After seeing the finale this song would be perfect for the backstory of the Titan(King’s father) and how he cursed the Collector, a child, out of fear of what he could, especially to his only living child. And in trying to prevent a monster he ended up creating one
This may seem a bit dark for some folks, but Caleb’s death is kind of grim irony. As the animator showed, he spent years wallowing in ignorance and blind hate. I don’t doubt that Phillip wanted to follow in his elder brother’s footsteps and become a great witch hunter. Retribution came back to haunt Caleb, though. He didn’t get to leave behind all his sins as his ran away with the witch he fell in love with. No, the monster he created, his own brother, hunted Caleb down the same way the two of them hunted down all those innocent people. He paid with his life just as all those innocents paid with theirs.
I don't really buy the whole "Caleb abandoned Philip for 5 years so he could elope with his hot witch girlfriend" idea, because that honestly doesn't really seem to be in his character. And do you remember the line that Masha said in Thanks to them? "They used a secret code to travel between worlds" it honestly sounds like it was something that the 2 would do very often over a long period of time so that they wouldn't arouse too mush suspicion, and so that they could have the best of both world's. And do you really think caleb would just abandon the only living family he has left, his baby brother, just so he could enter a relationship with somebody? I doubt he would even do that in the human realm. Who says he couldn't have both? (Philip obviously, but nobody could have predicted THAT.) Honestly, the whole "Caleb abandoned Philip." Sounds like something the latter made up to further his own narrative. We all know how obsessed Philip was with being the hero of his own story. So he could have just said that to justify his own actions. I mean, he made similar excuses with all the grimwalkers "betraying" him, so who's to say he didn't do the same thing here right?
Brooooooo. That scene where he walked past the burning pole and you drew the woman gave me chills. Something about the way she's drawn just feels so horrifying, burning alive as puritans cheer and taunt her. I loved this so much!!!
Now I need Fight Little Wolf with Phillip confronting Caleb, then their battle, going into the Possessed Hunter sequence. I think the line about 'running out of bones to break' would work so well with the Grimwalker concept.
Absolutely amazing. A beautiful animation showing a great tragedy between brothers. Caleb was a gentle and kind man, who was backstabbed by his brother both figuratively and literally.
This is absolutely amazing!!!! I'm a big fan of Epic the Musical and an even bigger fan of The Owl House. This song fits perfectly into the Wittebane Brothers' backstory. Also, the way you depicted the witch being burned at the stake and Caleb being stabbed by Phillip completely broke me. I was tearing up through the entire duration of this animatic. I will forever miss The Owl House...and Caleb. All the amazing memories I have of this show and all the shit it helped me get through. I wouldn't be who or where I am today without The Owl House. Anyway, thank you so much for creating this. You did a phenomenal job. 💛💛💛

I have seen the witches for what they really are. I do not fear reality as you do! He thought the Collector was reasonable to other Titan kids disappearance but it was his siblings who took the Titan babies because of their power.
