I really think you’re right! I was visiting a friend and admitted to her that I’d been struggling with my anxiety. Later I’d noticed her cat was rubbing up against me a lot more than usual. She’s always friendly, but after initial greetings she typically would go nap, but she was all over me this time!
I was terrified of cats (for no real reason) for years until last year when I bonded with a stray cat that passes through my backyard often. I was in my backyard last year doing an errand, the cat was there but I was brave and did what I had to. Suddenly, this bat started flying around and I was clearly so afraid and dodging its direction. The cat noticed this and was following the bat's movements. I just felt so connected to the cat in that moment, like the cat was annoyed at the bat for freaking me out. I felt so comfortable with cats ever since. Also, about a month later, I was sunbathing in my backyard and that same cat wandered into my backyard and sat in the sunlight not too far away from me. I felt like it was protecting me because it remembered the whole bat ordeal 😂 also I felt like the cat was saying it liked me in general and I felt so privileged that it chose to chill with me. Lol.
I love the fact that their names fit their *warm* friendship perfectly, as temperature is measured in Kelvins and heat, just like all energy is measured in Joules.
I miss my cat Jack. When I was very young my parents separated and I was very depressed. Before this he wasn’t affectionate, but after my dad left, I’d have a spot by the stairs where I’d sulk and cry in private and he’d be there every time, every day for me, curling up and snuggling next to me. He was so intelligent and loving. The best pet I ever had. Cats are amazing animals.

Yet cat people always try to bring down dogs who are truly affectionate by labelling them as "clingy or needy". Cat people complain about cats being misunderstood, but they actively misunderstand dogs who are so affectionate and so loyal. I love both dogs and cats regardless, but cat people dont love dogs

Never have I met a dog person who likes cats but I have seen so many cat people who like and take care of dogs. Most of the stigma also comes from dog lovers calling cats bitchy and not affectionate. There is nothing wrong with not being as affectionate as much as there is nothing wrong with being clingy or needy. You yourself seem to think those terms are hurtful for the dog

And, if you wouldn't be so openly dismissive of "cats people" you would see that people that have cats love a lot of other animals too. Cats are capable of emphaty, but are more selective - if they feel your reserve or dislike, be sure they would not go near you ...only maybe the desperate ones that are hungry, ill or just feeling lonely. I didn't know, before I took home stray cats that they can be social beings, but they are. It all depends how you treat them, thats all. I don't have dogs, but I know people that have and to me they are like children, so totally dependent affectively from their human person. The only difference between dogs and cats is the way they express their support. When you are crying, a dog usually jumps all over you like it's telling, "Stop crying, I'm here now!". A cat usually curls up beside you providing constant motor-sounding warmth, like it's telling, "I'm here for all your tough times" 🥰
I just fart on people when they cry. The smell usually makes them go to the other room and think about what they did wrong to deserve my love. They did nothing wrong..they did nothing wrong.
My cat Romeo is an absolute cuddle bug. He sleeps in my lap for hours until I can't feel my legs. He also insists I hug him and carry him around. Cats are the best anti-anxiety med.
If I cry, my cat jumps up on my lap and wipes my tears with his paws. Then he kneads my chest and falls asleep on my belly facing me. Cats are creatures of superior intellect and are more than capable of compassion. Trust me, he knows what's he's doing.
Whenever I would cry my cat would wipe my tears with her paw too. Then she would lay on top of me and cuddle me and do biscuits. She was always so comforting to me when I needed her. She passed in 2017 and I will never get over her. Today is her birthday she would’ve been 18 years old. 🙏🏼♥️😿

He was so sweet and loving and I often look at his empty food bowl and collar and just cry. My current cat, Cosmo is pretty depressed now too. My mother would always babysit my cat when I would go on vacation which was several times a year. One day she asked me if she could keep my cat! She told me he comforted her every day and he soothed her soul. Now mind you my mom had given me this cat as a kitten to soothe me when I was going thru a very challenging and painful time in my life. Mr Charlie who has since passed after 18yrs knew what we both needed.

Animals definitely know when disaster is about to strike. Before that tsunami hit several years ago they showed animals fleeing to higher ground ahead of humans. They can sense things better than we can.
When one of my cats was suffering from kidney failure he would sleep by the heat register on a blanket because he was always cold - the younger cat seemed to know he was sick and would cuddle up next to him to keep him warm! She never slept with him before he was sick either - so endearing!

I used to get very bad migraines, and one time after a very bad headache day at work I was on my bed in a fetal position softly moaning from the pain I was feeling. And my cat, Abby, came over from her usual spot on top of some cardboard boxes near the bed. And she started licking my face. She knew I was in pain, and she was doing all she could to make me feel better. I was amazed. Until that day, I hadn’t known that a cat would do such a thing.

It's always better to have 2 pets and impreferably 2 of each species. this cat-and-dog seemed to get along just fine and they keep each other company when the humans are gone. Animals get lonely. They need another animal companion. This is so sweet. So glad you thought to get another animal to help your dog.
When I was a kid we had a cat that would always sleep next to me through the night. When I got sick he would not leave my side. He would only go out to dig and bury and then be right back. He would only snack throughout the day so that he wasn't away from me for too long. Pets can definitely tell when something isn't right and some will try to comfort you.
They do, they also definitely know the difference between good and evil, even if some people deny it. They know when they have done something "bad". As a kid I would constantly play with my cat, and since I was a child (7-8), I wasn't always gentle. Also I found funny seing my cat trying to bite me, so I kept pushing my luck. But even after being me who was pissing off my cat, whenever she hurt me and she saw that he had indeed do so, she would stop being angry, meow and then start licking my wound as a way of saying sorry. Cats are way more loving animals than a lot of people think if you treat them like they deserve.

The cat knows the dog is anxious. This makes the cat anxious. The cat doesn't want to be anxious, so he seeks comfort from the dog and comforts the dog so the dog isn't anxious so he isn't anxious. Plus there is genuine affection there too ofc
This only shows when there is enough food for them they don't need to fight. They mostly fight for survival when they are looked after they are happy and contended and are happy to extend the love they get. So thanks to you people 💕❤🌹🙏

My sister's cat saw me crying in pain and sat next to me, then tapped my leg with her paw several times as if to ask if I was okay.

I used to get very bad migraines, and one time after a very bad headache day at work I was on my bed in a fetal position softly moaning from the pain I was feeling. And my cat, Abby, came over from her usual spot on top of some cardboard boxes near the bed. And she started licking my face. She knew I was in pain, and she was doing all she could to make me feel better. I was amazed. Until that day, I hadn’t known that a cat would do such a thing.

It's always better to have 2 pets and impreferably 2 of each species. this cat-and-dog seemed to get along just fine and they keep each other company when the humans are gone. Animals get lonely. They need another animal companion. This is so sweet. So glad you thought to get another animal to help your dog.

When I was a kid we had a cat that would always sleep next to me through the night. When I got sick he would not leave my side. He would only go out to dig and bury and then be right back. He would only snack throughout the day so that he wasn't away from me for too long. Pets can definitely tell when something isn't right and some will try to comfort you.
They do, they also definitely know the difference between good and evil, even if some people deny it. They know when they have done something "bad". As a kid I would constantly play with my cat, and since I was a child (7-8), I wasn't always gentle. Also I found funny seing my cat trying to bite me, so I kept pushing my luck. But even after being me who was pissing off my cat, whenever she hurt me and she saw that he had indeed do so, she would stop being angry, meow and then start licking my wound as a way of saying sorry. Cats are way more loving animals than a lot of people think if you treat them like they deserve.

The cat knows the dog is anxious. This makes the cat anxious. The cat doesn't want to be anxious, so he seeks comfort from the dog and comforts the dog so the dog isn't anxious so he isn't anxious. Plus there is genuine affection there too ofc
