In this video I show that applying phosphates tests as they are is all one needs to make critical decisions in an aquarium, without the need to dilute the samples to get exact phosphate values.

    Hello, and thank you for your excellent advice, I have my mother’s collection of French stamps from the 50s, many absolutely beautiful images. Some are bunched together, 20 stamps or so. If I soak them in water, I am afraid of hurting the ink stamp from the post office. Is it safe to do this?

    • @TheWorld_2099

      Can I safely soak this bunch of stamps in the water without damaging the original postal marking?

    • @RODsDIY
      @RODsDIY 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi, in most cases it is perfectly safe regarding the ink, but the glue on most stamps should dissolve. I'm not familiar with all stamp printing processes, so I cant guarantee all stamps can go through this process. In my experience I have not seen any fading in colour or loss of ink, and some of the stamps are pretty old (XIX century). The brownish water you see in some images is due to rust from the album.

    • @TheWorld_2099
      @TheWorld_2099 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@RODsDIY to be clear, I’m not asking about the stamp, I’m asking about the postal service cancellation mark they use so we can’t reuse a stamp. I’m hoping the black ink won’t bleed and affect the quality of the stamps.

    For the thicker pieces, using a wood/steel guide like yourself, I gently use a flat, fine tooth (42tpi) Japanese draw blade saw. • @RODsDIY
      @RODsDIY 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I'm not sure what you mean. Two nuts are used for tightening the rod inside the drop in anchor. The rod is used to hang something, like a steel bar or angle, which usually only needs one nut under it, although sometimes one might prefer a nut over the bar and another one under the bar so there is no movement.

    • @RODsDIY

      @@yasirmahmod6832 The 2" long thread and the upside-down toadstool type nut I use to hammer in the anchor do not open the feet of the anchor. This bit of thread and nut are used only to push in the anchor when the hole is too tight. Ideally the anchor should go in easier than in the video. After I get the anchor well in, and remove the bit of thread, then I open the feet of the anchor hammering with the setting tool. At that point the anchor is set and it's inner thread is empty, ready to screw in a thread (in this case a long piece of thread).

    the wood absorbed water from cement and expanded, the result being that it wedged itself into the cement, thereby making it impossible to pull the mold out cleanly, this was further complicated by the fact that its a complicated piece with lots of irregular curves

      Doraemon, if you have tried all the things I have suggested here, in this video, and nothing works, I believe your only option is taking it to a technician who can take the lens apart or examine the hardware/software.

    I was thinking about printing new characters on sticky back labels, and cutting them out, but inkjet will smear the first time you touch it. I just tried with printout from a laserjet printer, and it smudged even with dry fingers. I wonder if there is a protective spray? I guess you could laminate and cut out, and you'd only need use ordinary printer paper that way. My project is not for regular typing, but to set up a second keyboard for shortcuts and macros using a Logitech gaming keyboard and G-Hub, so it would not get heavy use.

      Any ink based writing ends up smudged very quickly. Laminating means a thicker surface so you get different levels if you only fix a few letters. There is a transparent lacquer and varnish you can use which aren't too thick but I don't know how long they will last.

    The top rated Logitech K120 wired keyboard costs $16 - seems like a cheaper fix than all of that engraving, painting and sanding, plus you get a brand new item that will outlast the old one 😎

      $16 is not cheap in my budget, and even if I were more expensive, the value of making things last so we don't drown in electronic waste is worth 10 times that. On the other hand, I reject manufacturers that promote wastefulness. We must be more responsible with the future of our kids and their kids.

    Good video, and my letters are starting to wear off. Makes no sense to throw away a perfectly good working keyboard, then buy another one for the same to happen again. I'm going to cut small square pieces of tape and cover them all. The manufacturers must know this and could make transparent plastic covers over each letter, but their in the business of selling keyboards. Should be outlawed, as these plastic keyboards will end up in the junk pile. Not good.

      Yeah, we are living in times of unrestrained consumerism and drowning in our own waste, and manufacturers are the drvers. PCs that must be renewed in less than 5 years because Microsoft diches support, should be a worldwide topic. Are all those new apps and options really necessary, or just an excuse to make us spend our money?

      @@RODsDIY Just found out you can buy replaceable letter stickers for only about $ 5 to $ 10.00 -- It has all the letters and symbols. I'll do that instead.

      @@grantp4022 That's not very expensive, but I've heard they don't last long. However, I have not used them so cant back that assertion.
