Absolutely amazing how this old girl performs. It didn't have any trouble on your new carpet what has defeated many new vacuums. I also noticed that on the first pass it did very well. Many vacuums has left a lot of dirt behind on the first pass. This Electrolux did extremely well.
I almost took a run at that viking and now I regret not going for it especially since it was here in the states. I imported a 550 some months ago and love it so I can’t wait to get my hands on another Electrolux 500 series vacuum soon.
Serviced a few of these whilst serving in the RAF. They and similar models were used in the married quarters during the 80's and early nineties. I must admit to being a geek with vacuum cleaners, currently own 4. Not yet found the perfect model. All have plus and minus points. Keep up the good work.
The 506 was the predecessor to the 560, which I believe came along in 1983. Yours has the serial number 2 01 which is 1982 Week 1. Its in really nice condition and the bumper guard is not cracked like most of them go. Beautiful machine for its age of almost 40 years old.
I bought one of these on EBay this week. Looked as though it was in very good condition. I paid for it, was going to make the 90 minute journey the following day to collect it. The seller changed her mind about collection times and was very inflexible about dates. Eventually arranged a firm date. I told her that I wanted to see it working before I took it away. She refused - stating she “didn’t have the facilities” for that. Naturally I cancelled the sale…..
I think it may have been a 560 you bought if it’s the one I think it is. The 506 is identical though. I believe Electrolux changed the number of it when they launched the more basic 550. There is a 560 on eBay now for collection only. If it’s the seller that messed you around then obviously I wouldn’t bid on it again.
@@ibaisaic Yes, I got my numbers the wrong way round.... this one was for collection only too. It is the same seller. I see the negative feedback (which was quite warranted) was removed.....!! But who in their right mind would take an item away without it being seen working first... I wanted this one because my cordless Bosch that lasted years finally gave up the ghost (the handle snapped!!) and I am fed up with dragging the cylinder out of the cupboard every time I want to clean the carpets
Surely it would always be on "boost" I know there are settings for a reason, but look at all those settings on a washing machine and we all probably only use 2.
Love that neon light on the handle. How does that super suction switch work? When you opened up to replace the belt, it does not look like its connected. Thanks for another great video.

The slide control on the head is just a valve that opens and closes to alter the suction.
