m only on season 4 right now, but one that stands out is the one “ The Bully Boy”. I loved that one and how everyone banded together to push them out. Alison, of course everyone except you since turned one into your boyfriend 😂 PS, hoping to be at the 50th in Simi and great job with the podcast, so entertaining and can’t wait for the rest this year!
I’m a Gen 1 OG Little House Fan. The show is a staple in my life and my kids can tell you about every episode. Can’t wait to share it all with the grandkids!
I am now officially an addict to your podcast. You are all so amazing for putting this together. Every Thursday my significant other and I tune in to your podcast. I am going through a.lit of childhood memories and came across the whole series in hard covet. I was so excited I let out a scream. we can't wait til August to meet you in ct. Alison and deans book are a must read for the summer.thank you for making this podcast and for everything you did to make tv so wonderful. They don't make shows like Little.house any more. Elizabeth and David from Boston
Thank you Alison, Dean and Pam for doing this for the fans. I am now 52 and have been a fan since I was 11 and home from school with chicken pox. Reruns were on daily at 3:30 PM. I have gotten so many people into LHOTP. I look forward to future episodes of your podcast 😀
This is wonderful. I cannot wait for the future episodes. I am 47 years old, I began watching original episodes in the early 80's and continue to stream daily. Little House is a HUGE comfort for me. Thank you so much for doing this. I love you all!!
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you both, along with your guests from Little House On the Prairie. I grew up watching the program and adored it. I had copies of Mrs. Wilders books as a child alongside classics by E.B. White and Judy Blume. So sorry I ever let them go. Rereading them again as I watch the shows is a joy. In today's ever changing world of technology, we get a glimpse of the cast as more than the parts they played. We learn about you as people. What an astounding and refreshing gift. Now, when I watch reruns, I see Nellie in a whole new light. I wish you all the best and many blessings.
I have learned so much from Little House on the Prairie in the way of compassion. This show was a true inspiration. I named first daughter after Laura Ingalls Wilder I was in college and I was still watching when Pa brought James to the hills and built the altar after he was shot at the bank. Everyone doubted him. I loved that a friend the next day asking me if I had watched it and amazed also at how they expressed his will of faith. I was such a huge fan of Laura and I also loved the rival of Laura and Nelly “look at the country girls” which I have used with my own children in life when they started new life experiences. Nelly was a true way of learning how to overcome. I thank her for her incredible work in helping show us the way! Happy 50th Little House! Well Done!! Well done Michael Landon !
This is just fabulous. As a fan of the show, who owns all the DVD's, thank you so much for doing this. I love seeing chats with the cast members, but to get Jason Bateman would be incredible. I do hope he hears you and agrees to come on 😍
Love this. The show launched when I was 11 and my teacher loved it and told the class about it. As a young boy, I couldn’t admit I was watching it…but I did and I liked it - especially Nellie. I was terrified of her but could t wait to see what she was going to do next. Thanks to the cast and crew!
I am an original broadcast fan from age 11 in 1974. I once left a note after I witnessed a hit and run parking lot crash because I had to get home for Mary's or Laura's wedding on the show! Love from, Peggy your super fan!
This means so much to me. I met you guys in Corsicana, Texas. Not only do I respect your work, but I love y’all’s personalities. Both of you spoke to me like you would remember meeting me forever, and I thank you for that. I can’t wait for the upcoming episodes. This was a terrific first episode, and I will be with y’all every step of the way.
I absolutely love this! I’m a OG fan who watched not only original episodes on tv but probably the first generation to watch recorded episodes on vcr before there was even re runs!! I have watched every episode multiple times. It’s so much a part of my childhood, sometimes it’s like reliving that again when I watch it or hear the music in the intro. Anyways… I love what you are doing here!!! So happy to watch
I just now subscribed I’m excited for this podcast. I grew up on Little House and it’s still a part of me and I can still watch it to this day and now I have my kids wanting to watch it with me sometimes.
I am so excited about this program! Have read all the books watched and rewatched every episode.. been to autograph shows and visited Laura wilder home in Mansfield.
This pilot podcast is incredible. I could listen to Dean and Alison for hours (well, Alison I did during the pandemic) and the discussions are so interesting. Looking forward to seeing/hearing more!
I watched the first Little House episode because I always loved Lil Joe on Bonanza which I grew up watching with my grandfather but I continued to watch because I fell in love with the Ingalls family. My kids have watched every episode and rerun with me as they were born. I hadn’t really heard of Laura Ingalls Wilder, the author, ‘til the tv series but I have her collection of books now and have read them many times over and I’ll always love me some LHOTP!! Congrats on the 50 years!! 💖
I appreciate the 50th anniversary celebration. I've been listening to Merlin Olsen's interview wherein he shares his favorites (I hope they were included in the LHOP series loop) - The Hight Cost of Being Right, Men will be Boys, The Winoka Warriors; he does talk about working with Patrick Labyorteaux as well. Nice to view Merlin Olsen's experience of Little House.
One of my favorite episodes is Troublemaker with Richard Basehart. I wonder if there were light-hearted times in the making of this episode....giggling with Richard?
Hi great podcast! Willing to own up to being a Bonnethead (but I don't actually wear one!). Hope you can Shannon Doherty on (but given her health issues may not be possible).
I watched the reruns when I was young. My sisters and I just loved to hate Nellie Oleson. We all had a crush on Almanzo. You two were amazing as those characters. No one could have played these parts other than you two! Thanks for the years of entertainment!
Alison doesn’t age !!! She looks fantastic And I grew up watching this waaaay back when and it’s still a great show to this day but so sad that Michael Landon isn’t here to enjoy this !!! They need to mention Victor French who was there through the whole show and went on to highway to heaven with Michael. My mom and I are going to the Connecticut event !!! I am part of that “OG” fan group .. I remember watching this when I was 6 years old with my mom. And then the reruns which I will admit I binge watch patched during Covid which was perfect to watch when you couldn’t leave your home !!! They don’t make shows like this anymore . Hmm I think some of the old actors should create shows of Good old fashioned family values !
I grew up with you girls. Its as much a part of my life as anything is really. Still watch re-runs and happy to know PLUTO has a channel dedicated to LHOTP.
HI Alison and Dean, I have just completed watching the LHOTP on DVD and I watched it as a child. Certainly Nellie does appear to be nasty, but clearly that is part of the script. I used to love the interactions between Nellie and Willie, it was quite comical. Maybe you should do an interview with Jonathon Gilbert, I reckon it would be a classic. I absolutely love the role of Dean as Almanzo. One reason is because he mirrors my personality in some respects, friendly but shy, SM Au
It is fitting for the two of you to do the podcast together, let's not forget Mrs. Olsen set her sight on Dalmonzo for her Nelly right about the same time Laura did for herself. 😅
I am 60 so I watched as a child. But as an adult it became the show that my aging mom and I would watch together when she was in the nursing home . She is gone now and LHOTP always takes me back to both my childhood and memories of my mom❤

I’m 28 & used to get one season every Christmas & it was always what I looked forward to most. ❤ I still watch often. 🥰 Let’s be friends!
These two together are perfect for this. Both of them are great storytellers! Allison is like the spike in Dean's sweet punch.🍹

My Ringtone is LH
My first home my husband had a plaque made that said “Little House on the Parkie” (we lived on a park😆) my husband is understanding of my addiction.
Love you 2!
EVERYONE... including Jonathan Gilbert? That would be amazing
YES, LETS PUT HIM IN THE CORNER!
Jonathan Gilbert is MIA
@@peregrino9154What happened to him? He's Melissa Gilbert's brother
I still watch it
This is wonderful.
Well Done!! Well done Michael Landon !
love Allison's book
never understood why people couldnt separate the two. acting /reality
she is just a fantastic actress.
With me everyday at 4 pm. Hurry to get home from school. I’m also 1st generation. I watch LHOTP and The Walton’s.
So lovely to see u Alison and Dean loving this podcast loved LHOTP 🙏🏻🌺🇨🇦
This is just fabulous. As a fan of the show, who owns all the DVD's, thank you so much for doing this. I love seeing chats with the cast members, but to get Jason Bateman would be incredible. I do hope he hears you and agrees to come on 😍
Being a Canadian with Disabilities, I really liked any character that had some sort of disability just to see disability portrayed on tv
I feel overwhelmed! Thank you sooooo much for this!!! You guys rock!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Little House will never fade - Just joining now - time to play catchup
What a wonderful idea: 50 episodes! I wish we had these podcasts 50 yrs ago!
Why? You had the show.
agreed, we need the podcasts now to reflect back at the brilliance of the show@@saraschneider6781
I want to be Alison's friend! She is so funny and great!
A truly fabulous way to kick off what is sure to be a fantastic year. I love this idea of celebrating 50 years of Little House every single week.
Great podcast!! I’m so thankful this is being done! THANK YOU!!
Just stumbled upon this.
Such a great idea y’all came up with.
Love this. The show launched when I was 11 and my teacher loved it and told the class about it. As a young boy, I couldn’t admit I was watching it…but I did and I liked it - especially Nellie. I was terrified of her but could t wait to see what she was going to do next. Thanks to the cast and crew!
Happy Birthday Alison!🎉
I am an original broadcast fan from age 11 in 1974. I once left a note after I witnessed a hit and run parking lot crash because I had to get home for Mary's or Laura's wedding on the show! Love from, Peggy your super fan!
This means so much to me. I met you guys in Corsicana, Texas. Not only do I respect your work, but I love y’all’s personalities. Both of you spoke to me like you would remember meeting me forever, and I thank you for that. I can’t wait for the upcoming episodes. This was a terrific first episode, and I will be with y’all every step of the way.
Thank you - loved this podcast
I love this!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you. Can’t wait for the anniversary. ❤
Tell em steve Dave 👍💯
I absolutely love this! I’m a OG fan who watched not only original episodes on tv but probably the first generation to watch recorded episodes on vcr before there was even re runs!! I have watched every episode multiple times. It’s so much a part of my childhood, sometimes it’s like reliving that again when I watch it or hear the music in the intro. Anyways… I love what you are doing here!!! So happy to watch
I just now subscribed I’m excited for this podcast. I grew up on Little House and it’s still a part of me and I can still watch it to this day and now I have my kids wanting to watch it with me sometimes.
This podcast is wonderful! I am really looking forward to it! Thank you so much! 😀
This is awesome!!!
OG prime time watcher and am now starting it again on steaming
Love, love, love this!!!
Melissa Sue Anderson is the only member we mostly don't hear from. She lives in Montreal area and apparently doesn't do interviews.
Awesome convo - you guys have a good vibe
The show has so much love around it..
Siete stati tutti formidabili artisti avete portato tanta speranza amore ne portate nuovamente grandi ❤❤❤❤🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍
I can watch it over and over. It was on Great American Family Channel but they took it off so hubby bought me the dvd collection.
OMG I LOVE that episode!! "SILENCE!!!!" 😂
Hi great podcast! Willing to own up to being a Bonnethead (but I don't actually wear one!). Hope you can Shannon Doherty on (but given her health issues may not be possible).
I agree, she was such a wonderful addition to the show, if she is willing and able to. "We fans Love her"
I'm watching Little House on the Prairie now!!
I watch all 9 seasons at least twice a year lol
I watched the reruns when I was young. My sisters and I just loved to hate Nellie Oleson. We all had a crush on Almanzo. You two were amazing as those characters. No one could have played these parts other than you two! Thanks for the years of entertainment!
Alison doesn’t age !!! She looks fantastic
And I grew up watching this waaaay back when and it’s still a great show to this day but so sad that Michael Landon isn’t here to enjoy this !!!
Hmm I think some of the old actors should create shows of
Good old fashioned family values !
29:58 Come on Jason!
omg.... Channel 11 WTXX. Monday through Friday at 5 pm in the 80s. This was my childhood too....
I seen Linwoods(Adam) name on credits sitcom producer or writer.❤
22:05 - Music Box was pretty wild...I'm trying to remember the rhyme Nellie made up which ended in "Stu-Stu-Stutter"🤣🤣🤣🤣
is this Ep 1 ,,this would be the 1st time ive actually seen a podcast from the beginning
I grew up with you girls. Its as much a part of my life as anything is really. Still watch re-runs and happy to know PLUTO has a channel dedicated to LHOTP.
I also saw him on an episode of Who's the boss taking Mona to the prom
HI Alison and Dean, I have just completed watching the LHOTP on DVD and I watched it as a child. Certainly Nellie does appear to be nasty, but clearly that is part of the script. I used to love the interactions between Nellie and Willie, it was quite comical. Maybe you should do an interview with Jonathon Gilbert, I reckon it would be a classic. I absolutely love the role of Dean as Almanzo. One reason is because he mirrors my personality in some respects, friendly but shy, SM Au
Golden Labrador 😂😂😂
Just starting this podcast now, and I'm like 👀 when you guys are hyping up some of the 2024 activities - knowing what happened recently!
It is fitting for the two of you to do the podcast together, let's not forget Mrs. Olsen set her sight on Dalmonzo for her Nelly right about the same time Laura did for herself. 😅
Where is Nancy the actress?😊
