I ordered mine a few days ago I’ve been looking at lifts for months going back and fourth from cheap to expensive lifts, not once did I come up with advantage lifts some how an add popped up in my feed looked you guys up. The price point, the care and quality you guys put in your product and the customer service made me order my lift about 20 mins later. I can’t wait. I’ve heard many stories about how the cheap lift have terrible instructions and non existent customer service, for you guys to have all that at an affordable price really says something. This video was top notch and and shows you guys really care about your products. Thanks
Just got mine up last weekend, i got the old manual so i had to convert the metric to standard. The manual is very vague, there should be a parts list to cover what the nuts, bolts, screws, and washers go to however it does not. This video will help you with the install for sure. The customer service i've dealt with has been great and the quality seems great as well. haven't used it a lot yet however did use it to make sure it works. Over all, for the money i think you will be pleased with this lift.
Interesting to see how someone else does installs. Ive installed about 200 2 posts and we always install the overhead before mounting the column anchors . Also we take column inside measurements more seriously than outiside baseplate to basplate . More than anything those basplates are never true and square. Ive seen so many guys mount both columns then struggle with bolting on the overhead and which will then throw out the level.
Outstanding job guys! Just ordered this lift and will install myself. You guys answered all the questions and more. The loading info at the end was a bonus as I'll be lifting all sizes of vehicles. Thanks for taking the time to do this!!
Video was very helpful because the included instructions are trash. However, I ran into one issue during my install. I followed the video step by step and at the 45:00 min mark, the overhead switch was connected to outside terminals. When it was time to connect to power, the lift did not work. After reviewing the video again, and checking I connected the switch to the motor correctly, I could not figure out what the issue could be. At the 1:56:16 mark he says the wires should be connected to inside terminals on the overhead switch. I made that change and it worked properly. Make sure to connect to inside terminal on the safety switch before installing to the overhead bar. It’s much easier on the ground than on a ladder.
i noticed the same thing however i caught his comment at the end about using the center posts on the switch before i powered it and made the correction so i had no issues. The instructions in the manual are horrible and should even have a parts list for nuts, bolts, screws, and washers however does not!
@@1badaff889I just set up my new lift and when I was going to wire it to the motor I caught him saying to us inside I was not happy because not I have to get back up there to redo it. He should have said something in the video about that. I watch it all the way before I started too
Great video! Thanks for explaining everything in detail! One thing I'd like to clarify as a mechanical engineer is your fastening of the concrete bolts with 100ftlbs. There is no technical reason why you would check this with a lower torque setting (only 70 ftlbs)! Mark the bolt heads with a paint maker on the baseplate and note if they have moved (anti-clockwise). THEN you've got a valid reason to re-tighten them..
If you are a mechanical engineer you would know that checking again later after use is NOT because they maybe backing out. You can mark the heads, but that isn’t the point. You recheck them because after use, the concrete in the holes can break down, the concrete could have been bad quality or not cured correctly. There could have been a void or anything else under the slab. You check it and retorque it to expand the anchors again into the concrete and double check they are still holding. There have been cases where after a few months or even a year or two, the anchor is not gripping anymore. It’s not a regular nut and bolt and there is not enough vibration on the base to make them loosen to move that a mark on the nut would indicate anything.
Any normally closed momentary switch will work. You'll just need to make a bare that pivots on one end and is allowed to move up and down an inch on she other. A piece of emt with pipe insulation should be fine
When he wired the cut off switch at the top he used the two outside terminals then when he wired it to the on and off switch he told us to use the two inside terminals 🤔. He needs to fix that so we are not left confused. Now I have to check to see which is right because I used the outside
I’m sure you already found out by now but it may help someone else to know that it is the two inside terminals. He was wrong when he wired it to the outside terminals.
Hey there! Sorry it took so long to respond. Hopefully you found a way, but you have to tighten the nut before installing that part. There is no good way to get a wrench down there unless you install it before, or raise the carriage up to be able to get back there.
What a. FANTASTIC VIDEO!! Thank You guys for making it! This kinda stuff is what makes TH-cam Great! One question I have is some other videos recommend using concrete anchor epoxy for the anchor bolts is that something you recommend? And one other you tuber recommends threaded rod and epoxy. I'm thinking the rod would be good if you had lets say a 12" floor I dont think it would be useful in say a 5 " floor
100% you should be using chemical anchors. Not the mechanical ones shown here. The chemical anchors use a different type of stud. It's basically a threaded rod you press in, let set, then you tighten down the nuts to spec. Do not use mechanical anchor bolts and epoxy them. Use the proper threaded rod.
Hey there, Enzo! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I needed to get an answer to your questions. Yes, you can shim the second size if needed. It really just depends on the tilt or angle of your garage. Shimming both is completely fine, shimming one is completely fine--as long as it's needed.
he mentioned that the grease for the arms wasn't in the instructions what instructions is he talking about my Lift didn't come with any type of instructions at all
If lift has a top cross bar do they still pull in? I figured you’d do the slight outward tilt on the bottom cross bar and just go dead straight on this style? Actually curious bc I’ll be installing one soon. Thanks for any help
The installers tightened my anchor nuts to 150 ft lbs, instead of the 100 you stated. I couldn't find that specification in the manual. They said retighten should be to 80 ft lbs. whereas you said 70 ft lbs. Can you confirm which is correct?
the video was very helpful, but had mistakes a that caused backtracking and was frustrating. The manual provided is inadequate and misrepresentative of the materials included in the lift. A more accurate video, a packing list and a better manual is needed. To be clear, the packing list is essential, because I was unaware of missing parts until the time I had set aside for install.
Thank you for the feedback. We are actively working on a new manual for this lift. I also like your suggestion about the packing list. I'll pass this along to our team. We hope you enjoy the lift!
The instructions for my lift doesn’t go into any kind of detail what so ever. Like the overhead bar, the overhead safety switch, etc. no details at all. It just says mount it to the bar. Well how do you wire it? How do you even mount the bar?? He says in the video it shows detailed instructions.
Hey, Coltan! I'm sorry the installation isn't going as planned. I would advise giving us a call at 763-300-5730. We can provide support over the phone and help install the overhead bar and answer any questions you may have!
I'm putting up this lift now and the instructions are still metric. Also at 45 minutes he tells you to wire the overhead switch to the outside posts in the switch, then at 1hour 55 minutes he tells you to wire them to the two center posts. Your 4 post video was great, I knocked it out so easily... the AL-SC10 video isn't bad but so many details missed or edited out, the AL-SF10 video downright sucks.... no talking to let you know what's going on and why, just crappy music for 20 minutes
He's not comfortable because the older fellow is an over confident under capable individual who likes to be in charge. When he pulled that tape out and confidently through out the arbitrary 7ft forward I almost fell down laughing.

How do you tighten the double nut on the cable that goes down into the carriage? Can’t get a wrench in there.

so as you lowered the truck that sound of rushing air escaping from the hydraulic reservoir is normal correct.??
Yes, that noise is just the flow of the hydraulic oil back into the tank. All good!

I know an installer. He said 125-150lbs for 3/4"anchors. I would use either retorque spec.
The torque spec isn't as important as the type of anchors. Mechanical anchors are yesterday's news. Chemical anchors will make your life much happier!
