- Adeyto talks to the Legendary world-renowned Japanese master of Shotokan karate, HIROKAZU KANAZAWA 金澤 弘和, born on 3 May 1931. He is the Chief instructor and President of the Shotokan Karate-Do International Federation, and travels to 123 countries teaching the style of Gichin Funakoshi, founding father of Shotokan Karate.

He graded me for my second dan; what an honour...
same here, had a few gradings with him and weekend training also when he came to do gradings...

Kanazawa was the Chief Referee of my Kumite Championship match at the 1984 Ozawa Cup. The was a great memory.

"casser la planche mouillée" "l'accident une bonne occasion" ,le karaté organique à 60 ans,sa mère était une mère à l'ancienne à l'esprit très budo,une phrase qui m'a fait beaucoup rire:"tout le monde glissait par les fenètres pour éviter de combattre avec kanazawa!cet homme la m'a redonné un souffle de vie!

i don't understand why there are traditional samurai armor in the background. Karate is not something the samurai practiced. the practiced kenjitsu and jujitsu. a kick to a sword isn't effective. Okinawa is the birthplace of karate. it was developed in secret for hundreds of years for self defense from the sword wielding samurai who controlled okinawa
we just filmed it in my father's meeting room, that's all, nothing to do with karate/samurai

@michaelbird27 Karate was only used by Okinawan nobles to protect themselves against disgruntled Okinawan thugs.
your father is the coolest then :D may i ask if they are original samurai armors? or replicas? are they expensive? thx
