I’ve always loved Alice, and for Christmas 97 she sent me a small autographed publicity photo from the 40s. I framed it and I’ve treasured it since. The old stars, many were so appreciative of fans and their letters. I got replies from Art Carney, Joyce Randolph (who was also a great replier), Dick van Dyke, Bob Hope, and Ann Rutherford, to name a few. I would write to stars today, but everyone I like is dead 😂

Lol ...Miss West was a longtime successful stage actress. She was only 5' tall and needed to be seen onstage. Part of " height inhancements" we're her wig up-do's and 8" shoes, custom made of course.
This was 2 years before Sexette (released 1978) and she's in MUCH better shape here. Too bad they didn't make the picture with THIS Mae, still able and sharp. She probably had a minor stroke between this show and the movie filming.
