- Watch the complete final round broadcast of the 2001 Masters. Tiger Woods wins his second Masters and his fourth consecutive professional major title. David Duval and Phil Mickelson finish two and three strokes back, respectively.
Thanks for keeping these legendary rounds alive, they bring me back in ways that just are unexplainable.
Thank you, Masters, for posting all of these!!! Sports nerds like me greatly appreciate it!!
327 yard drive on the 72nd hole...with a 43 inch steel shaft, an old Nike golf ball it was a fade with minimal roll. Probably a 315-320 carry. With today's equipment(2 inch longer graphite shaft, better golf ball, lower spin rates) it's an easy 340 carry. He was such a beast back then.
No u.
Imagine if he had to play it with persimmon...
Alot of people can drive it 300-330...maybe not everyday weekend golfers but pro and amateur

It was a 43.5 inch 7.5° Titleist 975D with Dynamic Gold X100 and Golf Pride Velvet Cord grip logo down, swingweight around D4.
Plays traditional lofts in his irons, even now. He was longer with his irons than even the pros now, but he didn’t need to be.
And at this point in his career, he played a still very spinny golf ball, not very forgiving. This was the greatest 20 month ride in Golf History. Tiger actually won 5 out of 6 majors from the ‘99 PGA to the 2001 Masters… Absolute GOAT stretch. 17 Tour wins in 20 months.

Tiger at best a Top 5 Golfer barely...
Youngsters these days will possibly never know how big of a deal this tournament was at the time. People forget Duvall had knocked Tiger off the world number 1 spot. Mickleson playing at his tops. It was awesome to behold live.
The golf journalism world is probably sick to death of the hyperbole (I distinctly remember Dan Jenkins in Golf Digest trying his hardest to temper the Tigermania in the mid-2000s, haha), but you're absolutely right. Tiger's dominance during this period prevented a LOT of excellent golfers from earning their own first major(s).
Duvall is such an interesting story. Seemed so determined and once he achieved the Open, he just faded away...almost immediately.
@@pdc-cp4uv I forget which of the golf magazines followed up with him with an interview a while back, but the gist of it that I remember was that by the time he had won the Open in 2001, he had been nursing quite a few injuries that finally caught up with him. (It's also why he has a noticeable reverse pivot in his swing from this point forward - a testament to his talent that he still made it not only work, but competitive!)
It further compounded with his driver "yips", and it combined with a general exhaustion from the pressures of the PGA tour.
@@pdc-cp4uv Then he made a cameo at the 2009 U.S. Open. Duval missed about a 3 foot putt on the 71st hole otherwise he would’ve been in a playoff with Lucas Glover.

Lol whats the personal reasons? Do tell please.
Pretty pathetic he declined an interview after losing to Tiger, he’s a very poor sport!! Plus the broadcast mentioned his contract dispute with equipment manufactures during this production, (granted I know there is always two sides to a story) but he doesn’t sound like a class act to me. I listened to him over the years on the radio after the fact & he sounded fine, but he’s definitely a poor sport & golf is a gentleman’s game, so shame on him, he doesn’t get a pass from me.
@@jeffmorrison6086 Understandable. He had a back injury so it's difficult to determine if he wanted to be with his family or he had no choice. I didn't know those things but I still had a special place for an alumni former no. 1, granted for only a short time.

That year and a half stretch he had between October of 97 and April of 99 was amazing. He won 11 times during that stretch...definitely the best golfer on the planet during that time. And that 59 he shot at the 99 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic on Sunday to win by one shot was also amazing.
One of the greatest accomplishments ever in all of sport. We may never see something like this ever again.
I think with the PGA moving to May, it may give someone the chance to go on an amazing 3 month run.
adampincente209 it’s possible, spieth could have won all 4 back in 2015 with the current schedule
woulda coulda....the game is filled with them....only two slams have come true.
Don’t forget Tiger also won The Players two weeks before this Masters, so he held the 5 biggest prizes in golf all at the same time with this win. I would say it’s impossible if it hadn’t been done. It will never be done again and if it is I’ll be the first guy to admit I was wrong but it’s just not possible.
amlnet49 with the talent in todays game, it’s highly unlikely because the competition every week but one of the young guys could do something special. Rory and jordan are the two that come to mind when it comes to something like a grand slam
The 2021 Masters is not the same without the GOAT. Get well soon Tiger.

What an influence on modern golf Earl Woods had. RIP sir.
You beat me to it, I was going to say the same thing. The Green Beret mentality he instilled in Tiger cannot be overstated. Well done Earl! Your crafting of the greatest golf machine ever built (mentally and physically) combined with Tida's gift (spirituality), is not overlooked by a white, early 50's carpenter from Chicago let alone humanity as a whole...
He helped build a golf machine. That's true. While as a dad, he contributed to the failure of Tigers personal life.
1:22:08 - The greatest swing ever, and one of the best tee shots on 13 I've ever seen over the years.
This was a straight missile launch with 40+ feet of curve. You can hear the fans going bananas when they hear his ball land right next to them and realize it’s his tee shot. It was also like 35 yards past Phil

the first and only time a player has won 4 consecutive majors, but he didn't win all of them in the same year. he won the '00 US Open, British Open, PGA Championship, and the '01 Masters... it's the closest anyone's ever come to the Calendar Slam (winning all 4 majors in sequential order in the same year)... I introduced your channel to several individuals and they pick it up like you have taught me
I'm walking the 9 now and your method is my pathway I stop beating myself up I've been tamed 😊.I'm not whacking away at it anymore.
I'm very interested in how low can I actually get my score if I truly concentrate at this and use your technique I'm in a new place now with distance my short game has to get better putting is okay but choosing the right club when you're 120 yards out or 150 out whichever one making the right decision is key I'm sure you'll come out with a video on your short game soon thanks a lot You're humble student Eric Howard Sr
love the steel shafted 975 driver he had in those days with that swing so much more control seem when he went to graphite his driving accuracy went downhill see the beginning of duvals career breakdown too could have easily won this tilt imo
I cannot understand what happened to David Duvall's golf game. Dude had such a sweet and smooth swing but then he just disappeared?
Tons of injuries.
This version of Tiger is THE GREATEST GOLFER OF ALL TIME. UNSTOPPABLE.
78 yards out on 18?
Duval did get redemption Three months later by winning the 2001 open championship
