I’m 49 and I remember when “Little House” and “The Waltons” were huge back in the day. Even today, they’re still popular. Melissa Gilbert said it best when she said that “Little House” is TV comfort food. It really is.
I was born in 64. I grew up with LHOTP-they were my "family" that I saw every week. I remember hating and loving Nellie at the same time lol. I must have been one confused kid 🤣 I grew up with all of you. I was so happy when you came back for the episode later so we could see you as the "good" grown up that we had missed for awhile🎀(there wasn't a pink one lol).
I'm a HUGE Little House fan from the very beginning! I have the entire series including the pilot episode. I loved all of the characters. The actors were all fabulous! You know, I loved Nellie. Alison played her to a T!!! Love her! And I bought her book. Its FANTASTIC!! Y'all must get it!
I didn't get to watch it when it originally ran I was born to late for that 😄 I still love 💕 it 😍 I was born on January the 20th 1983 so too late you 🤗 were so good as Nellie Olson.
I really loved the "Return of Nellie" episode, because it really added an unexpected dimension to her character. I especially remember that scene where Nellie is talking about her past, and she tries to minimize her bad behavior, saying, "Oh, I wasn't that bad." And then you see the realization dawn on her that she *was* that bad, and that it's a complete shock to her. Great stuff -- and I don't think it would have been possible without Alison having left the show.
@@PopCultureRetro Yes, I tried watching some reruns of post-Nellie episodes and it wasn't the same at all. And I hate NANCY! I don't hate Nancy in the way we all "hated" Nellie, no, I really despise the way the character is written. Poor Alison Balsan, she had no idea how UN popular she was going to be.
Happy Thanksgiving Ike, Johnathan and Alison. Ike thank you for another guest that you worked with on Little House . I just watch this Thanksgiving morning and it was so funny hear Alison tell us about her memories on the show and in real life. I remember hearing about the soda scene a long time ago. Great interview everyone!
I think it's a riot she always films vertical in phone mode. Probably from having her biggest audience on Facebook. Plus she's such a goof, so good at comedy!
@@PopCultureRetro Katherine's character became more cartoonish as the series went along, but she was always fun to watch. And Richard's barbs, although few and far between, were always spot on!
I always liked her on the show. Ike, you would be able to confirm this, but I have noticed that the actors/actresses who play the most evil, horrible people onscreen are usually the exact opposite in real-life. They are usually the nicest, sweetest people offscreen even thought they can be the nastiest, meanest people onscreen. I never really cared for Nellie’s clone, Nancy. The show really took a hit after Nellie left IMHO.
I just thought of a couple of different people for future guests: Henry Winkler and Molly Ringwald. Jonathan, you and Henry both have something in common with being authors of children’s books. And, Molly is an author, too, of mostly fiction as well as a singer, director, and actress.
I think the genius of what Michael Landon did with *Little House on the Prairie* is perhaps little appreciated. Basically, he adapted the *Little House* books into a reinvented version of one of the greatest hit tv shows of all time, *Bonanza,* so that fans of the earlier show who had watched it for all of its 14 seasons (like my grandmother) were able to watch *Little House* as a continuation of it, with patriarch Lorne Green as Ben Cartwright (with his three sons) replaced by Landon, the actor who had played Ben's youngest boy, Little Joe, now in the role of the new patriarch Charles Ingalls (with his three daughters). He then dropped the elements of the traditional western formula that had gone out of style with the consciousness-raising of the 1970's (gunplay, excessive violence, and mysogyny), and concentrated more on folksy nostalgia and human drama. With this formula, he was able to, in effect, extend the success of *Bonanza* (now retooled as *Little House)* for another nine seasons.
I haven’t watched this interview yet but I’d like to know upfront, did Allison do her own stunt in the shot when she somersaults out of her wheelchair into the creek? (Bunny)
I absolutely hated Nellie, but I mean that as a high compliment. When I reread the books, which I do periodically, I always see those golden curls when Nellie shows up
I always thought Nelly was Hot !! She was cute as hell !! They couldn't of pick a better Nelly ! Allison knock her part as Nelly out of the ball park !!
Laura was not a racist. She spoke of native americans better than most in her time and black people are not mentioned or only rarely. This is an idea spread by the woke and CRT agenda. Please read up throughly on Laura
Alison Arngrim is my favorite in little house on the prairie
What a fun interview!! I've always loved Allison's wild sense of humor. I have all 9 seasons of LHOTP, and watch them frequently over and over. ❤
Alison definitely was a lot of fun! Thanks for watching! :)
What a very amazing woman..
Agree 100%!

Alison has perhaps the greatest enunciation of all time. Terrific to listen to. :)
And such fantastic stories! :)
Thanks for watching!
Alison Arngrim, you are so cool 😎

Feel for her. But, that's what happens when you try to make a copy of something instead of just creating a new character.
@@PopCultureRetro Maybe she would be an interesting interview subject.
Not if she reads this. :)
But, would love to have her on! :)

Hi ike and Jonathan and Allison
She was the perfect Nellie, and Katherine McGregor and Richard Bull were the perfect parents! Well, not perfect, but you know what I mean!
She really was so great in the show. Parents, too. Perfect casting!

I would tend to agree. Some of the nicest people play villains, because getting to play villainy is so much fun :)

NELLIE OLESON- 😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
I absolutely hated Nellie, but I mean that as a high compliment. When I reread the books, which I do periodically, I always see those golden curls when Nellie shows up
A testament to her acting ability! :)
If one was perceptive, you really understood that Nellie was only a product and creation of Harriet. Willie could also be a snot, but not as bad.
Totally agreed! :)
One thing i know for sure is that Michael Landon was not the FUCKING angel that America made him out to be
I love her shes hysterical. Shes great enthusiasm. I wished she would talk a bit slower.... I had a hard time following....
She is a ball of energy but incredibly fun! :)

In a big way i have to say that i feel that Michael Landon totally ruined Alison Arngrims life
