I love these uploads, so please don't take this as criticism. In the South Africa of 2019, these have become run of the mill (as I'm sure Britain is also facing different circumstances). But to imagine that there was a time where you could say that sort of thing at the end of a crime show!
Crime in the UK has actually gone down and down since then. As of 2023, it's at its lowest ever levels. Burglary and car theft have gone down particularly massively, and murder rates are lower than the 80s or 90s.

The description about the victim being bound and gagged *inside the caravan,* happened to be given during the time that the phone operator was transferring the call. It certainly wouldn't have been [properly] heard by either of the phone operators. When the police arrived, owing to the perhaps lack of perceived urgency to unbind the victim, they may only have been acting on third (or fourth) hand information about the tavern, and NOTHING to do with a nearby caravan. The "accountability" of the police in this instance was considerably tenuous. Unless the true intent of the caller was perhaps murder by ""misunderstanding"", then it seems to have been an extremely unfortunate catalogue of errors by many parties. Terribly regrettable.

Does anyone have the episode or know the details about the armed robbery on a security van were a male security guard was raped by one of the armed robbers? I've often wondered what the details surrounding that was & if the person was caught - it was genuinely shocking to hear true crime stories about male rape on tv back then.
She should have gone back to work and they would have called her a cab. It should be a given that they would make certain their staff were seen safely home.
