That's a very good idea, but it can't be a regular compass, which isn't made for hard work. When scrapping the cut we must exert a good amount of force and the tool must not shiver, tremble or quiver.

What if you just put a sharp piece of metal in a drawing compass so you can adjust in on the fly?
