Your DA not prosecuting carjackers does not mean carjackings are down.
1. The Cook County State's Attorney's office is prosecuting carjackings. The large majority of cases are approved for prosecution.
2. Even if a case doesn't result in charges, the incident is counted as it is reported to Law Enforcement. If 10 carjackings occur, and 8 result in charges, 10 incidents are still reported

Why should car makers be responsible for tracking stolen cars? This is shifting the responsibility to a company that has no involvement in criminal behavior.
Right! This makes me think that electric cars may soon be promoted heavily in Chicago because tracking technology can be built into these types of cars.

I think it has to do with that car manufacturers such as dodge which has the uconnect gps on the cars doesnt help law enforcement track a stolen car even though they can actually track it in real time.
I can solve it quickly, if you are on welfare, EBT or in subsidized housing and you or your dependent commits a crime then you lose 30%, if a crime occurs again you lose 60% and for your 3rd strike you lose 100%.

Pass a nationwide law that makes it a 20 year mandatory minimum prison sentence for auto theft and how much of it do you think we would see? I'm talking about serving that entire 20 years no matter what with no chance of getting out early. There simply isn't enough of a penalty in our criminal justice system. If these criminals knew they were going to lost 20 years of their life for stealing a car I guarantee you that would eliminate over 90% of auto theft.

That'll work until stories of 12 year olds being raped and murdered in prison occurs. There's a reason we have the juvenile courts. Though there are juvie detention centers (which are at times identical to actual prisons) and there are other ways to punish them.

She taught me a lesson and told them to take me. Although I was bringing the car back she thought someone stole it while she was sleep and it was ne. But guess what? I ain’t never ever went joy riding in another car again. I didn’t think it was theft but I had no say so in making that decision and I took my consequences like I was supposed to. It’s usually the parents fault because I had absolutely no guidance and I went joy riding because I had no guidance but that set me straight tho.

From your report card at school to your criminal record after school, your choices matter. Ignoring early indicators just leads to worse behavior. ANY 12 year old stealing cars needs to face the penalty for stealing cars. WE didn't ruin that kids life, HE made an effort to do that without our input. I got away with all kinds of stuff until prison was the only choice I left them with. Every decision along the way was entirely mine. Your parents can "let it slide" but society doing that gives you more 12 year old car thieves.
