    Had my Kubota BX2380 for 3 years 350 hrs. No issues at all. A real work horse. One accessory everyone should have on your tractor cost less than $20 a steering wheel spinner knob.

      A suicide knob? That's what I think you are referring too!The "Steering Wheel Spinner Knob" was invented by Joel R. Thorp of Wisconsin in 1936. The Brodie name is a reference to Steve Brodie and was meant to describe all manner of reckless stunts. The device is often called a "suicide knob" because of being notoriously useless for controlling the wheel during an emergency.Feb 24, 2021

    I have the same tractor and love it. I had one warranty issue that was looked after by my dealer, the rear PTO seal started leaking after using the brush hog, replaced and oil topped up by the dealer and no further issues. I did have to tighten the throttle bolt and nut, i wasn't staying up at RPM, easy job after watching a youtube video. And lastly, the removal of the oil and hydraulic filters proved to be challenging, I'm not sure who tightened them at the factory but way to tight.

    Great video. We've had our kubota for about a year now with no problems at all. Prior to that I had a cheaper re-badged tractor from a large manufacturer. The last year I had it, only was able to put about 15 hours on it due to breakdowns and parts availability. So, really happy with the kubota.

    A well done video…
    You mention using a pressure washer to wash your machine. I used an electric PW on my new to me but dirty l4060, I quickly found that it wanted to strip all of the stickers off.
    Then I found the Messick’s video that strongly suggested not using a PW.
    Now I just wash it like I would my car. We have 40psi out of our hose plenty for rinsing off, hot soapy water to wash and then rinse.
    My l4060 has never been back to the dealer, 0 problems since it was originally bought by my neighbor, who used it commercially for 1065hrs.
    Though when I got it, it was dirty, and the grease joints were dripping huge globs of grease.
    From lack of use the joy stick lock was stuck in the free position as well as you’d never have been able to tell that the steering column has a spring to pull it out of the way when you push the pedal.
    So mostly it was well maintained and came with a complete extra set of filters.

    I plan on keeping right BX for a long time I push snow in the winter time if we have any the salt from the roadway, ate the floor pan up on my tractor, not a big deal was only 100 bucks to replace but after that, I took my body off from the floor peeing over top of my rear wheels and I took it to my local Line X dealer and had my tractor light mixed. It’ll never rust. It’ll last longer than our bodies will also on my tractor I had a problem with the bonnet on the front of my tractor it kept breaking off, made it was made of cheap plastic, so I also heard that Line X. And guess what I haven’t had a problem cents just thought you’d like to know.

    Hey Lucas, just like expensive vehicles, no matter how much we pay or want them to be perfect, they are machines and things happen to machines over time and as you use them. I finally got around to reviewing my L3901 and that video will drop Monday....lots to like about the L series, but also some things the engineers do that make you scratch your head!! Do you think the R14 tires are better for puncture resistance than R4s or are you just looking to try something new? R14s do look pretty cool though!! I've got a R4 front tire in the bed of my pickup now....picked up a nail. Always something!!

    • @PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead
      @PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have my doubts on the R14 being better for puncture resistance, but I’ve been hearing folks say the traction is a little better without sacrificing damage to the lawn. I saw someone suggest running 50psi in the tires to stiffen the sidewall. I haven’t had the nerve to do it though.
      Looking forward to checking out your video. I’m sure that L3901 is a sweet machine. That’s a real tractor there!

    A little over 200 hours on my BX23. I’ve had 2 front tire side cuts, (my fault). Similar backhoe control arm issue, (treaded rod broke at rod end). The tie rod end for the FEL control has broken twice. The throttle arm broke where the nut attaches to the cable. I like the tractor, but simple upgrades to very basic and often used hardware is in order.

    You know I checked out the JD & the Kubota but instead bought a TYM T265 because it was the only one that had all the optional extras standard & what really broke the deal was JD & Kubota both dropped the Vital Turning Brakes which I really need on hilly blocks. I've had it a couple of months now & am very happy with it. The TYM has much more capability than the other 2. Our old Kubota is in retirement now.

    • @PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead
      @PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CH67guy1 The biggest skill I learned as a timesaver was how to safely move the machine along the digging path without flipping the seat around and driving forward. A neighbor showed me to leave the machine in neutral without setting the brake and use your outriggers and bucket to hold the machine in place. When you need to move, stab your backhoe in about halfway out and then raise the outriggers just above the ground and lift the bucket. Use the backhoe to ease yourself along. This takes some practice and it could get away from you especially on a hill. I would get good and comfortable with the machine and then practice on level ground, but once you get the hang of that, it will save you loads of time. 👍

    I have about 350 hours on my Bx23S, use it like a tractor should be used and I love it. I am starting to get a bit concerned though. I have a rear mount blower that has used up about 1/3 of those hours, a mower deck only used a few times, a bush hog, twice and a post hole auger maybe 20 holes both over a year ago. Added a hitch mount power winch on the front, so yes I use it for a variety of tasks. First time I removed the loader the quick couplers leaked after I put it back on…. Full warranty replacement. A branch jammed into the fan shroud underneath so added a guard. The safety switch under the seat has been annoying, same issue as this guy with the front tires, now run turf tires in the summer and R4s w chains winter. This winter second heavy snowfall noticed a puddle under the tractor… hydraulic fluid… took it into the dealer and the entire PTO gear box was shot. $7K to fix it and no explanation from the dealer why it happened or how to prevent it from happening again. They suggested a seized PTO drive shaft or a non kubota snowblower (forgetting that they sold the blower with the tractor). The dealer is very good, a bit farming oriented, but good. They apologized that there was no kit or easy fix for the PTO, case was cracked and the entire drive train replaced. I will be afraid to use my snowblower next winter or any other PTO driven implement. YIKES!

    Given what you have done with your BX and the issues you have discussed here, I shouldn't have any problems with mine other than caused by myself LOL. I've done some stuff on mine that caused some minor issues, easy fixes though, luckily as my dealer doesn't seem all that interested in anything once they got their money.
    A lot of initial things that made me question my purchase though. Every nut and bolt on the machine seemed loose upon delivery, lug nuts included. Had a hydraulic leak on day 1, luckily I had pulled the tractor up on my concrete carport to checkout the loader removal feature so I found the leak on a hard line off the left side of the transaxle, tightened that up and added some fluid and haven't had another issue. I do have mysteriously disappearing coolant however, which is quite concerning as there's no external leaks, but the overflow bottle will get low after a month or so and I have to top it off again to bring the level back to about mid way between full and add. Engine seems fine, haven't had to add oil, fuel system seems fine but I started using a fuel additive on day 1 to prevent any problems in the first place. They're so busy they aren't doing very good at assembly and inspection at the dealership it seems.
    My tractor has spent most the winter hibernating in the shop, I go out once in a while when I remember to and start it up and let it run for a while, but don't really use it in the winter for anything. Right now I have 32 hours on it, so the initial fluid/filter change is coming up soon. I'll be changing the oil/filter, fuel filters, and the hydraulic fluid/filters as well and switch over to the UDT-2 hydraulic fluid while I'm at it....and of course clean out the screen filter in the hydraulic system when I find where its located LOL.

    • @PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead
      @PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wow, sounds like they needed to take it a little slower at the dealership on their inspection. I would say now that you have things tightened up, you will be good. I have not added coolant to mine before, but it was down below the low mark in the overflow tank this time when I went to flush it. I am not sure why. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I have a video on the hydraulic fluid change and screen cleaning. If you have trouble figuring anything out, you might watch that one…

    Great video sir. I bought the first 2017 BX23s that came into our dealership. I`ve had only one issue with mine... the joystick for the frontend loader got all loose and floppy. Couple of the functions wouldn`t work because the joint connections had loosened up to the point that it quit working. Same problem you had with your backhoe joints, loose. My fix was the same as yours. Blue loc-tite, problem solved ever since. I loc-tited the other one while i was in there, too. If you have to get down in there to re-tighten the joystick for the loader, its rough getting that black plastic cover off. Couple of the bolts for the cover are hidden real good, just a heads up. As for any other issues with mine, nothing. It has been such a great tractor for me. If i had it to do over again, i wouldn`t hesitate buying a BX23s. I dont need anything bigger than the BX. Its VERY handy around my home. It can go places the bigger tractors won`t go. One really good upgrade i did on mine was getting rid of that tiny fuel filter under the rear of the tractor. I installed an auxiliary cartridge fuel filter assembly from a Kubota L series tractor. I mounted it just ahead of the FEL frame just in front of the floor board. Its really nice to be able to change the fuel filter without crawling under the tractor. Here is a friend of mines video of the AUX fuel filter assembly th-cam.com/video/rkYoT5YOq8U/w-d-xo.html This fuel filter MOD is an awesome upgrade. He installed his in the exact same location i did with mine.

      I have heard a lot of people replacing that stupid fuel filter under the tractor with an L-series filter and mounting it up by the engine next to the loader mount...I'm seriously considering that, and if the dealer wants to push the issue I'll simply tell them that's how it should have been from the factor instead of that dollar store pile of crap filter under the tractor body in a terrible location...there's really no need for that type of filter on a machine of this size and cost. Pretty sure it might be about the same filter that's on my lawn tractor...seriously Kubota a $5 filter on a $20k+ tractor...horrible thought/engineering or lack of both went into the filter selection and locations....the L-Series filter assembly makes replacement and cleaning easy, and definitely worth the swap. I for one hate crawling around under equipment LOL.

      I actually saw that front axle video just a few days ago and subscribed to Hillside then. I fortunately was one of the lucky ones. Mine was full. However, I did drain mine a while back and refill it with gear oil instead of the UDT2. I just felt like it should have thicker lube. 🤷🏼‍♂️ So I’ve been hearing about the subscriber purge and I keep expecting to wake up and find that I’ve lost a bunch of subscribers, but so far so good. The front axle oil was low on mine as well...and I have conflicting information as to what oil is supposed to go in it...some say hydraulic fluid, others say gear oil. What's in it now seems like it would be hydraulic oil as its too thin to be gear oil, so I added enough hydraulic fluid to bring the level up to where its supposed to be.

      I saw a pop up of a video by Luc from "Orange Is My New Green" Friday night. He usually posts a video every Friday morning. I have a B series Kubota and have the same problem with the torn boot. From what I understand it is very common on these tractors. I tried to get a replacement, but Kubota doesn't sell just the boot. They wanted me to buy the whole rod assembly. If you find a good source for an aftermarket replacement let me know. I would like to replace that before the Joint wears out. But I absolutely love my Kubota!

    Have had a BX25D since 2012 4700 and some change hours on it. 2023 it is time for a new transmission and a engine rebuild. Have had a BX22 since 2002 and it just keeps going no idea about hours on it now days. The New M5660 I bought July 2022 the tractor is great but the loader was defective one arm 2" smaller all the way around 3rd day I owned it the tilting the bucket up and down was putting the quick connect in a bind and bent the quick connect and the bucket fell of while mowing a pasture off. Dealership came took the loader off took it, the bucket and filed a warranty claim, which Kubota denied, so I bought that Orange protetion insurance plan and had to use it. The insurance bought the new loader with no problems. Kubota claims I hit something and bent the arm but the arm is 2" shorter on every straight line measurement neither here or there at this point. Toward the End of February and I am still waiting for my New Loader to arrive and all I get from Kubota is sometime between next week and 12 months from next week. VERY ANNOYING when you drop $60,000 on a new tractor/Backhoe/Several Quick Connect attachments and have to use you 46 year old ragged out Massey for any substantial bucket work. If you looked at the fb page I built that big pond dam and little pond dam with the M5660 and a $1000 King Kutter Box Blade lat summer. Put 780 hard hours pulling heavy boxes of clay on the tractor from July through October . Can't complain even a little bit about the tractor or its performance. The loader part of it though makes me see Red NOT ORANGE :) The BXs are little war horses. I somehow manage to puncture and cut the front tire sidewalls on a regular basis :) I started buying the much cheaper aftermarket tires and rims in pairs on amazon for less than what just the Kubota tires cost. And I find their bar tires get better traction than the official kubota tires do. My only real complaint about the BXs is the brush I go through constantly pops the blinker cover off and sometimes I find them and sometimes I don't. So started putting a zip ties around each set and have not lost one since. Kubota has not given me a reason in over 20 years to say anything bad about the tractors and Landpride generally the same high opinion with. That loader on the new tractor and Kubota not taking ownership of the defective arm....... That I can not say enough bad things about :)

      That is a real shame to hear that on such an expensive piece of equipment. I’m amazed to hear you are over 4K hrs on the old BX. That is pretty impressive.
