      Lonnie Coleman wrote 3 books Beulah Land, Look away Beulah Land and the Legacy of Beulah Land. If you like to read you would love them. The only catch is to read them in order because the story encompasses the generations and by reading them in order you get to see who did what and how and to whom. You won't be disappointed.

    When Sara travelers to Atlanta to see Casey Troy, there is no way at that time that she would have traveled there to a public hotel like the DeKalb by herself. No decent woman ever traveled by herself ANYWHERE. She would have at least had a personal maid to dress her as putting on a corset, lacing one up, is impossible by yourself. Think of Scarlet and Mammy when Mammy was lacing Scarlet up when she was getting ready for the picnic at Twelve Oaks….it took the help of another woman. And it was just considered unsafe for a woman, married or not, to travel alone. I have a copy of Godey’s Lady’s Book from 1862 and it has lots of articles about life at that time. This movie has MANY inaccuracies about daily plantation life. This book is incorrect about many things. And although the clothing is beautiful and accurate the hairstyles and make-up is definitely not.

      Paul Ryan Rudd played Leon Kendrick, who was in most scenes. This series was made in 1980. So if you are thinking of the guy from 'Friends", you are way off. BTW, this Paul Rudd was born in 1940.

    • @michaelmurray9908

      Leon Kendrick. He did an excellent job of being mealy mouth weak man. His behavior translated from the books should have gotten him an Emmy. Actually they all did quite well.

    This series got the costumes done pretty well, but the hairstyles are pretty bad for the period. This series was done better than North and South, the accents are better here.

    • @MsGbergh
      @MsGbergh ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought that about the hairstyles too. Women did not normally have their hair just hanging loose, especially for formal occasions when it would be put up.

    The richer people get as to own the land and people as slaves and the more cruel and heartless they become, no wonder why the poor people revolt, and war comes and kills more of them. Eventually, so-called humans will be extinct and all there will be left will be ruins and desolation. All in all they are speaking monkeys putting on their best show . Hopefully, the birds and the bees will survive after they all pass away. 🪔Gone with the wind. 🌬📯💥

    • @nancycurtis488
      @nancycurtis488 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not all wealthy people are cruel and heartless. I have known people who had hardly a cent to their names and were cruel, mean and heartless. I knew John Denver and Dennis Weaver…John Denver from the time I was about 14 years old to when he died in 1997 and met Dennis and his sweet wife in 1987. Such caring wonderful people. Just one instance of a poor, horrible person is named Charles Manson and is a name that you recognize I am sure and who, thank God, is finally dead and gone to his eternal reward in hell and he is not the only killer who was not wealthy. Just go through a list of serial killers and find a rich one who owned a lot of land. You might say Adolf Hitler but as evil as he was I don’t believe he was personally wealthy or owned a lot of land…he was simply evil. So I don’t think your theory holds water.
