Secret Cut Flower Garden Tips: Grow, Harvest, Arrange at Home in July

- In this video, I share with you cut flower gardening tips and ideas for home, how to care of flower plants, how to start and grow a flower garden, how to harvest flowers from the home garden in July. I also take you to a mini garden tour, showing beautiful flowers that are blooming. I will also show how to arrange a rainbow hand-tied spiral garden bouquet and small flower arrangements in mason jar similar to what I sell at my roadside flower stand.
About Me: Hi! My name is Crane. I grow cut flowers in my suburban cottage home garden in a naturalistic style in New Jersey Zone 7. I make garden bouquets and sell at the roadside stand in front of my house. I also grow all kinds of vegetables and, sometimes, cook. I grow ornamental landscape plants and trees as well as create sanctuary for wildlife, birds, insects, etc. Thank very much for visiting my channel. Any question, please let me know in the comment.

This is the first video I have ever seen o yours. You are adorable! I am old enough to be your grandma and I would grow with you if I lived closer. I grow almost the same flowers as you do every year. I bring large spirals to work and to my mom weekly besides photographing and filming. I didn't want your video to end today. So good! Love the rainbow bouquets and your commentary about Pride. The collab with the bakery was so inviting. You and Jason have an awesome community there. I totally empathize with your struggles with the critters. I love how you try to protect but also accept that it's a shared space. I used to try to fill the holes and tunnels the chipmunks made in my garden, but now I just coexist. Still not happy when they eat my seeds or dig up my transplants, but it's all part of it. Just need to keep rolling and keep trying. I have also taken grocery store bouquets apart and reworked and wow can you stretch them and improve them when you add your own stems. Thanks for the reminder to keep planting through the hot summer. We might miss so many varieties if we only focus on spring and fall. Good time to rescue plants at the nursery!

In a dark world you are a ray of sunshine ❤. When I have a crop that is susceptible to pest or bird damage. I cover with frost cloth. I leave the cloth on and they grow perfectly fine until they are large enough for me to plant out, and or later in the fall when the cabbage moth is gone.

I took my Mom to Lowes yesterday and there were so many clearanced plants!! I was telling her (she's new to gardening) you could get this this and this and it's HALF OFF! Then I pointed out all the plants I've bought that were in bad shape and said once you trim off the dead, plant it in the right spot, give it some biotone and water consistently, it will be beautiful in less than a month! Totally agree with you about planting in the summer. Give the plant what it wants and it will be happy 😊

I went to the garden center yesterday just to "look" and came home with a car full. I am not going to feel guilty because EVERYTHING WAS 75% OFF and they had a big rack of free items!
I have neighbors asking me..."when will you be finishing your garden?" I say.."when I die" 😊
I also wanted to say that I am proud of you. I grew up in a very strict German household in Canada. I always knew I was different too. I went through 2 marriages and then at 46 I followed my truth.
I am now 55 with 5 grandchildren and an amazing partner. I have never felt such comfort and peace and I am so thankful that I finally listened to my truth.

You had me laughing so much at the end! I am also having a terrible time with Cosmos, of all things. I had to resow several times. I was curious about how the burlap would work. Sorry it didn’t. For my sunflowers I have lengths of a small gauge wire grid that I tent over them and then add netted fabric over that for about the first 3 weeks. Even then it doesn’t always work!!! Your garden is still so beautiful, and everything will be all right😂❤

I learned alot in this one! Very interesting comparison on the fertilized vs non fertilized cosmos. I may have overdone it. My stalks are like an inch! A tad bit too thick. But i am absolutely blown away by your double cosmo, i was wondering what flower it was!

Good to know the birds prefer the sunflower seeds to blueberries...but even cat birds? I think I'll experiment with this next year. I don't mind sacrificing sunflowers to feed birds. Maybe they'll not eat as many of the Asian bittersweet berries too? I think I will spend the rest of my retirement pulling up Asian bittersweet! Ugh! 😂🙄
