Way back when I started growing in the 90s, I bought the biggest LFH that FUNGI PERFECTO sold as well as the biggest ALL AMERICAN STEREOCLAVE as well....the LFH cost me $1400 after shipping and the STEREOCLAVE cost about the same price. Both are still working great. The stereoclave has its own heat element built in and I can cook 12 bags at a time. What FLOWRATS is doing is disruptive and revolutionary, I LOVE IT! Looking at the filters on these make me think these are not so great. They are way too thin, and the fans look cheap as well. The only model I see that looks half way decent is like $800 without shipping, and even that only has a like a 1 1/2" thick hepa filter. You could make a much better machine for that kind of money. The only reason the cheap ones seem so affordable, is because they are made out of super cheap parts. If you have any carpentry skills you could build the same thing for less than $100 easily.

DO NOT DO ☝️THIS👆!!! that is a very old tek for inoculating pf jars, it used to be spread by MidwestGrowKits… was not the best info even back then. & here is why…
Even though the air rising from a hot oven is itself sterile, it is not flowing in a LAMINAR fashion. It is VERY turbulent air. So as it rises it also swirls & brings lots of contams into the air stream which falls ALL OVER your work.
…IT DIDNT EVEN WORK WELL FOR NOCING UP PF JARS. …DO NOT EVER ATTEMPT ANY OTHER CLEAN WORK IN THIS WAY….
I honestly say you are better off doing clean work right out in open air, in a very small CLEAN room, with ac ducts, under doors, & windows plugged with towels.. spray room down w/ your preferred air sanitizer, then let air settle as STILL as possible, ..begin work using your best sterile tek practices…
In my experience this will yield only 10-20% of tams as the oven thing does…
…or better yet.., spend 10-15 bucks and a few minutes to make a STILL AIR BOX!! Will cut that number of contams down to almost nothing if done correctly…
…. and keep up the good work, Willy!!
      ….Love ya man!!!!
      Peace & Love, , O.G.rabbi-man

I'll thank the OP, I was going to make one out of a 24x24 filter too, but didn't think about a leaf blower... i was looking at some fams for like 80-120, I could get an old used one for next to nothing and do it. What was the depth of the box between the filter and the back of the box? Did you put the leaf blower ontop or on the back?
Also, did you wire in anything to make it adjustable? If you get too much it becomes turbulent, not enough then same thing. I'd hate to go through all the trouble just to find out it's putting out too much air... did you build a cover for the filter that could double as a work bench? Since anything you work with needs to be 3inch up above the bottom of the filter to get laminar flow you need a cookie rack or something anyway, a cover like that would be nice and i feel like that could work well.

I'm calling this product out for a laminar flow test. I'm sure other mycologist would love a run at this gimmick. Sorry Willy You mean well but this seems like false adverting to me.
Nothing personal just don't like good people being scammed for hard earned cash.
Veteran mycologist would def have the same outlook.
ANYONE could do the same with a plastic tote, CHEAP FILTER, and a PC fan well under $350.
I've seen sooo many creations right down to air purifiers connected to a SAB and they all are not the same as a true laminar flow hood/cabinet. You might be lucky and already have a clean environment to work in but this isn't up to par.

We will be the first ones to admit that the smaller units do not provide perfect laminar flow but they do provide sufficient flow for mycological work. I personally worked with the Model S for over 6 months in various environments. My success rates were very high. We began our mushroom farm with that model and I was working out of a 20' shipping container in the middle of a field. The Nomad is the only unit made with an axial fan and we have ran numerous tests with it and it has passed all of them. It's best use would be for swabs, prints and agar work.
And, yes these units can be built for cheaper but not everyone has the tools, the knowledge or the time to build these for themselves. Our profit percentage is incredibly low. There are FFU re-sellers out their making more profit than us and they don't even have to do any building. We are here for the community. Not the money. We will gladly walk someone through how to build a unit for themselves.
We offer larger units made with higher quality filters that will get you laminar flow. We also offer custom builds if you have a filter in mind. Our only aim is to help this community and help people find affordable alternatives to still air boxes/expensive lab grade equipment. Too many people just throw money at things and never truly understand what they are doing. You couldn't do bags in front of any of these. even my 18x24 will be a small work space, but it's a start. I need help lowering the humidity in the clean room I’ve been tasked with maintaining while my roommate who is usually responsible for maintaining is out of town. The humidity is up to 95 and there is pooling everywhere. I’m using an inkbird 608-T humidifier controller.

Hey Willy what's up. I love your content and been a follower of your channel. I'm super interested on a FH. But I'm from Mexico. FH are practically non existent here, and materials to buy one are hard to get. Is there any option you know that can ship down here?
I sent an email to lab rat to see if they ship here. I need one so bad.

Hey Willy, is there a way for me to submit something to you that you may want to use for content? I've built a "Flow Box" using a 44qt monotub, intake PC fan on top pulling air in through a MERV13 air filter. It pushes air into the box and out through the hand holes. Got pics and instructions to build . I think it'd really be a low cost option for growers.

It's literally the same price as an actual flow hood from myco stores and made from budget materials. Avoid this, save and get an actual proper big one when you're ready. Stick to SAB until then and it works.
