We all know what’s going on: there’s no way Colby *deserves* this title shot when he’s 3-2 in his last 5 (and vs 3 ranked outside of top 10). “He showed up to be the backup and made weight” is no excuse. This is (a) an arrangement for him dropping the charges against Masvidal so Jorge could still fight, (b) building up a possible Connor-Colby title fight for a massive PPV (in the case Colby beats Leon, and Connor beats Chandler), (c) BOTH. Damn, even MMA on Point is erasing Randy Couture. Won his first HW title, left the promotion and went 2-2. Came back and fought for the HW title in his first fight, left the promotion again and went 1-1. Fought the HW title off a loss outside the UFC won it, then two fights later loses it again. Next fight is for the vacant HW title and he loses that. So they ship him down to LHW for an immediate title fight (on a 2 fight skid) where he wins. Two fight later, he loses again but wins the immediate rematch. Then he loses it to Chuck, fights a non ranked guy and is right back in there with Chuck again for title. He loses that, retires (again) from the fight game and is brought back to HW for an immediate title fight. That's 5 title shots coming off a loss in his last fight and 17 title fights having never put together a 3 fight win streak.

Chael vs jones has to be first. Chael was ranked 8th at 185 after his second loss to silva and then gets a title shot at the #1 guy in 205. Thats crazy
Number 1 is definitely holly holm. I mean Christ this woman never failed to leave the spotlight and still hasn’t! One more win and I’m sure it’ll be nunes vs holm 2 headlining soon

@@franco30528 That means absolutely nothing. Nunes was a super dominant champion for years. Pena caught her on an off camp. Nunes came back and nearly killed her. Pena didn't defend her belt, she was just a fluke. Did Serra deserve or earn another fight with GSP? No, same rules apply here.
Juliana Peña should be one or two… she got a title shot off one win over Sara McMann, and didn’t have more than a two fight win streak since being in the UFC… yet is getting another shot
Well, Dana just said in the press conference after 287 that Trump calls him a couple times a month, and Colby and Masvidal were his favorite fighters, and then went on to say how indebted the UFC is to Trump for support in the early days.Colby is a good fighter, but he just lost twice to Usman, Leon just beat Usman twice.Colby doesn't have a single win over a top 15 ranked welter weight, every win Colby has in the last 4 years is over guys all on 2 fight losing streaks, all over the age of 36, and all out of the UFC, because of age, I think there are only 2 guys Colby has beaten that are still in the UFC.The UFC as well as other powerful people want Colby to get that belt.
Im just gonna say… I have never been so excited for somebody about to reach 1 million subscribers. You guys have changed do TH-cam. I love this @mmaonpoint
The UFC is a BUSINESS. People on Sherdog love to complain about who "deserves" the title shot (like in the case of Leon and Colby) but I think they overlook this simple fact.
From a strictly business perspective Masvidal with a win would've been a more lucrative fight than Colby Leon. That's what confused me, Dana's statements and insistence on it being Colby is what seemed weird to me. Prior to this Dana would say "I don't make fights on Saturday night" him saying that there's no shot that Jorge Gilbert affects the title shot is what surprised me. I'm assuming the UFC has a hand in mediating the Jorge Colby lawsuit and this title shot is to stop that suit. Now that Jorge lost I suppose I don't have too many issues with Colby getting this shot
People underestimate Trigg’s importance to early MMA. Obviously he’s not gonna be on anyone’s Mount Rushmore of goats, but he was a key figure in the early days, even if it was just as a gatekeeper type of guy.
Sorry, how do Masvidal and Covington have the same story? I'll admit it might not be the most convincing effort between title shots, but Colby at least maintained his status as a contender.
Colby and Jorge’s fights against Usman aren’t the same aren’t comparable… aren’t even in the same stratosphere. Colby was winning the first fight but we just ignore that right? And won at MSG to. Jorge got DOMINATED AND KOD. NOT THE SAME
I love that Dana will just bold face lie to justify shitty booking or whatever he’s being grilled on at the time. Leon’s last fight before Usman was just the year before against Diaz.
Alex pierrera had the title with less then 9 fights, he definitely was gifted a title fight, he didn’t fight Costa, he didn’t fight Whitaker, he beat strickland and jumped right to the top
On the bright side, Jorge just retired so that's at least not being repeated. As for Colby, let's see if his pillow fists are tough enough to dethrone Leon. He definitely doesn't have the same drama angle to sell in a Leon fight that Jorge did with the 3 piece and a soda.
True but their fighting style and fights are basically identical 😂 neither are boring neither are super entertaining difference being one talks other doesn't..
You can either be a fighter or an entertainer. Both doesn't go hand in hand (unless your name is justin gaethji) if you focus on entertainment perspective you will lose the fighter in you.
Why no one talks about Jorge Masvidal getting second title shot in 2021 & getting knocked out? Everyone is mad at Colby but no one said sh!t when it was Jorge.
Jorge stepped in on short notice first fight, second fight wasn't an immediate rematch and gave Jorge a full camp. Colby has already had two cracks at Usman. I don't think people have issue with his shots against Usman, those were great fights. But a third title shot after a year of inactivity? Excluding Masvidal, Colby hasn't won since 2019. Colby sells so he'll get the shot, but I totally understand the criticism.
@@l.k.9666 He definitely sells, he gets eyes. The primary demographic of casual fight fans are middle aged men, they eat him up. I think the fact the UFC are pushing him this hard is evidence of his popularity. Imagine how obnoxious he would be as a defending champ? He'd definitely pull a lot of eyes.
@@etlonjonh I can see that, but I'm personally gonna hold off on calling him a PPV draw just yet. People might click on videos involving him, but that doesn't necessarily mean they will buy PPVs for him and him alone. The fight night he had with Lawler did fairly bad. Usman v Covington 2 did pretty well, but that might be because of his interaction with Usman, not just him by himself (Usman's previous PPV with Masvidal did around the same numbers). His PPV numbers with Usman for the first fight were never revealed. His numbers for the fight night with Woodley were good. 272 against Masvidal did well. Seems fairly positive, but he's been the B side to a dominant champion in Usman and a Masvidal coasting off his popularity from a few years ago. He was arguably the A side to Lawler and Woodley, but both were former champions. Would significantly more people pay to watch Leon fight him than they would to watch Leon fight anyone else? I don't think they will.

“Leon didn’t fight for almost two years” -his fights were cancelled due to the COVID (both him Chimaev testing positive on 2 occasions), even with that he was on a 9-win streak and Usman had almost lapped the division.
I’m fine with all the politics, I’m not fine with the BS
7:14 til 7:20 😮 DIS cracka SPITTIN!!! 🔥 🔥 🔥😂😂
Goddamn that quote is so good, "if we walk in the back dressing room and Anderson says 'put on hip hop' and Chael walks in and says 'put on country', I guarantee you it's gonna be a hoe-down" 🤣🤣 bro when have you ever heard a greater quote lmao seriously
5:35 "Perhaps" the greatest fight in women's MMA history
In my best GSP voice : Are you intoxicated Tommy?
All jokes aside, i would argue it is hands down the greatest in WMMA history and one of the best in the sports' history in general!
Also titled: Tommy’s latest excuse to vent about Colby. We’ll ignore McGregor getting to put two divisions on hold and skipping the line to get Aldo, and Aldo never getting a rematch. And Gane of course. Lose one title match and immediately get another. Also, Bisping, in spite of winning.
Whataboutism. Fact is, Colby doesn't deserve another fucking title shot.
He also didn't deserve the Lw shot because he never even defended the Fw belt and Khabib was to fight Alvarez because he had 7 wins at that time.

McGregor on there he can just gets gifted title shots
The way joe Rogan says “I understand” after Derrick Lewis says his balls were hot is what gets me everytime
Well, for some reason, Nunes is fighting Pena again. Even though Pena's win was a fluke and Amanda beat the breaks off of her in the rematch. Why is Pena getting a rematch? The world may never know...
@@TheStormbringer8751 nunes vs aldana as the co main under the huge Jon jones card in July would’ve been my choice but I guess ufc sees something in this useless trilogy. Should be a clean finish on a can for Amanda yet again which I’ve always enjoyed watching anyway tbh.
@@TheStormbringer8751 because they are 1-1
@@franco30528 That means absolutely nothing. Nunes was a super dominant champion for years. Pena caught her on an off camp. Nunes came back and nearly killed her. Pena didn't defend her belt, she was just a fluke.
Did Serra deserve or earn another fight with GSP? No, same rules apply here.
@@TheStormbringer8751 Juliana Peña is ranked number 1 in her division and has a win on the dominant champ but Matt was ranked what again?!
I wonder who prompted this video to be made 😂
Whoa, wins over Dennis Hallman leading up to a fight with Matt Hughes was worthwhile; he had two first round submission wins over Matt at that time
I’ve been asking for years… how does Ant Walker get those tiny little leashes on the ants!? 🐜
Juliana Peña should be one or two… she got a title shot off one win over Sara McMann, and didn’t have more than a two fight win streak since being in the UFC… yet is getting another shot

BRO WHERE IS CAPOSAS CORNER? I NEED MY INDIE MMA FIX!
Colby's shtick was hot in 2018.
It's 2023.
He makes all the bum watchers watch him and he gets views look at the views when he was the back up compared to leon and usman
5:33 got me confused when u meant to say fight
3:30 Shoutout Kai Asakura for getting the shot

NEVER LOST A ROUND
Randy couture should of been at the top of this list that guy was given tittle shots like candy.
How can you leave out Joseph Benevdas
Very true
People got title shots for just breathing. Happy for Colby, enjoying the tears from Belal the future Bellator contender.
Colby Cocksnot right there in the thumbnail. Perfect.
How did Ken Flo not make the list? Didn't he fight 4 times for belts?
People underestimate Trigg’s importance to early MMA. Obviously he’s not gonna be on anyone’s Mount Rushmore of goats, but he was a key figure in the early days, even if it was just as a gatekeeper type of guy.
Trigg is a Bellator ref now.
10 examples of how UFC isn't a sport, it's a prize fighting entertainment business.
Let's not forget Joanna is the greatest strawweight champion of all time

They want Colby too be champ so bad 💀💀
Colby needs some extra money to pay the rent that he is still owed to masvidal.
It's definitely an interesting fight tbh
That BMF belt is so 🔥
Thank For The Video 🙊🤯🤩😁💛🌟🥇🏆
Alex pierrera had the title with less then 9 fights, he definitely was gifted a title fight, he didn’t fight Costa, he didn’t fight Whitaker, he beat strickland and jumped right to the top
Riddle: who can stay in the top 5 of their division regardless of wins or loses??
Answer: Holly Holm 😂
On the bright side, Jorge just retired so that's at least not being repeated. As for Colby, let's see if his pillow fists are tough enough to dethrone Leon. He definitely doesn't have the same drama angle to sell in a Leon fight that Jorge did with the 3 piece and a soda.
More people will tune in to watch Colby lose than to watch Belal win.
Hendo came closest to winning the belt out of all thr fighters. It was such a great night in Mamchester
Some of this should be in fights that make money
Am I the only one that thinks it looks like colby has too many teeth when he smiles?
@@etlonjonh Does Colby actually sell? People click on articles involving him, but do we have any PPV numbers where he's the A side back this up?
@@l.k.9666 Takes two to sell a fight, if Colby can do well enough as the B side then thats enough imo.
How is McGregor not on this list. He didn't deserve the LW title fight.
“There’s nothing wrong with being a virgin and a nerd”😂
MMA On Point, not sure how the “top *insert nuber“ videos are doing but you have some clearly talented people. Btw this jingle sucks, the one in “Adesanya Has Regained The Throne - What Happens Now?“ video had some energy and passion, this is “elevator music“.
