A quick note: I have it on good authority that Blind Window Technology is on the chopping block. So play with it while the demo is out, there's a very good chance these techniques will be dead by 1.0! Previous video is here: th-cam.com/video/Aiih7D9K9L8/w-d-xo.html
Appreciate it, mate! Means a ton! I don't know how much more I'll have for the demo build at this rate - though I might drop some more gameplay. Will definitely stick around to play with the release build though! In the meantime, there'll be a steady diet of pointing at the pictures in the dev logs and talking about things they're hiding from us! Edit: And I do mean that it means a ton. Big part of my motivation for these videos is to show people how much you can DIY in the game already. So for people to be receptive to that and not just go "pff I'd rather they added this as a button, I won't bother til then", that means a ton!
I like the ramp made of the roof pieces. I imagine it being good for people to get carts and wagons up and down. Really cool, and I'm not sure I would've thought about that.
Thank you for all these new build tips. Not only is this game amazing but the community has been so clever and sweet and sharing! I love watching vids of tips n tricks and awesome builds but also watching people discover the game for the first time is do very wholesome! I’ve never quite heard the absolute delight of discovery and wonder in people with a new “ toy” before! Watching people who are artists and most who are just discovering that Anyone can be an artist has, as an art teacher, filled me with joy! While I love Devs that have been as hands on and in tune with the community as these devs are I have never before wanted to Meet Devs in real life to pick their brains as I do with this group. Just to learn all the thought processes that went into the design and to bask in the love you can just feel they lavished on this project.
The "cart tracks" at 22:00 are actually more like automobile tracks. That kind of track is made by a vehicle with wheels on either side, but no horse in the middle. That makes perfect sense if (like with your wheelchair ramp) this build is supposed to be in a more modern setting, like an old restored country manor being serviced by cars and tractors, but for a Medieval setting, a single path would make more sense.
I did ponder that, funnily enough! I don't remember what history related youtube channel it was that first pointed me out to "This is not what a horse-drawn cart track would look like." Might've been a Lindybeige video about "ancient paths" in Greece... Anyway, I decided to omit the technicalities and elected to help spread misconceptions about history, mea culpa
ok this is so sick, the timber work is next level ! i'm really amazed with what you achieve within the demo's basic tools, can't wait to see what you do on full release haha (could i suggest you to add auto subtitles please ? i could help, thanks !)
I am just as amazed how much can be done with just the demo's tools as well! Part of the reason for making these videos is to show people that there's more fun to be had after they've placed their third square and drawn their second wall. I think the game has a tendency to trick people into thinking "Alright, I tried all the buttons, I'm done now." And sure! Of course! Hadn't given it any thought before but I've pushed the auto subtitles out for the time being. For the 40+ Video as well.
Yeah half the fun with this game is just messing around and trying stuff and all of sudden you have this really cool structure that you ( and prolly the devs) had no idea was possible. It’s such a relaxing game but everything I makes creates an underlying sense of excitement!
@@freakout3516 thanks a lot for the subtitles that sweet ! yea that right i'm actually the "i tried all the buttons" player haha i don't go outside the box by myself.. so your content is a bless ! it was the same for PlanetZoo/Coaster i've learned a lot from youtube creators,so thanks again !
8:50 is it possible to hide lanterns within the pillars to create a hanging "bell" inside? I can see it in my mind's eye, but am not familiar enough with the limitations yet. It'd be like your well at the end of last video! Edit: I stand corrected. I saw the lantern issue at 11:00 and can now see that a bell tower is too tall to make that work. Ah well, back to the drawing board.
Solid idea though, I like that you're thinking along! Best I can offer is attaching a lantern to a thin piece of freehand-wall. Around two bricks wide is the thinnest you can get and still be able to attach a lantern to the side. Going by the horizontal brick rows they added a while back, your max height for your bell would be on the fourth floor - which isn't terrible. I might try how that looks sometime!
As in: The "half-timbering at around 5:56 and onwards? Nowhere explicitely, I suppose. It's just a utilization of "blind windows" as demonstrated around 3:26. The thicker beams on the corners are lanterns as shown in th-cam.com/video/Aiih7D9K9L8/w-d-xo.html at 29:53. Lest I am misunderstanding the question!
i'm surprised auto ground clutter is a thing, it's really bad imo except for windows. why can't they just make the assets individually into a new menu option? they could even make interesting tools with clutter like they have with building
It's not just you. That being said, it's not a view I personally share. With the building mechanics being partially procedural, you're always going to be able to do more with the tools than the tools themselves were intended for. With the devs not having fallen for the "Let's just do early access for 6 years while we nickel and dime people on patreon" - meme and with them actually wanting to release the game sooner rather than later, I think the situation is fine. I much prefer being able to extract 300 hours worth of bootleg building techniques out of a limited toolset, than them coming out with some Medieval Engineers-style build menu that includes everything I can think of wanting but leaves me stranded if I want to do anything else. I'm happy that the game *can* accomodate me. Same way that Minecraft is not made for anything that's not square but people have still come up with designs that emulate arches and domes of various shapes and sizes well enough to work visually. Being able to do more with the game than the game itself intends is kind of part and parcel of a good building game IMO
Thank you! I'm afraid I'm not at liberty to share the link - however anybody who can get the demo, can also find the Discord. - In terms of animals, there's been a lot of talk about that but nothing confirmed yet as far as I can tell! Seems like water is coming so it'd be waste if there wasn't any water-based animals to populate your ponds. I'll upload a video whenever we get a dev diary that tells us more in any case.
Ohai! Thanks for reaching out, I appreciate it. I was planning on laying low a bit unless something revolutionary happens before the demo goes down again. Who knows if I actually manage to *not* make a third one but for the time being I'd like to decline any responsibility that would come with collab'ing ^^ Leave myself wild and free to do or don't, yknow?
If we're talking *completely bricked out blind window* then nah, it doesn't glow. Just tried to be sure, in fact. The "glow" of the window isn't real - insofar as it is rendered on the plane that glass is on. Since you're covering that up, the game also doesn't render the glow. It's pretty much a texture.
I was wondering if I'd get this question with how much I namedropped it! It's kept a bit lowkey so I'm not at liberty to share the link. I can assure you that anybody who plays the demo can find the way to the Discord tho!
I hope so! Wouldn't want to bring the production schedule out of whack just because I screamed loudest, but some of these incidental features I am quite fond of and would love to become official.

6:04 try to make Half-Hipped roof please (otherwise called Jerkinhead Roof). I wanna know if its possible
Bro imagine this is literally just a demo mode and it's already complexity level! Cant wait for full!
Just discovered you a few days ago. You are now my go-to guy for all things Tiny Glade. So excited to see what you and your Discord pals come up with!

the ruins at 33:00 look like something out of botw's temple of time ruins lol
Where do you explain how to get the wooden frame man? I can't find it in the previous video or this one. Awesome tips by the way!

Wouldn’t a flower box make the shutters inoperable?
I secretly ponder sometimes if that is the reason why they disappeared!

The key is hidden in the demo and should reveal itself before long
