Whenever I see videos or information written that say we do not need calcium supplements, I feel compelled to comment. Because I am taking PPIs, my Gastroenterologist told me I need to supplement 1,000 mg. calcium daily. He keeps current on all of the research with PPIs and possible side effects. The proof that he is right about this are my DEXA scans. My bone density has remained stable. I'm almost 70 and I do have osteopenia, but after all the years I've had to take PPIs I think my bone density is pretty darn good. I'm also short and thin, and have several other risk factors for osteoporosis. The point I'm trying to make is that although I agree it is probably not necessary for many people to take a calcium supplement, those of us who have to take PPIs and are at risk for osteoporosis need to be sure we get our calcium.

Thanks for the comment. The thing to keep in mind with PPIs is that you may be deficient in many nutrients- not just calcium.
Sidenote - my #1 recommendation for bone density is PEMF. I’ve seen great results from people

@@AskCurtis I've read that other nutrients can also be hard to absorb. One of the main ones is magnesium. But I have very good health, and no symptoms of deficiencies. Although I do try to eat a healthy diet. I was tested for magnesium because I was concerned, and it was fine. Sometimes I wonder if there is a lot of misinformation about PPIs and deficiencies.

D3 will decrease magnesium. Magnesium and K2 move calciu into the bones.

Alot of us are dairy intolerant. hard to get calcium from veggies since the soil is so depleted

There are other options and - if you balance other nutrients - we likely don't need as much calcium as some would suggest. LOTS of other factors at play.

All bad except from vegetable sources (algae), and taken in small doses with a meal.
