Julia Hartley Brewer lashes out at Insulate Britain

  • "How dare you compare yourselves to the suffragettes when all you do is glue yourselves to the road to get people to insulate their homes!"
    Julia Hartley Brewer has clashed with Insulate Britain's Tim Gough after nine of the group's activists jailed for breaching a court injunction compared themselves to Martin Luther King and the suffragettes.
    The supporters were jailed at the High Court in London after they admitted breaching an injunction by taking part in a blockade at junction 25 of the motorway during the morning rush hour on October 8.
    Some of the group glued themselves to each other and two glued themselves to the road, causing disruption for over an hour and a half on the busy motorway.

It cost £1800 to remove and the whole one side of the interior our house had to be taken out because the damp was so bad. I wonder how many people have suffered the same and what the collective cost to the environment would be to rectify the damage caused by home insulation.

    My home is triple glazed, fully insulated and gets the sun from 10.00 in the morning until sundown. We have the heating on most of the winter. I will be honest and say you do use the heating less with triple glazing, however, this is when it is around 10c. These people are in bumble bee land. When you hear Extinction Rebellion have cut the Umbilical cord it says it all.

  • @knight20102

    He is partially right on heating. If a building is insulated well enough it can "provide its own heat" as it won't lose very much if it is passively ventilated as opposed to actively heated (turn up the heating). However I don't like their tactics and jail shall be very useful for them and us. Some buildings are insulated by wool in their walls which is very intelligent.

    I live in Australia where summers can get to the high 40s (celius). I live in a new, well insulted (checked against regulations) home and we STILL need a heater in the winter in order to not die of hypothermia!!! I’m all for insulating houses but please don’t pretend it means people won’t need to heat their houses, or that obstructing peoples lives when they’re just coming out of/still dealing with a pandemic will save the world

  • @richardobrien8615
    @richardobrien8615 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Energy companies are paying these people. If peoples bills go down 15% the energy companies will raise prices by at least 15%. we wont save money we will pay same money for less product. Energy companies will get same profit but use less resources. A win for energy companies
