Tiny Glade 101 - All basic controls and interactions demonstrated in... 58 minutes? Seriously?
Who'd watch that? I don't know but I made it. Inspired by and made with the help of diplopanda, as well as beefsupreme. Panda made a previous video on the same topic which you can find here:
th-cam.com/video/MHkZI4uHlVQ/w-d-xo.html
However, as I've received a few questions under my own videos, I thought I'd make one as well! Both Panda and beef were so kind as to watch an early cut and tell me what I've missed and what I should add. Big thanks and a shoutout to them!

      I did at first! You can kinda see my process in the timelapse: th-cam.com/video/oFrOx8B_HG0/w-d-xo.html I stopped doing that once I got to the area behind the townhall though. Primary advice that I have is: If you're going to use flat-roof pieces as road, make them wider than the "road" is supposed to be. Make sure that the "road" extends into the buildings. Otherwise the game will be very hesitant to spawn clutter. Beyond that, I must admit that I kind of went about it without a real plan in place.

    • @freakout3516
      @freakout3516 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I can see it, yeah. That being said what I appreciate about Tiny Glade is that the tools have the flexibility to actually be used in lifehacks. Would be much worse - for me anyway - if I had a Medieval Engineers-type item menu and was just straight-up gimped if I wanted to build something not included in it. *That* being said, putting in a lot of effort in working around the game's limitations so far has been one of the prime ways to get featurs into the games. Both the ability to raise blocks vertically as well as half-timbering were implemented in response to players bootlegging them. Fingers crossed this trend will continue. Yesterday we just got the ability to change your glade's season. After it became commonplace for players to edit their savefiles to do it lol

    How do you get straight wall sections without subdivisions? Is it just a matter of having a steady hand?

    • @freakout3516
      @freakout3516 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Easiest way is to draw a short piece of wall, right-click the wall and grabbing one of the control nodes like at 15:43 and dragging that to where you need it. The game will always draw a perfectly straight wall between two nodes. Hope that helps!

    • @MandleRoss
      @MandleRoss วันที่ผ่านมา

      I saw a hint in another video to move the camera up then point in straight down, rotate into the orientation you want, start your wall, and then MOVE THE CAMERA in a straight line in the direction you want the wall to go, instead of drawing with the mouse. Instant perfectly straight wall!

    I have a question: is there a damn way to save a project/build or do you have to cancel everything and restart from scratch each time?

    • @freakout3516
      @freakout3516 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Saves are generally automatic. Provided that you don't crash out of the game your work should be saved as soon as you open the main menu.The Load menu that appears once you have more than one save scrolls horizontally so some of your saves may be off-screen

    • @MandleRoss
      @MandleRoss วันที่ผ่านมา

      As far as I know, you can't save a project in various stages (a damn shame). But you also don't have to delete everything and start over. Just hit NEW from the game menu and you will keep your old project and can load it back in, and also you will have a new one running side-by-side. The save option must be one of the most requested, I7m sure, as well as swapping a build's seasons instead of starting over with a new season.

    I would argue that round buildings should have rotation control. When they are not set on the ground there is no way to change the alignment of the legs and it would be helpful to be able to rotate everything attached to a tower, rather than having to move each part separately.

    That looks great. I would be very interested in the game too. But I miss people. Everything is "dead". The few sheep don't liven up the place. In this game you only build empty houses and ghost towns. They have to be full of people and residents. Will there be such an update?

      It's been in the talks, however I don't know if and when.... The devs seem sympathetic to the idea for what it's worth. Tiny Glade currently suffers a bit from having been conceptualized as a cozy little diorama builder but then people like me came out of the woodworks and started treating it as a city builder. Hoping that this ...mismatch can be bridged better in the future. Can't make any guarantees, sadly.

      I hope the visuals also speak for themselves! Happy that I could be of help!

    As a fellow Dschörman I thoroughly appreciate your knowledge of all the appropriate vocabulary. I learned so much about English architectural terms in this video haha

    I love the tutorial, but holy shit I love ur voice, the way you speak and emphasize on certain words and that thick (I think german) accent just makes this absolute cinema, love it buddy 😍😅😂

    I commented on your first video that you would be my go-to guy for Tiny Glade. Glad to see you and your community are still finding new tips and tricks!

    This is INCREDIBLE!! 😍 Dare I ask how long it took you to build this? xD

    • @freakout3516
      @freakout3516 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      My answer if you did dare to ask would be far from certain actually! The original church that the city is constructed around took almost 4 hours. I then revised it when I was freed from the demo circle's size restrictions. I know that the city wall took between 12-15 minutes per segment (I timed it becuase it was so mind-numbing) 24 segments by my last count so that's like 5 1/2 hours at least. Rounding up we're looking at 10 hours for the church and city walls alone.... Now I know that I built the entire city up over three days of very intense play.... then I spent another 3 or 4 days total revising the castle, revising the townhall, revising some of the streets slightly, re-rolling a metric ton of videos for more clutter in the roads... It took a while. I can offer you: th-cam.com/video/oFrOx8B_HG0/w-d-xo.html ^ Timelapse. I didn't mean to make it but the game forced it on me. Recording starts after the church is already finished. But still pre-revision. th-cam.com/video/9BB9X_kpz5U/w-d-xo.html ^ Unedited church construction footage th-cam.com/video/mDk8sjqn_0A/w-d-xo.html ^ The same footage but sped up 16x th-cam.com/video/T3OJ_kuNBo8/w-d-xo.html ^ An older timelapse which does include the church's construction but doesn't include the city revisions You can try and extrapolate from that how long it might've taken lol

    Can I use my touchpad and touchscreen to play this ?

    • @freakout3516
      @freakout3516 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Aight, I had to ask somebody who knows somebody who plays this game on Steamdeck and it seems the answer is no, unfortunatey. Laptop trackpads still *mostly* work but anything fancier than that - in terms of touch controls - isn't implemented. Sorry about the wait!

    I KNEW THERE WERE BIGGER DOORS! I figured everything else out by trial and error as well as happy accidents, but the doors sizing up like windows just never worked!

    Omg all these tips and ideas are absolutely AMAZING Question for the tree pot/ railing around it: how do you keep the tree? I tried making one but as soon as I bring the “pot” onto it, the tree disappears, even if I raised it a little 😭

    • @freakout3516
      @freakout3516 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Aye, it's pot first, tree second! It should clip into the flowerpot just fine and stays stable as long as you don't wiggle the pot. Ironically the opposite way around from adding lanterns to roads. Where it's lantern first, road second.

      kek I don't remember where I say it but I'm probably referring back to the demo-era or to the playtests before that. Back in the day might be as early as July 2023 in the latter case
