Not animated, but my familiarity with the show is 100% through this amazing comic some person makes in the original animation style, that keeps getting new episodes posted on image sharing communities.
It’s stuff like this that makes me appreciate Luz as a protagonist all the more than I already do. The moment that she realized that he was around her age was when she showed him the light. She made him feel like an actual person and when he was scolded by her, it came from her sense of empathy and desire to protect the palismen. One of those palismen being Flapjack. She allowed the two to meet and allowing for his development by having him care for a palismen that’s stubborn to stay by his side. Amity after being with Luz for so long begins to understand not needing to justify her own existence and relays that information to Hunter and how he shouldn’t have the need to justify his own existence. However him seeing the key sets him off but it turns around as he learns Flapjack’s name and begins to bond with him due to him never once leaving his side. Willow and Gus are what truly brought the best out of him thanks to both of them having a clean slate with him and not knowing all too much about him. Thanks to a confident Willow and Gus keeping an eye on him. Hunter sees them for who they really are. Strong and caring friends. Unrelated but if it wasn’t for Luz ever coming to the Boiling Isles, Willow would be working for Amity without her ever getting any development. Gus also brought out the better in Hunter thanks to his general caring nature and sort of got him to act as an older brother to him by protecting Gus from Gray. Ironically the deep breathing Gus told Hunter about was originally from Willow, once again leaning into Hunter’s affection for Willow kicking in. Hunter owes so much to Luz as she was the one who helped him see the truth for what it is and being the one to lend a helping sleeve as he sinks deeper into Belos’ mindscape. She even told the Hexside gang to not scare Hunter away because she knew that he was in a terrible mental state. And because of that, it allowed him to not be antagonized by the school and allowed him the opportunity to truly turn sides. Now he wakes up not in the grasp of Belos(entirely). But instead surrounded by people that care about him and are willing to help him. It’s just as Eda once said, “My life is pretty great because I’m friends with Luz the Human”

But I feel like it could’ve been resolved somehow eventually by either Willow or Amity but definitely Luz sped up this process and gave them a healthier start.
2:45 wanted to get a closer look at willow and amity being besties but was pleasantly surprised to find a coven scout in the family guy death pose. amazing attention to detail!
This animatic brings me pure joy in a way I can’t explain. Luz’s relationship with Hunter is one of the best I’ve ever seen. She took a puppet of Belos’s and showed him that he was following the wrong path. The way she comforted him in Thanks To Them, when they went into the basement of the old house in search of Belos, where she told him that they were family was such an important role for Hunter. Belos never told him that he loved him, or even really that he cared, compared to Luz telling him that he was family now, and hugging him. It’s such a small scene with so much emotion packed into it. For sure my favorite scene in the show.
1:27 This shot where Hunter's hopeful eyes are replaced by Belos' angry eyes is incredible. Where Hunter sees getting the key as a victory, Belos sees as failure.

THIS WAS SO GOOD, OH MY GOD. I absolutely love the direction you took with all the different scenes, and the "brother" being represented by different people involved with his story! And the little moments too, like Hunter just frantically grabbing Flapjack close to his chest the moment he spies Belos, because he knows what'll happen, oh my god that hit my heart. And god, the framing was already so good, BUT THEN THAT HOLLOW MIND SECTION HIT. That circling effect, it feels nauseating, like how the impact of everything must feel. And that ending! Oh my god, just. The aftermath of the finale and the exhausted feeling of it all is. Oh my god I cannot love this enough, it hits all the right places!!
Yeah the lyrics really work for the different sections. Belos being a bird lying to a fish about what it can be, then Luz being the sibling that starts to open his eyes to the world, flapjack providing empathy, the emerald entrails providing something new as well a feeling of belonging, then back to Belos’s lies and manipulation, then Luz opening his eyes fully and Gus helping him through it. Ah it’s so good and well thought out!

Im very quite impressed how the movement of each characters are. impressing animation indeed and in short amount time of Hunter's story you clearly told everything that we need to know and when he got the nightmares and went to the window, was really nice seeing Willow and Gus giving support to him but of course being the younger one, both Willow and Hunter supported Gus. Really amazing, really good job :D

Hunter has such admirable traits that would lead him to flourish in the right environment, but he is kept from developing by a regime that exploits those same traits to keep him a compliant asset. This is absolutely gorgeous!! The way you portray Hunter, his experience, and emotions does his character such justice! 2:05 - 2:22 however is my favorite scene in this, and it give me chills every time I watch it! There's something so deeply uncomfortable about watching Hunter's reaction to seeing Belos that brings the watcher back to the fact that Belos is and was abusive towards Hunter. Great job again, I cannot stop coming back to watch this!

This entire animation was BREATHTAKING. The shots and framing, the lighting, the symbolism, the way the visuals matched the words, the LIP SYNC... the whole thing wrenched at my heart, and the extra scene at the end destroyed what was left of it. You should be proud of yourself, this is GORGEOUS!

HOLY- this was so good!! The expressions, the perspective, the story- everything was so well done and executed! The fluid animation when Hunter jumps down into the paintings and when he runs with Gus are so smooth and dynamic!! OMG and when he bumps into Belos- the look of FEAR in Flapjack’s eyes, that scene is incredible! This must have taken so long, but it’s beautiful work. I love it!

This was an amazingly well done animation with a great song chosen for it. The part after the waking up was so well done as well, the silence, save for the storm sounds spoke so much about the pain of the experiences but at least Hunter was not alone, he had Gus and the one who will always catch him, Willow.

I love how this song fits Hunter so darn well. Hunter has such admirable traits that would lead him to flourish in the right environment, but he is kept from developing by a regime that exploits those same traits to keep him a compliant asset. That part of his story fits the concept of the song so well it’s like it was written for him.

This is absolutely gorgeous!! The way you portray Hunter, his experience, and emotions does his character such justice! 2:05 - 2:22 however is my favorite scene in this, and it give me chills every time I watch it! There's something so deeply uncomfortable about watching Hunter's reaction to seeing Belos that brings the watcher back to the fact that Belos is and was abusive towards Hunter. Great job again, I cannot stop coming back to watch this!

BEST ANIMATIC EVER OMG THE TRANSITIONS
This was an amazingly well done animation with a great song chosen for it. The part after the waking up was so well done as well, the silence, save for the storm sounds spoke so much about the pain of the experiences but at least Hunter was not alone, he had Gus and the one who will always catch him, Willow.
