First of all, pause the video! what I’m about to show you is actually real, please read the entire video to understand, especially the beginning.
Today I am sharing with you a new fact, a new video where it’s possible to actually challenge Gold from Gold, Silver and Crystal.

I'm using Persian on my Kanto team now and Arcanine on my Alola team, now I can use Alolan Muk.
I can just teach Kantonian Persian an Electric-type move and my Clefable a Fire-type move.
I love the fact that you replaced the battle theme with your own gold battle music, I always loved that theme ever since u first made it and seeing it used in an actual battle against gold makes it all the better

The thing I most like about this combat is the team composition of Gold.
If you think about it, it's kind of logical. Excluding Cyndaquil as his starter, everyone else is a "free" pokemon. Togetic is the egg. Gyarados is the sold magikarp. Ho-oh is kind of free because of Masterball and maybe because every MC in the video game series seems to have an affinity with a specific legendary. Umbreon is Bill's Eevee. And Sodowoodo is the "strange tree" blocking your way to Morty.
@Desir Family yeah, I know... That's why the starter for me is in a different pool. For the others you have a choice to pick em up or not, in any shape or form. But the starter is a must to start. Its more like a forced pokemon.
Actually Cyndaquil in manga is the chosen starter by Gold, his name was Explotaro
Gold also had a Togepi, Cyndaquil, and Sudowoodo in the Adventures manga. I thought his whole manga team were gonna be used at the start but then Ho-Oh appeared and a frown formed on my face.
I think gyarados it's the one that is in the rage lake , You know , the shiny red one
Nah screw it i always doesn't associate a mc with a specific starter but god damn, gold fire, silver water and crystal grass is good couple to not be 100 % canon
This would be a great easter egg if it was somehow included in the supposed Pokémon lets go Johto game.

Today I am sharing with you a new fact, a new video where it’s possible to actually challenge Gold from Gold, Silver and Crystal.
Gold is actually challengeable and I’m gonna explain to you how:
- Game Freak have hided it well. As many people know, there’s a trainer in Kanto, especially in Viridian City where it’s possible to challenge a trainer called CAL once per day. That trainer is just a regular NPC in which he challenge you with 3 fully evolved Starter.
He apparently is the strongest trainer of the game based of what the woman from the house saying quotes:
«You can battle the best of the best right downstairs.» She’s actually talking to a trainer that is the very best.
I believe that woman isn’t actually mentionning CAL because the trainer has only 3 fully evolved Starter with level 50.
Someone else just a bit higher is mentionning Red, which they know who he was. Red is actually the strongest since
his pokemon level are much Higher. So how is this possible? It’s pretty simple:
- Actually, if you are using the Mystery Gift between two real Game Boy color, in which I used, you can received Mystery Gift from the other player! However there’s not only that, but you can actually challenge that player in Viridian City house. Trainer CAL will be replaced by the other player that has given you the mystery gift. In my case, I used the protagonist from Pokemon Gold and finished the game.
- CAL is just kinda a placeholders if you do not use the Mystery Gift, however, if you do use it, then the trainer that you will face, is the trainer from the other player. In which he truly is the best of the best. Gold will be challenged as a regular NPC, just like Red. His team
depend on the team you have used from the other version!

The Mystery Gift thing is known to those who used it. Years ago a friend of mine & I did that, & I made the Viridian City discovery as well. I made sure that any time we did Mystery Gift, my team was my strongest team for him to battle. I don't remember if it registered nicknames though. I don't think it did.

Yeah I think that was deliberate for creating a more diverse Battle, not stomping a Pokemon imideatly and showing all types of Moves besides the one best thry have.

It's real. When I had my pkmn Gold and Crystal, I could do that! The onyl difference is the battle soundtrack. In my case, it was the normal one.

Why everyone act so surprised and refer to this as "Superboss" or use the word "hidden". This was no hidden at all.
It was a widely known feature of GB color (IR) and even as 10yo we knew we could battle each other through Mystery Gift on Gen2, without the need of using a Link cable.
It's ok if people found about it even all these years later, but don't spread it as "Hidden new superboss fact" it just triggers the game to battle a friend with his/her respective team regardless of what name they chose for the protagonist in GSC.

Yea obviously not very good at the game 😆. Most of the move choices were pretty bad.
Mystery gift also works with the 3DS ports of GSC so you can experience this again (It's also a way to have a full lvl 100 blissey team for ez level up on the go)

I must be old if this is new information, because it was common knowledge back in my day? It wasn't hidden at all, and was in the g/s guidebook, too. I'm not sure where this idea that it's a "hidden" mechanic is coming from.

He has 2 Fire Pokemon and 0 Grass Pokemon though. I think his team should consist of Typhlosion, Meganium, and Feraligatr -- the Johto equivalent of Red's Kanto trio. Then Togetic, Sudowoodo, and Umbreon make sense to round things out.

Holy smoke. As a Gen 1 veteran who played this for many years since release, I didn't know a second, even harder Superboss exist. But the levels, he's just as hard as how Red became in the remake versions!
Kind of sucks you need two linked Game Boy Colors and game copies for that to even work, so Red is already fine enough.
It's a copy of someone else's player character. If you really wanted to, you could make it six magikarps.

The originals and the DS remake actually inspired my Johto team for both, Ethan is possibly my favourite protagonist in the games.

After I saw Togetic (Togebo) and Sudowoodo (Sudobo), I was expecting you to use his team from Pokemon Adventures
It was fitting for you to have Togetic, Sudowoodo, and Typhlosion (Exbo) in his team, but the other three were not. He has a Sunflora (Sunbo), Politoed (Polibo), and Ambipom (Aibo).

However I still ONLY had lv 65 pokemon Mt Silver and couldn't even beat RED at all so theirs no way I could beat Gold's 6x Pokemon ONLY at lv 65 either.
Watching you battle was one of the hardest things ive done. Watching you constantly use the worst possible moves and fail setups was really tough

If the Mystery Gift Work then yes.
It does! I tried and worked to trade with a friend. Do not forget 3DS has IR port too! So make sure to keep both 3DSes close while using mystery gift (not too close tho and do not move while trading).
Then I will try it!
