What a treat seeing all these first class actors perform in their heyday....especially Mz Warren. I've always thought she never received the roses and awards she so richly deserved.
This is the second time I have watched this series of 3 movies and it is absolutely wonderful!!! Very excellent acting, scenery, script, n story. Lesley Ann Warren has been a favorite of mine since 1965, when she appeared in "Cinderella", the Rodgers n Hammerstein musical that appeared on television back then I am 66 years old now and I still think she is superb!!!!! Thanks for posting!!!
Please don’t tell me you believe these “historical” dramas!! Even Alex Haley admitted the background story off Roots was made up trying to make the story more interesting. Dome on now - this the worse edited show of fiction I have ever had the displeasure to watch!!
Thank you for showing this movie Wow. How amazing my great great grandfather was living during those years; he was a young adult during the civil war. Nowadays it's difficult to believe this daily life; as part of our American History, but it's true. Good actors depicting the historical past.
One reason I like this series is it shows that all Southerners in the Old South were not bad, and all Yankees were not good. As a native Southerner , {over 250 years of my ancestors have lived in Southern Virginia, and they fought for the Confederate Army, but they owned no slaves, they fought to protect their home and state} I like that this movie was not made in todays society of anti southern political correctness.
This miniseries was a surprising treat to watch!! I wonder what year this was filmed originally,?! And how did I ever miss seeing it for the first time?!? I was exceedingly delighted by the choice of actors n especially am a giant fan of Lesley Ann Warren, going all the way back to the Cinderella by Rogers n Hammerstein tv special which I saw originally when I was 8 yrs old!!! Recently I am have had the pleasure of reliving that wonderful teleplay from 1965 aired here just before I found this awesome movie!!! The many surprising twists in the story were extremely interesting n reminiscent of film noir, if which I am a devotee!!! Thank you for an absolutely fabulous viewing,!!!
The Civil War was not fought over slavery…it was fought over States Rights and was lost because the southern states did not have the industrial capabilities that the north had.
Also, discovering that the organization called Allating was responsible for this posting, and discovering what it stands for and represents makes this viewing even more enjoyable, as it is a very necessary and forthright cause!!!

So the doc at the end of movie trying to keep the kids from going to school, a corrupt sheriff is the Doc on Little House on the Prarie. That's funny. I think this movie he played in before the Little House Series. Great movie, but so sad as people die so suddenly like the kind first black overseer. I love that actor/he's a star & so handsome. xoxo

It's not very clear on this film, but I remember on my vhs copy the last scene of the buggy ride to the front door, when the camera pans up you can see cars on the highway in the background.
They basically got a taste of what it was like to be slaves, who also were savagely mistreated. Sowing and reaping is very real. Thats why it is best not to mistreat anyone. Release evil into the universe it will surely find it's way back to you!

I pulled out my old paperback copy of this. They were comparing this book to Gone With the Wind. NOT EVEN CLOSE, GWTW was a better book by far, no comparison. This one was lascivious and foul. The mini-series is pretty good, although they changed some plot points I think were unnecessary. It is better than “North and South”, the clothes and accents are better. Best thing about it: it ain’t “woke”.
An overseer’s cabin would NEVER have been built down in the front of the main plantation house……it would have been far in the back by the slave quarters. Everything is not accurate in this movie. There are things that are different from the book. I have copies of both books that I have had for close to 40 years.
This is the worst edited show I have ever seen. You cut out parts, jump all other the place, introduce new characters without any background,change actors repeatedly and the whole thing as a production sucks big time!! The story m❤Ishtar have been good if one could follow it. I am sad I wasted 4 hours today trying to watch it. Sucks big time!!!!!!
