This is some sad sensationalism. The whale is sick and dying. It will be giving off a stench into the water and the shark will be able to smell that it is dying and isn’t waiting
The shark did something unexpected ... "It freed the calf?" ... it attacked! So what you would EXPECT from a predator when they see a vulnerable animal?
neither- orcas. They're technically dolphins, which explains a lot of their behaviors. Orcas are hands-down one of the most fearsome, efficient killers among the megafauna in the ocean.
To sum up the documentary, sharks attack weak, old, lonely and dying whale inside their territory like any smaller predator would do to a bigger one. Ps it's a shark not "helen".
no such thing it is just the way of the wild. Like on Safaris they cannot intervene. i prefernthem takes seals than me lol i kinda valu my life😊 @@anthonyupton.m.b.f3572
The unexpected part is that it was a living whale, not dead. Which no one has ever caught on camera before......so that by definition makes it unexpected
Exactly what I thought, its sad to see this shark do this to the dying humpback whale and why didn't he do anything to help the whale knowing it was not moving,. they are such cold blooded humans (scientists) i know they do this to study them but why not lure the shark away to leave the whale alone to die in peace he would of probably be remembered for that
it's a long- and firmly-held belief among the scientists that it's best to let nature be nature and do what it does, rather than interfere with it. I'm sure it was very hard for them to watch that all happen, as it would be for anyone, but humans intervening wouldn't have done anything to help either animal. What would you rather, they try to shoot the whale to put it out of it's misery?
Orca watching this like they not so big and bad when we're around are they?! 😂
What?
@@ibrahimsultanov7355 look up 'Port and Starboard orcas' and you'll know what
9:39 Flying shark creates a masterpiece! Thank you Nat Geo and the cameraman! ❤❤❤

thanks for the video from BC Canada.
Me too, also from BC Canada ;)
Is this the feeling closest to nature? Thank you for sharing.
Animal fight footage from the wild is both scary and amazing
Sharks are beautiful, majestic creatures❤🎉🦈
Love this! Thank you! ❤🐳🦈🥰☀️ USA🇺🇸

🦈👀 Did you know? High-frequency sonar can disturb sharks and make them swim away! 🌊📡

Agree.
Unnecessary attempt at drama.
Incrible❤
Is anyone else weirded out by the fact that sharks understand the concept of drowning, even though they don't breathe air themselves?
nah, they've been eating mammals for far too long to not get a decent grasp on it.
It’s not much different from other animal species understanding the concept. They might not understand the how but they know the why.

@@LadybunnykillerHes asking both of those, not orcas.

Silent warriors of the ocean
So why didn’t the scientist help the baby whale 😢
Cause it's mother nature....it's the way of the water...

He tried. You can see him next to the seal trying to hide it under his coat, but a bit too late.
I don't think they are allowed to. 1 of the rules of being a nature documentarian is you film what nature does but you can't interfere with it.....
He was frightened
wait what was so unexpected about a shark trying to eat a dying whale? come on lol

Hugh has had his first ever 😳 😂 🤣 and the vehicle is not a bad idea for you

No it the orcas are the king of the ocean and wolf of the ocean
I though this is their job in the ecosystem.

I guess in this world/video, Orca don't exist??🤔🤔
I mean, National Geographic, has already done a video on Orca vs Great whites.
did you SEE an orca come to help/hinder the shark?
insert orca
Orcas are game changer the wolves of the oceans
