It was my first bike as well. Only I wrecked mine with about 500 miles on it so I couldn't resist when this one came up on Marketplace for a measly $600.
Been a long time since I heard a good ole Twice Stroked Yondamomma. I purchased the very first Yamaha sold in the state of Arkansas in 1963. A YA-6 125cc single lung. They had two 250s in the building but they hadn't received the Bill of Origin for them and couldn't sell them for almost a year. So, I bought what they had and I pushed it about 4000 miles. It would kick the Honda CA77s and CB77s butts for 250 feet. Always wanted a Catalina. lol
Catalina was my first motorcycle if you don't count a Whizzer motor that I put on my Schwinn.. It didn't last long. I was young and stupid and I wrecked it in the mountains above Berkley, CA.
Nostalgia! I purchased a new YDS3 in 1966, which was one of the first 2 stroke motorcycles with Autolube oil injection. I know it’s been a long time, but memory recalls that it ran much quieter than yours (no criticism) and far less ring ding ding on the overrun.
@@CRodsnare It's like when you run out of gas. When the mixture becomes lean, the engine will rev just before it dies. With bad crank seals you will be drawing extra air into the crankcase which is then sent to the combustion chamber with the vaporized gas. That creates a lean situation and causes the engine to rev higher when not under load.
I had this exact bike in 1968, my co-worker had Honda 305. Boy did we have fun.
My first bike was a YDS-3 in 1965. It was a great rider and I put 10K on it before I sold it. Now, I wish I had kept it.

I always liked their intake sound -

Yep she wanted to go not set still. LOL. Cool bike
Came over from Dale’s channel.
Welcome to the channel Cain. Dale is really way ahead of me in this game, but I get it done eventually.
beautiful, do you keep these bikes? love the ramp to your front door so you can bring in your baby's. just kidding LOL
Seems like it may be idling high due to running too lean maybe.
I think you're right, Maybe leaking seals or carb problems. I'll be going through the engine this spring.
I know that comment was over a year ago, but you were on the money. It definitely needs new crank seals.
@@oldguysoldbikes How does a leaking seal affect the idle speed?

This bike looks like the hungarian Pannónia P20. We buy the licenc for This bike, and we made hungarian Yamaha. 😁
