The biggest modeling project was taking an AURORA 1/48 B-25 and converting it into a B-25H with a solid Nose with the 75mm field gun mounted in the left lower quadrant of the nose. It also required that the cockpit be scratch built as well as the landing gear wells. I also had to sand off the molded in insignia from the wings, fuselage, & tail. I took the easy way out and installed a cockpit interia from a REVELL Doolittle Raider B-25C. But since you couldn't see much of the interior it was sufficient. I made this kit in 1974, so there is a lot I may have forgotten, but I do remember replacing the molded in fuselage gun barrels below the canopy, with some brass tubing to make it seem more legit. I also sanded off the molded in guns from the waist positions and added a couple of Machine Guns from my spare parts box to add to the realism. This was a beast. The nose was carved from a piece of balsa wood and a .58 caliber Minnie Ball was epoxied in a hole drilled into the back of the balsa nose for the counter weight to keep the nose down when sitting on display. I do wish I had pictures of that kit, but that was a long time ago.
Nice work! Since you asked, my biggest modeling project was a 1/48 Monogram B-29 Superfortress. It was very challenging, but rewarding. Thank you for taking the time for making these wonderful videos.
Thats a brilliant build and great history and commentary. It is refreshing to see someone doing a project like this rather than just kit bashing. My biggest build was making a 1/12th scale 57 Chevy gasser drag racer from a Revel kit I picked up at a flea market. The stock wheels were missing but I got wider slicks and engine parts over about a year. It involved making raised suspension and a new chassis and roll cage etc. I think it is way more satisfying than just assembling the kits.
Very well done and the skill developed over time shows. This is what modelling is all about. Slapping kits together gets a little old after some time and bashing them together is the answer. Thanks for sharing.
As a Canadian I appreciate your Canadian theme to your models. I am back in the hobby after 40 plus years and I’m working on a Fleet Air Arm theme. On my desk now is a 1/48 Sea Gladiator and a 1/48 swordfish. After that will be long range multiple engine bombers that Canadian squadron’s flew. I enjoy your work and look forward to see more.
My largest modelling project wasn’t a single model, it was a collection of 1/72 models of the same aircraft in its various marks, the Spitfire/Seafire, I had to give up after completing around 24 models, with no two the same, because I hadn’t realised just how many variations there was of this aircraft. To make matters more difficult I was doing this in the early ‘90s when there weren’t really that many good 1/72 Spitfire kits on the market so the project involved a lot of kit bashing, cross kitting and using after market resin parts.
The Revell Seafire XV is actually the Special Hobby kit. The only other option out there is the old Hobbycraft kit from the late 80s. Great work, really enjoy the channel.
A fine representation of a historic Royal Canadian Navy aircraft . I recognize this aircraft , late 40s to the late 50s . HMCS Bonaventure , I believe . Thank you .
Very cool Kitbash and really great work! My biggest project is the 35th scale Revell Germany Unimog with an completely scratchbuilt Ambulance Box with full interior from german Bundeswehr. Still not finished but getting closer.
Awesome your so talented I could only dream of taking on something like that. My biggest kit is a 1/24 Thunderbolt needless to say its still on the shelf just reading the instructions is daunting. Once again great work keep on making great videos.
My biggest build was the F4J in 1/48 Phantom that Randy Cunningham flew when he became the 1st mig ace in the Vietnam War I was on the Constellation for 2 years I added aftermarket sets it turned out good even with brush painting thanks great job on your build
My biggest. Tamiya 1/16 panther G built as my great uncles tank in April 45. Used all the Aber sets, added a corrected metal barrel, scratch built rear hull with scratch ir box, 5 Jeff shui figures(resin), metal tracks, and a bunch of odds and ends. Took 2.5 years and I almost quit model building. Lol. It's at a model shop in Seattle, Washington, Emil's hobby shop.
Dang. That’s a super crazy wing folding sequence. Why they didn’t just move the hinges a little further out, then they wouldn’t have had to fold the tips also. That’s one heck of a Frankenstein job there. Well done. Bring cast iron or fabricated from steel, WWII aircraft exhaust most certainly rusted. Just to what extent depends on the AO, duration in service, and actual flight/running hours and of course the construction method of the exhaust.
I'm hoping Eduard will eventually come out with Seafires to finish their Spitfire line the Mk V is soon to be released and I've been waiting for that mark for a while wanting to do a proper Mk V trop of the quality Eduard is known for. Your Seafire came out great!
Super courageous pulling together two kits into one and doing a great job to boot....congrats.....the end product is amazing! Biggest build is a 1/32 WNW Gotha G IV.....next on the bench and I'm starting to sweat already.
With your skills.....you'll do a brilliant job.....give one a try....they're really great fun to build. I've built three so far...challenging in some ways but the results are amazing.
A very impressive build. A slight correction, it’s the Airfix Spitire XII which forms an excellent starting point. Combine with the Seafire XVII produces an easy Seafire XV. Keep up the good work and stay safe.
It’s funny you mention him. I enjoy his videos and work, especially the detailing he does but he has his own style when it comes to shading / post lighting. You have a style that I’m more in line with that goes for a more realistic approach of light and what I find a more accurate look in the end. I’m not hating on Plasmo, I’m just saying we modellers all have different tastes
Fantastic conversion - am in awe of the chop and change coverup work! If I might be so bold, I think you would have done better to skip the splatter weathering step - it's very difficult to make that sort of effect look in scale with warbirds in 1:48... Otherwise, stellar work - thanks for sharing!

I've read some really bad reviews though and would have to dump a bit of aftermarket parts into it to make it worthy. Plus it's about $120 here. After their E-2 I'm a bit gun shy of their older kits
Just discovered your channel. Subscribed. Amazing work, great storytelling and narrative flow. Love it! I'm not that interested in the whole husband/wife stereotypical bashing thing though,.. but I think I might be able to help out: stop saying that a given kit will be your last. 😊 It's all about love 👍 Best wishes
Very talented ...like your work . By any chance have you given ICM kits a go ? The mk 16 spitfire is a great kit to build better than anything Airfix can produce and 1:48 is half the price of Airfix . Also . The Revell kit is actually a Special-Hobby one and they were apparently very much inspired by the old Tamiya Spitfires. www.scalemates.com/kits/special-hobby-sh48116-supermarine-seafire-f-mkxv--204700 They don't have folding wings though. I admire your filling skills, as I just tacked on an Airfix MK 14 nose on a Mk VIII Eduard (which allows making one of 8 prototypes Mk XIV, the third and last one with a standard Mk VIII tail, JF 318, which dispenses with changing the tail), and it was extremely hard, even with just the forward edge of the wing fairing being a curved mating surface... It took years, even at this simpler level...
Filling has been something I’ve been trying to get better at since this project. I had a problem with putty not staying in place and ghost seams. Sprue goo was a huge game changer and fills in very nice. It’s also a reason I steer clear of airfix because I know there is going to be a lot of filling. I also found the two kits needed to revisit this so at some point I’ll have to suck it up again :)
Very nice build, but I don't understand, why do You convert two kits, when exists excelent and very cheap Seafire Mk. XV kit by SpecialHobby/Revell... In many decal variants...
Terrific work!! You've got a lot of heart for knocking out this project hah Could you give us a short "how to" on airbrushing a clear coat? Just not 100% sure how many coats are needed, as well as the best method for application. But, don't worry about it if it's inconvenient. Really enjoying your channel!! Keep it up 💯

The Airfix 1/72 Lancaster Mk II has been my biggest project so far. Both from a size perspective and a difficulty level. The difficulty came from there being a wrap in the fuselage on one of the halves. Twice it sprang open because there was so much tension. Really wonderful work. What kit for the Banshee are you going to use?
My biggest build isn’t a plane or a car or tank, it was a 1/1 (real size) stripe from the movie gremlins, in gremlin form. And unfortunately at that time I didn’t own a airbrush
By the way - There is a Special Hobby Seafire Mk. XV kit in 1/48 and 1/72....just for info www.super-hobby.cz/products/Supermarine-Seafire-Mk.XV-Far-East-Service.html
No worries. The only fighters that flew off the Bonnie were the Banshees and even those only lasted a few years with the deck being too small for them. Lots of accidents
In answer to your question " What was your biggest model project" I made a 1/32nd model of the T9 twin-seat spitfire ML407 (OU-V) "The Grace Spitfire" sorry I have no photo,s as this model was sold years ago.
When I moved into this house, there was a shelf built into the wall where a 60" tv could be wall mounted. We put shelves there instead so that's where they sit. I have a few out right now for display at the local museum and once they're back I'll put up a photo in a video to show them
Hmmmm.... Diorama.... Seafire..... Sea fury.... Royal Canadian- wait a minute, I’ve seen this before, and I’ve also seen you before in the airshow in springban-🤭 I’m guessing this diorama will have to do with Calgary’s Military Museum, am I right?
Largest project? Here: Revell F-4E conversion to F-4E AUP Hasegawa Jaguar, making it exactly like a Granby bird F/A-18E Super Hornet (to be done as War Party 302)
Haha! Being Scottish I got a big but pleasant surprise when the Mrs came on!
Great build.
Excellent video & job building your kit bashed Royal Canadian Navy Seafire XV!
Excellent work... Loved the part with your wife chiming in... And the RCMP tip! :)

Most underrated model building channel, glad I found you, keep up the great work!
I’m currently finishing my first kit ever (Tamiya 1:48 Zero) and watching these videos is both overwhelming and exciting. There’s so much to learn!
I'm learning on every build. There are so many great builders on TH-cam that I follow that I'd be lost without. Plasmo, Scale-a-ton, Night Shift etc.

Thanks Chil,
I’ll be revisiting this again in the future as I found both kits needed for the kit bash
"If he yells "It's alive!", we run"
Very nicely done, Dr. Frankenstein! Keep up the good work!
Nice to see a good old fashioned "Kit Bash" again.
Thank you for some Canadian history, keep up the great work
I love your mofels and the info in the videos dont ever stop
Loved this build using two kits. Shows the difference in moulding quality between the two companies.
As a Canadian I appreciate your Canadian theme to your models.

Thanks Blaine! I did the Sea Fury last year and have plans to do an Avenger.
I love the Canadian military history and am enjoying watching your builds . I am planning to try my hand at modeling after a very long break
Awesome build and educational! Thanks for sharing! 😊👍

I have a pair of brick built, a Supermarine Spitfire MK VB & a Hawker Hurricane MK I from Cobi
Very cool Kitbash and really great work! My biggest project is the 35th scale Revell Germany Unimog with an completely scratchbuilt Ambulance Box with full interior from german Bundeswehr. Still not finished but getting closer.
That sounds awesome. I have a few vehicles in 1/35 but have only done the M5
Awesome your so talented I could only dream of taking on something like that.
My biggest kit is a 1/24 Thunderbolt needless to say its still on the shelf just reading the instructions is daunting.
Once again great work keep on making great videos.
Very cool video. I'm happy to have some of my weathering tricks validated
Great job, love the intervention from your Financial Controller! I get to enjoy hearing similar opinions from someone else under my roof!
I'm so happy I found your channel. Really great content here.
My biggest build was the F4J in 1/48 Phantom that Randy Cunningham flew when he became the 1st mig ace in the Vietnam War I was on the Constellation for 2 years I added aftermarket sets it turned out good even with brush painting thanks great job on your build
Like the history along the construction education. Enjoyed the wife comments too.
The Canadian stuff is a bit more heartfelt 😉 lol
Interesting build! Big gaps between parts I prefer to fill with sheet styrene stripes, then cut accesses with life or chisel
Outstanding, now I just might want to get that Airfix kit, I've resisted until now. You did a very good job with the conversion. Cheers.
My biggest. Tamiya 1/16 panther G built as my great uncles tank in April 45. There it is! Awesome job, man.
I love the history along with the modeling, very enjoyable.
The Revell kit is a reissued Special Hobby kit. Not too bad actually but as you say no wingfold.
Good to see a unique subject. Nice to see something different. Looking forward to the Sea Fury.
one of the best, and most underrated model channels out there
I'll take underrated before overrated any day :)
Yes finally came out this will be nice !!!!!!
My biggest model was a 1/48 monogram F-14

Probaby had to do with the wing not being thick enough further out to have a strong hinge mount.
Why haven't the model makers done a kit such as this before ? Such a nice job on her ! She's beautiful ! Very well done .
Kevin Chapman probably because there’s no real demand for it. Where as you can make all the P-51s and they’re always selling

I'm sure you probably invented many new swear words during the build, beautiful work!!👍
My experience shows that the old ones are pretty sufficient if continuously repeated in a louder and louder voice.

Hey I'm from Calgary too!!
GREAT vid, learned a lot. Thanks
Really enjoyed this latest video. Very informative. A couple of questions! How long should you leave the oil wash on for before removing it? And what make/type is your rotary tool? Many thanks.
I let the wash dry for about half an hour before wiping off. I use a Dremel for cutting
Nice build ! FYI "decal" in not pronounced "deckel" but "deecaal" both in the US and in the UK
Great build! What glue and accelerant were you using while gluing the sides? Thanks.
Could you build your academy with the resin goodies? I'd LOVE to see that.
Alvin Smith it’s currently on the bench
TAMFIX... what a nightmare, ill just stick to one or the other! Great looking build!

I have a few out right now for display at the local museum and once they're back I'll put up a photo in a video to show them
My largest one to date is Zoukei Mura’s 1/32 Ki-45 with full internal systems and details
My biggest project was the Russian 2A3 Kondensator
Hmmmm.... Diorama.... Seafire..... Sea fury.... Royal Canadian- wait a minute, I’ve seen this before, and I’ve also seen you before in the airshow in springban-🤭 I’m guessing this diorama will have to do with Calgary’s Military Museum, am I right?
Loosely based :)
