Raspberry PI - How to connect with Laptop using Direct Network Link

In my previous video I've demonstrated how to connect PI with Laptop using Internet sharing enabled.But at times connection toPI is refused in this method.
Here is a most reliable DIRECT NETWORK LINK method where Internet connection sharing is disabled & connected through RJ45 cable at Ethernet port. As RPI too is a computer this method allots IP in the range 169.254.x.x

I came here to figure out how to connect my raspberry pi to the internet VIA MY LAPTOP'S WIFI using ethernet.
Modifying the /boot/cmdline.txt file only adds a static IP which can be assigned to eth0, but it does not connect the raspberry pi to the internet over ethernet through your laptop.
So the useful part was knowing how to set up the static IP address.
Did it resolve the innernet connection problems? No, because it still requires connecting to Wifi, which defeats the purpose of me needing to use my laptop as a router when I need to do raspberry pi stuff at the coffee house or when the network admin think that little box I have is up to no good.

3:01 but you need to connect the laptop over lan to the router to activate this lan port and read it out. If its only on wifi, the ethernet-adapter ethernet shows 'medium cut'.

Ok, so I had the problem with the putty, where it would not connect. Well I just went to the putty -> Connection -> IPv4 (instead of auto) and it worked!!
Also, I had to change the last digits to .150 for some reason.

when I try to work with raspberry pi I ended up with knowing a bunch of ways to do this and most of them are not working.This is the simple and straightfoward way of doing this as far as I know, thanks!!!

The problem with it is. That my rasberry doesn't list on any IP when I search it over angry IP scanner......do my rasberry have to be connected to the same WiFi as my laptop and then my IP will show up

hello, i was connecting raspberry pi to my laptop through ethernet cable using ssh protocol of putty, once by mistake i disabled ssh in raspberry pi, and now i am not able to connect raspberry pi to my laptop using putty, i am not able to open raspberry pi to enable ssh in pi, and because of this i can not connect raspberry pi to my laptop, how can i connect raspberry to my laptop without ssh protocol using ethernet cable, your help will be appreciated.

Not the whole process. You just need to ssh every time. Either through PuTTY, or alternatively through command prompt via "ssh [e-mail]" (default password is "raspberry" unless you changed it) - all without quotes. If you need a graphical interface you can use an X server like he did, or enable VNC on your pi and use VNC viewer.

XMING running X11 server. The X11 for graphichal desktop ( etc for unix system KDE, Gnome, Xfce, this video lxde and more desktop utilies). if you want use linux your pc. its XMING not need. This program just for windows versions.

Thanks man. I was following your other tutorial "How to connect Raspberry PI to LAPTOP using Ethernet cable" and I couldn't get MobaXTerm to connect at the end. I guess following the instructions here to set up a static IP fixed my problem.
