I have not done continuous line drawing before. So much fun! I'm 73 years old and promised myself to learn a new skill in 2024. I decided on watercolor, then was inspired to start a journal after watching several of your TH-cam offerings. This series is just what I needed to begin, lessening the fear of the clean, blank, page!
This was my first time trying continuous line drawing (also at 73) and I enjoyed doing it. Using a pen instead of a pencil does help to slow me down and try for better detail of the frame.
Thank you so much Danny. I'm your student from India. I am undergoing some mental health issues and clinical depression these days. And your videos really help me to move on. They are really therapeutic. Drawing feels therapeutic. Please continue this series. We are grateful for your effort. All the best.
Thank you for making this more accessible. I'm not good at drawing, and I've taken college intro-level courses, paid scads of money for online classes from "professional artists", I've tried the works. But your videos make this process NOT SCARY! You make me really believe that it's ok to make mistakes, and, more importantly, you make me believe that I can do this! Thank you so much!!
I picked up drawing again when I turned 50. (I’m 57 now)I too needed an outlet that made me HAPPY! I took art classes in middle school and high school but never felt “good enough”. I decided to teach myself to watercolor! I turned to TH-cam for help and inspiration. I found you and various other artist. I am now a more experienced artist. But this class is helping me with basic lines and perspective. Learning to do something another way. I now sketch with my watercolor paintings and I know will this class will help me improve. My hand was cramping on this exercise though!😵💫👩🏻🎨
I've always believed that people are born with the talent for drawing, and for as long as I can remember, I've tried different courses and tools but never stuck with them You promised me that one day, I'd be able to say I can draw, and that drawing is a skill you can learn like any other I hope to be the example that proves this 🙏 I've kept all my drawings from the start just to see the progress This time, I really believe I’ll stick with it because your teaching style is unique and fun I trust your method because I can already see the results 🚀
53 years here... I've almost always drawn in some form, and I even took some mail-order courses when I was a teenager (I really like comics and manga), but now I wanted to start again from scratch, learn new things, techniques, and above all, start to relax while drawing, without worrying too much about showing my drawings to others (well, I always liked to "show off", but now I'm learning to do things for myself and not so much for others), I don't know if you understand what I just wrote (my first language is Spanish), greetings from Argentina!
Hello Danny, I really enjoyed the first video and I will be using these videos throughout my Journey. I'm a 44 year old Army Vet so I can relate to starting late but in the same token its never to late to start something new. Should be fun.
Thank you so much for these lessons Danny I am 66, have always enjoyed drawing but never had confidence in my own ability. You are helping me find the confidence I need to keep on trying and showing me that I dont have to prove myself to anyone else. Thank you!
I’m so glad I rediscovered you! I taught myself to draw in my late 40’s, played, then abandoned my art in my 50’s, now that I am 60, I feel like I’m in a time of my life where I’m ready to be a student again. You are amazing! I look forward to diving into your channel and this series. ❤
This was my first time trying to draw with a continuous line-challenging and so much fun! The result possesses such character that is naturally achieved by simply completing the exercise. Feels like a drawing puzzle or maze that I’m figuring out as I go. I really like this approach! I drew when I was in elementary school but didn’t keep up with it so I feel I’m essentially starting from scratch. Your invitations and gentle encouragement in your videos have been welcomed support in my drawing journey. Thank you!
I'm 66. I did this in 6th or 9th grade art class. I had the same art teacher in both grades! We drew the person sitting across from us in one continuous line. It will be great to try this technique again. I like the car driving metaphor.
I watched many videos about continuous line techniques as i am a beginner with this but i can never get it until i crosses your video. Thankfully i successfully draw some pieces . I am so happy and this really gives me hope that i can improve in the future ❤thanks a lot ❤for someone think its easy to draw these look like easy objects, i can never draw them before. I cant believe i will Able to draw them now
Great practice. I drew my left hand with right hand and I drew my right hand with my left hand - it was so interesting to see how different the drawings came out as my right hand is my dominent hand.
I respect this man!! This is the first time I came around his videos but if he has experience of 20+ years, it takes a hell lot of genius to make mistakes unintentionally your muscle memory have overcome. The way he is teaching is fab! ❤️
After going to school for art to be so perfecting and to methodically render what I saw, I realized I didn’t have my own style. I was just copying things. I am looking to create my own expressive style and I love this video series. Thank you
I drew what you had on the screen. My scissors turned out pretty good, my pen looked like a wild child drew it and my clip was ok. I'll put it down today and then rewatch this tomorrow and do another attempt. I find when I'm learning a new skill if I put it down for a day and then come back I improve. I have a goal, I want to be able to produce my own patterns for my embroidery that are originals.
I’ve Always wanted to try drawing. I always thought that my drawings looked bad, but sometimes I impress myself, with a visual reference. Finding your channel has made me realize that it’s not as bad as it seems, that being getting into the seemingly intimidating concept of drawing. I will do your exercises whenever I find free time, and it seems both relaxing, and beneficial. Thank you for beginning this journey for me. Definitely Gonna Subscribe And Stay Tuned For Your New Videos. 👍✌️🙌
I’m loving this already, Danny! You’re a great teacher (but I already new that from “Draw w/Me” and more!😲👍🏼.) Nurturing creativity spreads goodness! I’m psyched to continue these and shall…right…NoW!
This part about continuously learning, drawing, the continuous line which is your life, it actually reminds me of the Bible, about praying without ceasing... 🤯
Mistakes can just be redrawn, right on the same page. This is seen even in drawings of masters. Many contour lines for one area can be done, like replaying a phrase on a musical instrument to get it right, without expecting to avoid all mistakes. Nice pep talks
i drew a usb stick, a mic and an iphone charging block, and I was a bit upset and wanted to draw the usb stick better, and I liked the challenge but aaagh, I was surprised my lines were as clean as they were but my competitive spirit wants to keep pushing me forward!
Thank you so much for putting these videos out it’s exactly what I’ve been looking and hoping for someone to hold my hand through the process, doing this New Year’s Eve and loving it🫶 Happy New Year to you and the Sketch Book Skool team🫶🥳
I had a question.. In many videos i see that i have to hold the pen differently (like from the back of the pen) which seems annoying to me and another step to practice is it really necessary..?
This practice of drawing the edges is a little bit challenging, should I proceed to the third video or wait until I have made a real progress redarign this practice?

I'm in the same position re watercolour and the sketch journal and the fear of the blank page. I'm 8 years younger, though.
Did all with you, but not very perfect. Will try again. Thanks 🙏
This exercise was HARD. I'm looking forward to the rest of the video exercises in this series.

Seriously enjoying this. I always envied folks that could draw ,I'm 82 not to old to learn. I need more practice with scale.
You are very positive! Thank you for your lessons!

You bet!
My favorite way to sketch! Always more interesting to the eye than perfect lines.

Able to draw them now
That was really fun. It went better than I thought it would, I drew a little pitcher that holds my paint brushes. It was an interesting result!
Great practice. I drew my left hand with right hand and I drew my right hand with my left hand - it was so interesting to see how different the drawings came out as my right hand is my dominent hand.
Thank you for doing these videos I’m really enjoying them!
Thanks so much Danny. I loved doing this, and for the first time I feel like I might actually be able to draw well too.

The more you work on each exercise, the more confident you’ll be. You can’t binge your way to drawing!
❤❤
🥰🙏😇
Thank you very much for this video, i didn't draw the exercise properly.
And it was quite relaxing
is it possible to fail this coz i think i just did
It is not.
Salaam.
Not as hard as I thought it would be.
No offense, but this is more of a beginner level than i thought
❤❤❤
