- I seem to like chaos!
In this video, I head to what may be the most chaotic railway station in the UK: London Euston. I have a look at the history of the station, it's facilities, and why I think it is chaotic. cough cough, HS2

The Last minute Platform Announcements is a UK wide problem. I've had to run across Paddington, Victoria and Kings Cross. The UK's rail infrastructure is so over capacity and cracking at the seems. The Whole network needs massive investment and overhaul
I love the way you describe places in such a comprehensive, informed, and cheeky way. I go through Euston most weeks and you perfectly summed it up! Great to learn a few things about why the new screens were introduced too...
Really enjoying your videos. The description of the fate that awaits anyone caught in the short-notice scramble for a late-announced train had me chuckling. I often use the phrase ‘you’re buggered’ and hearing it several times in a row was funny. My other half didn’t understand the phrase until we had 4 minutes to board an Avanti train and SHE looked at me and said ‘we’re buggered!’ 😂
Changed a bit since I used it in the early 80s
If you use Real Time Trains you can get the platform numbers before they get put on the board
It's like a Nuclear bunker.
You look at the screen and everyone coming off trains walks straight into you.
You gotta know how to duck and dive around the commuters haha
Absolutely agree re the stressful vibes when you enter - people going fast in various directions
Great video
I work on the railway and have to commute to Euston , it’s horrible late platform announcements, the poor staff have to deal with 700 odd people running at them on the avantis . I use a couple of websites that show booked platforms and hope they are running to schedule
I like Euston and I use the station at least 3 times a week without paying for a ticket to and from Harrow and Wealdstone with my freedom pass which if I don't have to travel anywhere I would enjoy sitting in the food court all day watching people run for their trains
As a dutch person this sounds like such a dystopian way to have trains, i can already look up where my train will stop next week (might still change but not likely)
my mum and dad needed help at KX.. they got caught up in the zombie hords ... it was nasty ... they got rescued and put into 1st class to say sorry ... .. the only folk in the carridge.. then the oven and the fridge broke on the train LOL
as someone who always uses euston, this was hilarious
I'll pray for you everytime you go through the station
I'm with you on the 'hate' of Euston (too strong a word, maybe). The thing is, there's not much else they can do about the platform situation with such high usage capacity - the railways are a victim of their own success in many ways. I used to use the London-Manchester service quite a lot in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It was a bit better then because the train would spend longer in the platform.
Ah, you probably should have mentioned the other pub - the "Doric Arch" which would have fit nicely with your description of the old station. It's outside - to the left as you're leaving the station, right by all the bus stops. You walk right past it at 01:52 in your video. Not cheap, but cheaper and better beer than the one inside, although ALWAYS crowded!
Lunwerr .. sounds very French lol 😂 Euston Station seriously needs some love putting into it
Hopefully the HS2 station is completed soon!
I like Euston, but it definitely has problems. The toilets need expanding for such a busy station (the ladies always has a queue) and better cleaning. Queues at retail outlets clog the space between concourse and platforms. And definitely, platforms being advertised uncomfortably late. You’re better off finding your platform on RealtimeTrains, beats the stampede! In my opinion, if it were stripped back to how it was when new, there’d be so much more space. It’s become too cluttered over time.
I actually forgot to mention RealTimeTrains haha. But if everyone knows about it, you lose your advantage hehe 😏
I travelled from Euston to Stoke on Trent just 8 days ago and oh boy...what the actual fuck...it felt like a fucking Mumbai or a third world country....no order, millions of people, you could wait 10 minutes just to get a free stall to take a shit...
I swear I've never been at a worse station in my life and I have seen a lot 😅
