    Fun fact: You can use the wall eraser on buildings. It'll turn the building into a wall but the shape stays as is so if you wanna have a perfect circle or perfect square/rectangle, you do that.

    Waste of time? I think not. Not only did I watch the entire thing, I saved it to my "watch later" playlist because I know I'll be referring back to it. I only got the game yesterday, played it off and on all day (sadly didn't have time today) so I had only figured out a fraction of what I just learned from you. So thank you! Very very helpful indeed.

    I really, really wish they gave more flower colours / designs.
    When I saw the colour button, I immediately tried to use it on the flowers. And then when my girlfriend tried the game, she did the same. Then I watched someone on TH-cam trying out the game, and they did the same😅 please let us have a wide plethora of flowers and colours 🌷🌸🌹🌺🌻🌼🪷🪻🏵️💐💠🥀

      I had a similar comment recently and the more I mull over the issue the more I agree! As evidenced by my other videos, I'm more of an....architecture guy so I generally haven't given the flower brush too much thought but thinking about using it now has me feeling like "Yeah. How *am* I supposed to use it? If I place too many flowers and everything looks same-y. So if I want to bring variety to my build by using flowers... I gotta be conservative with it so you don't notice it's all the same..."
      So ironically, the less I use the brush, the more useful it is to me. Which is like...the exact opposite of how that's supposed to work lol

    I've played so much and I STILL learned new things in this video! And I think what you highlight well is that the game is as complex as you WANT it to be, you can use the tools as simply as they first appear and still get beautiful results, or you can spend hours editing the minutest details. It's incredible, and they're adding new features already! 😍

    Great video! Thank you so much for all the lovely tips.
    Not sure if I missed you saying this, but a little helper to measure heights are the horizontal lines in the walls when you choose brick or waddle and daub. Those lines will have the same height throughout the map, regardless of terrain and can give a nice orientation. :)

    • @freakout3516
      @freakout3516  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Very true! I didn't elaborate that they're tied to "global height" - that's what Imma call it - rather than the building's height. I might just include it in a future video, thank you!

    This is probably the most comprehensive video I've seen. I think the only thing you're missing is the (relatively new?) update to walls where you can make them straight across the top vs staggered. But the sewer "door" was new to me, as were the CTRL options for terrain and windows and some of the stuff you can do with that. Thanks for putting this together!

      Hope it works out the way you want it to! Once you have the basic controls figured out, the game becomes a process of "How can I use what I have to achieve what I want" - as far as I'm concerned anyway. Hence also the segment at the end about "If you want a bridge, gotta design it yourself" Have fun, hope it also ends up being a relaxing time! :D

      @@freakout3516 Even though I'm still figuring out most things (or rather let you explain them^^), the game mechanics are fairly intuitive and it's a lot of fun just trying out all the different options. I'm sure that I'll be making at least another build of the fortress when I'm more advanced, but even for now it's good to have it as a reference for orientation.

      Is it possible to make bridges over water?

    • @freakout3516
      @freakout3516  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @BunnyBearFun9432 I would say, yes, though you will find no dedicated "bridge tool" in the game. There's some designs for bridges floating out there. I do believe diplopanda made a video on the topic. I link a different video of hers in the description if you'd like to check out her channel. I do also have a very basic bridge design included towards the end of this video.

    I would argue that round buildings should have rotation control. When they are not set on the ground there is no way to change the alignment of the legs and it would be helpful to be able to rotate everything attached to a tower, rather than having to move each part separately.

    • @freakout3516
      @freakout3516  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You'd be in good company, yeah. Nothing worse than having some window or whatever slightly misaligned and now you need to get through and shift everything other three inches so they keep their relative position to one another.

    It's worth noting that at 47.26 you deleted a balcony and the door stayed a door without reverting to what should be a window. I didn't know I could do that. No idea why I would want to. But it happened.

    • @freakout3516
      @freakout3516  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sharp eye! Yeah, that's a "bug" that became semi-official recently. Essentially the doors were *supposed* to check for their validity regularly and delete themselves if they became invalid but there were a few actions that didn't force an update so they'd stay. Recently, a secondary check for door validity was removed alltogether so nowdays floating doors are rather stable actually.
      IIRC Norman Tower Houses and other kinds of medieval castles might have doors that are off the ground where originally some sort of wooden staircase would've led up to the door but with time it would've rotted away first. Either that or during times of war the stairs could be removed to make the door inaccesible. Those might be two reasons to put a floating door on a build.

    • @freakout3516
      @freakout3516  หลายเดือนก่อน

    How do you get straight wall sections without subdivisions? Is it just a matter of having a steady hand?

    • @freakout3516
      @freakout3516  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Easiest way is to draw a short piece of wall, right-click the wall and grabbing one of the control nodes like at 15:43 and dragging that to where you need it. The game will always draw a perfectly straight wall between two nodes. Hope that helps!

    • @MandleRoss

      I saw a hint in another video to move the camera up then point in straight down, rotate into the orientation you want, start your wall, and then MOVE THE CAMERA in a straight line in the direction you want the wall to go, instead of drawing with the mouse. Instant perfectly straight wall!

    Is there a way to save the things you have built and then when u gets back in you can have a blank part with memorie of your other build

    • @freakout3516
      @freakout3516  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm sorry, I'm afraid I don't understand the whole question so I can only answer part of it.
      The game saves everything you do automatically when you open the menu! If you start a New Glade, your old one can be accessed in the menu under "Load." Generally, nothing is lost.
      The "Load" menu can be a little tricky. It scrolls to the right. So most of your saves won't be immediately visible, you'll either have to scroll with the mousewheel or drag yourself along the page with the left mouse button.
      As far as 'blank part with memorie of your other build' is concerned, I'm not 100% certain how you mean that question and I don't want to assume anything and give you an answer that isn't actually relevant to you. So I'll skip that for the time being.

    • @freakout3516
      @freakout3516  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Saves are generally automatic. Provided that you don't crash out of the game your work should be saved as soon as you open the main menu.The Load menu that appears once you have more than one save scrolls horizontally so some of your saves may be off-screen

    • @MandleRoss
      @MandleRoss หลายเดือนก่อน

      As far as I know, you can't save a project in various stages (a damn shame). But you also don't have to delete everything and start over. Just hit NEW from the game menu and you will keep your old project and can load it back in, and also you will have a new one running side-by-side.
      The save option must be one of the most requested, I7m sure, as well as swapping a build's seasons instead of starting over with a new season.
