I was listening to this with my dad in the car who is a marine. He said to me with tears in his eyes "the cost of freedom". I could tell that it was an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for men like this, that serve this country, to do a job many men would run away from. Thank you for this inspiring podcast.
Let me tell you, we have some tough son of a guns in the military that no one talks about. I'm thankful for Jocko podcast. Nice to know that people like them are protecting our country!
Rob Jones....get some. You sir, are a hero and a badass. You deserved to be on the Podcast. Thank you for being humble and real. And...Pam Jones, thank you for helping Rob be the person he is today.
Jocko, another outstanding interview with an amazing man. Thank you for bringing Jones on the air to hear his story. I'm stunned and in awe. My life is now better for this.
This is one of my favourite episodes. All my life I wanted to be a combat engineer and do this job exactly for this reason. I hate IED'S with a passion and figured it would be the best way to protect my mates...
Wow, every time I listen to a podcast I think man, this is the best one. But then I listen to the next one and I am blown away again. So inspirational and what a charming guest. Thank you ❤️❤️❤️.
just worked 13.5 hours and thinking about how shitty tomorrow's 14 hours is going to be than I see this new podcast and KA-POW at least 3 hours won't be shit thanks Jocko and Echo
I'm working right now, similar hours, and I feel like shit. These guys will staple their own heads back on to keep going, so I think I can make it thru.
Rob said it perfectly. Jocko has Heros on the podcast. I am sure it is humbling to be on the podcast, it is humbling to hear what these heros have to say. People, especially some of the young men should hear these stories of heroism.
That was such a great interview. Every time Rob Jones talks I smile. I love his spirit, positive energy and never quit attitude. Jocko did a great interview and brought out the great quotes and stories.
Love this type of content ... Can’t even IMAGINE going through what he went through ... Losing your legs seems like a nightmare to me, IS a nightmare ... Yet he’s living, smiling, & showing that life isn’t over even if you go through a situation like that. Thank you for your service Rob, God bless you & the USA 🇺🇸🙏
To add to my comment ... I didn’t know of this man, I knew of Jocko & started binging his Podcast ... Clicked on this & when I found out Rob was this Hardened Veteran I automatically felt a sense of admiration for the man ... then I got to the point where they talk about what happened to him during his deployment ... & I was left speechless , Looked him up & all that of course .. I’m in a whole new mindset & have a very different perspective on many things after watching this ... We take walking with our own two legs for granted everyday, or at least I did .... Not anymore, I took living in this beautiful country where we’re FREE for granted as well ... Not anymore. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
This podcast should be played in every high school across USA to show teenagers what is real struggle, so they won't become adult snowflakes offended by everything, and complaining about every minor problem, life hits hard, but if you resist the blow you can counter attack HARDER
Once more, I am floored, counseled, and inspired by your guest. Thank you. I swear I just told three more strangers about jockopodcast today at Rolling Thunder 2019--where Rob Jones was guest speaker at the send-off :-).
My CO deployed alone (without BN/BDE support) and got lucky enough to hook up with/ fall under, a Polish INF unit. I walked more than 10,000 km that year. My squad was the dismounted group. “Find and destroy the enemy and the obstacles they emplace.” The bait. I was an infantryman with explosives, a true Sapper. The cutting edge of the SWORD! Thank God for our Polish warriors and their ROE.
@Paulo Ecletik wow that's dumb... let's get a real life terrorist in studio and talk about using his kids to sweep for mines because it's easier to make more kids than it is to buy a tractor.... just cause their job puts em in an air conditioned box doesn't make you a coward, but thinking you're better than a drone operator because hes safe does make you an idiot. what do you do that's so brave?
Thank you for your service, Rob. After looking at your bio, I realize we graduated from the same high school, insane, from a fellow Loudoun valley grad, thank you brotha.
I was a 12b along time ago and I remember training mine removal and the cap "shotgun primer i think" going off on guys when the mouse trap was there or whatever.....scary as shit! I cant imagine doing it for real ..
Jocko, could you outline achievements of the guests a bit more? It could be just a list spelled in 30 seconds. It would let people focus to the podcast on a totally different level right from the start. E.g., only closer to the end I realised how tough and bad this dude is, God bless him, he is an extraordinary person! Thanks for bringing him to the podcast.
D27Rugen yeah, brought back painful memories of my son, 6 years old at the time, taking it while on hospice. Thankful for gents like this who have served, sacrificed, and still inspire.
My buddy joined the Marines said he was going to be a combat engineer ended up pumping gas lol. He was not the brightest crayon in the box. I thought before he left I bet they are lying to him. Turned out I was right lol he hated those 4 years.

Thankyou for having great life-teachers like this man on here, so we can all learn to stop complaining and get on with things.
A marathon a day for a month? I can't lmagine doing that on fully functioning legs. Dude's a straight up fucking savage. So much respect.
"still in the fight" such a freaking badass! That's a warrior.

Being from Detroit. I love the American Made angle of Origin Maine BJJ.
The way Jocko replied to Charles “No it’s not a brita” sounded like a disappointed dad

Engineers lead the way
Idk if someone mentioned this but most of the time when I think of pirates they have wooden pegs for legs hence the pirate hat.
My buddy joined the Marines said he was going to be a combat engineer ended up pumping gas lol. He was not the brightest crayon in the box. I thought before he left I bet they are lying to him. Turned out I was right lol he hated those 4 years.
At which point does Rob start talking about using the weight? Having a hard time finding that point in the pod cast.
