- I love this scene because of Halle Berry’s acting. She really made her on screen presence in Chapter 3 memorable. I also love her Blood Oath Marker! And the conversation between her and John was beautifully crafted

He’s so stiff and uncomfortable. You can tell it was hard for Keanu to film that scene without petting the dogs.
He was actually told that Halle had them trained so well that he couldn't make eye contact with them because they were trained to protect her.

Later on In the movie when John and Sofia were in the desert, Sofia was drinking some water and then asked if John wanted some. She then spit the rest of the water that she drank and gave it to him. Pretty nasty but, it happened 😭

Without John, Sofia’s daughter probably would have died, that’s why she is helping him. She feels that she owes him for saving her daughter.

John is essentially doing what Santino did in John Wick 2. While the blood mark got John out of the hitman society with Santino’s help, Santino still by right could call John to do something for him.
It’s a good parallel since John is coming in doing the same thing to Halle Berry’s character.

So according to the rules of the High Table, you can’t help someone who is excommunicado. You also can’t deny a marker. So which tule overrules the other? If the excomunicado person holds your marker, then you’re screwed. Seems like a fault in the system from the High Table.
None of the actual writing in the John wick series is actually sensible/ good. Just a fun movie to watch some people pew pew and karate chop each other.
The rule of not helping someone who is excommunicated trumps the marker rule. However, as John said to Sophia, she needed him and he was there. Sophia could kill or throw John out and face no consequences from the high table.

The markers are only binding to whoever is being asked a favor. It's a kind of contract. So people not involved in the contract have no obligation to the persons involved in the contract. They have no obligation to respect John's life just because he has someone else's marker.

1. He died of a illness
2. He was excommunicado
3. John killed him
The most accurate one would be 3 John killed the farther and this would explain why Sofia has a massive grudge against John in the movie. After that Sofia decides she doesn’t want her child to live the same life she has as an assassin so she decides to hide her. John feeling bad for what he’s done offers to take her daughter somewhere safe so nobody will find her John and Sofia decides to make an oath to each other John hides the child and in return she has to do him a favour and that why John had a marker on Sofia
Very much doubt it, odds are someone from the life killed the father of her daughter and she had to find a way to hide her

Him being here, puts him in danger enough, but it also puts her in danger. If the High Table found out she helped John in anyway, even if she was legally obliged by the marker, they'd kill her and do unspeakable things to her daughter.
