Wow, thank you for this great information!
Having offset walls with half walls and low walls also create great opportunities for firing slits - it always bogged me to have the slit either too low or too high to really use this technique for shooting floors to my satisfaction.
Thanks to all the contributors including you, this has changed!
I really wonder what kind of possibilities may arise for stacked shooting floors with the combination of floor & wall height differences and gaps, but these come to my mind:
Having the capability to focus fire from multiple positions (floors - heigth) through one gap to safely cover an area could create multiple obstacles close to the defender where the attackers bullet has to pass by in order to successfully hit the shooter.
It also allows for the possibility to be combined with covering darkness (shooting floor) & blinding light (flashlight turrets & search lights) to further increase its effectiveness.
Being deep inside a shooting floor even during the day is increasing the difficulty to get hit drastically.
There are further options to create advanced masked firing positions to hide behind, like using wooden signs, armored doors, carpets, bear skins or well known second line embrasures right behind the multi level gap or just long distances between tight floors or gaps.
I wonder what this does with turret placement...
Like stacked turrets with different ammo types being firet from the same direction at one target - incendiary shotgun shells for spread of fire & incendiary 5,56 or 9mm for precision damage, forcing you to face multiple angry turrets when trying to fire at them through multiple gaps.
It also allows turrets to cover an area inside the core from the outside through such gaps, while sitting on an external tc, creating nasty surprises even in deeper layers.
You can place a turret between floor layers into a far away position while forcing movement from different elevations along this deadly gap, like in the frustrator loot rooms, making very hard to kill turrets which force raiders to attack a completely different and maybe even "useless" part of the base, to be able to destroy that deeply hidden turret effectively, because they are way out of range of any possible splash damage.
    Example:
The turret could be in a half-wall high "pocket" firing through a narrower floors gap at crouching headshot heigth - covering a floor hatch which might look like an easy way to go up / down, while out of harms way requiring a lot more boom...
It can also cover the inner shooting floor this way, making them very hard to use for the enemy without going nuts on their boom again.
If people also manage to place unlootable boxes between multiple armored floors, while still accessible from the top one where they walk on, also increasing quality of life by putting boxes out of the way - of course nastily covered by hidden turrets, just in case raiders make the effort... I will go completely nuts.
This opens up so many crazy possibilities, putting a whole new complexity level into base designs.
I really hope that the devs finally start embracing the creativity of the community, instead of looking for new ways to take away our options like they did with wall stacking and upkeep.

So I watched, it's really tricky to start but you can get the method down pretty well.
To expand on Evil's point to make it that little bit easier for you, when placing the second foundation, the right side of the blue support (The one that over laps the first foundation) Needs to be just touching the original support on the first foundation, then to get the height right, have a friend stand next to the foundation for you, you should be looking at his knee when you want to place! That's how you fit 2 stacks.
Hope it helps, awesome video man!

One easy way to implement this is to stack floor grills on top of a furnace base. Just got done making a design using this method, works well. Just be careful when placing the walls, stacking them to close won't allow you to place both floor grills.

Well, it's not just "Between two foundation". Rust checks if the new foundation is too close to a wall. Thus making it color red (not able to place foundation). Essentially, this takes advantage of Rust's misaligned foundation checking mechanism. Only allowing you to place the perfect foundation placement.

I build a lot on sandbox servers and mess around looking for exploits. I don't like to go public with stuff though because then it gets patched so much quicker. Spend some time on a sandbox trying to break stuff and usually after some time you can find something useful. Lag is a tool often over looked by many that can allow people to bypass certain rules of the game.

another way is to build a hexagon and build one layer out from it. delete the inner hex and place an offset tile in the middle. this creates a core that can be used to annoy raiders as they need to blow their way into it, destroying every tc they find to be able to place their own down. i think of it as a trojan tc because it is hidden on it's own. is not connecting any other tile and can easily be dismissed as just honeycomb

Can you elaborate further? I don’t understand exactly what the issue is

    • @o_Juffo_o
      @o_Juffo_o 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@EvilWurst Because you can only connect one roof to the floor, I cannot seem to connect them any further than one square or triangle in any direction. Only from the 3 different levels you marked out by crouching, they just break off from stability. I guess a 4x4 that Budsatswani made is the limit.
