Now listened to every podcast...I'm getting up at 5am everyday, working out...I've read the book....work is better....I lead corporate teams....now I do it better....stopped judo and Karate when I was 15...starting BJJ next week....at 39....thank you Jocko...& thank you Tim ferris for the intro
I find it hard to believe you listened to every podcast. If you’re telling the truth, then I wish you all the success in your world and remember to eat healthy!
i dont wake up 4.30 fook thatxD but im very disciplined with traning and go after it and train every single day since months now. Everytime i dont feel like it i imagine a dissappointed Jocko face and then i do it 😂
I mean this with the utmost respect. I think an american history project for children, with jocko narrating would be amazing. Intellectual, knowledgable on the topic and a voice that gets attention.
this particular interview ranks as one of the most memorable podcasts I've ever listened to. It's like hearing an entire life being played out, and it's dramatic and raw and just incredible
This is by far the best podcast I have ever listened too. I felt like I was there beside you guys by the way you told the story!! Thank you guys so much for your service and allowing me to hear your war stories. Good and bad! I think what I loved and enjoyed the most was how you talked about your leadership. Very Impressive guys. All of you!
This is my first time actually watching the podcast. Normally my fiance and I listen to it via Stitcher while we get ready in the morning. Best motivation on the 'net.
It's the best watching the video itself, especially to see the guests. You'd never think Echo or JP were as big as they are with how soft their voices are. Plus, you can't beat the black-and-white format of the videos - god, I hope they never change that.
I'm from the army side but I dig the show. Spent my fair share of time up in the triangle myself. Too bad you couldn't have gotten Maj Tom Greer on before he passed. He was the Delta commander on the ground in tora bora. Wrote several books under the pen name Dalton Fury. If you get a chance to read them i would HIGHLY recommend. Another couple dudes from the army side I would recommend having on are Pat McNamara, retired Delta Sergeant Major, he designed the Delta fitness program amogst all kinds of other killer shit, and Tom Spooner, also retired Delta. Doing a lot of positive shit now.
Echo doesn’t get as much respect as he deserves. He sort of serves as a civilian contrast at times against the military counterpart and it casts him in a dimmer light.
C C In one sense Echo doesn’t belong, but that’s what makes him perfect. Having Jocko and another ultra-achiever with him is not nearly as interesting as having Echo, the kind of slacker every-man (with huge guns).
really love this show has helped on many levels for discipline and courage and strength. Definitely gonna keep watching. Has helped me get my new job, start a side hustle on Amazon get my mind right and be my best self. Really appreciate the military mindset. Ben from the London UK.
Get some, Ben!!! I feel the same way. You have more than your fair share of bad asses in the UK. SAS - who dares wins. That’s where it all started. I don’t know if you’ve read Rogue Heroes by Ben Macintyre. Amazing book on the sas. Our British cousins! Rule, Britannia!
Love it. Awesome podcast as usual. It would be cool to get some folks on from other branches and jobs. People like aviators, cultural support team members, marines, arty folks, SF, EOD, heck there are truck drivers out there with some serious warfighting lessons to be shared. You can't paint the complete picture unless you get them on. I would love to see you two pull the stories out the way you do and see the parallels of other warfighting functions.
I am moved. This episode has brought me tears. Lord I am thankful for the war heros. And when you started talking about your kids and your bonus son, I was in tears. Thank you for your service indefinitely
Hearing you guys talk about your men who fell was some seriously heavy stuff to listen to. Having never served I felt very out of place, I didn’t belong, rightfully so. You guys made me respect you even more, thanks for everything.
Haha the sense of humor on these guys I love it, specially when he was talking about Mike cracking chem lights and pushing them through a hole in the ply.
Man I'm about to get fired from my job, because earbuds are not allowed, saftey issue,, but damn I can't stop listening to joko!!!.. JP is a badass as the rest of the guest.. thank you guys for keeping us safe!!
Jocko I'm 17 and listening to your wisdom helps me out in life alot. While listening to your podcast I've come to realize what I wanna do with my life. I'm going to become a SWAT team leader. Thanks you for your wise words.
@TITAN WILKINS It's not too late brother.....I went to boot camp 2 weeks after my 30th Birthday. Follow your dream or end up possibly regretting not doing it later in life. Good luck to you
Top 5 fav Jocko Pods. I haven't listened to all of em but I always go back to this one cuz JP's personality reminds me of myself... I always remember the intro; "He was...HUNTING..."
It's cool that JP mentioned Union City,Tn where myself and the late Aaron Vaughn lived. I can't say I knew Aaron, but was friendly with him and his sister Rhonda. RIP Aaron.
Wow! I grew up almost the same exact way in Cali. I was inspired to fly by Pappy Boyington in Fresno. A family friend flew Spitfires in the Battle for Britain and my flight instructor "Pops" flew the B26 in WW2. Grandpa was a DD guy (USS Perry) and fought from Pearl Harbor until the surrender at Tokyo. My dad was freaky strong too and hammered me as well. So no surprise I joined the USAF as a pilot and then Desert Shield/Storm came to be. It was so frustrating to be on the bench so to speak because I was still in training at the time. Great pod cast. I love all of them.
I remember hearing JP talk about Mikey’s death in a different video and right after it happened he was angry at the leadership for sending them out on one more deployment and was probably dealing with a lot of emotions at the time but when they were discussing it here I almost felt that tension between Jocko and JP about it.
Commanders intent, i have a 2 year old and struggle to keep my family together i will research and apply, thank you for your service j.p. , much respect.
There is heavy , heavy controversy surrounding Kyle. I'm not denigrating his service. I'm referring to the "other" stuff that can be readily found online and confirmed through various sources. He might have caught the "fame" bug and became opportunistic in trying to use a fellow Old Timer Seal who had/has notoriety. The story never made sense on the surface - do some digging.. even listen to Joe Rogan Podcast with Jesse Ventura -- very interesting. Unfortunately some war heroes can become self delusional. It's even odd going to a shooting range with someone who's on mental health watch and ultimately took Kyles life as well as his... Kyle was shooting for glory outside of the "Teams".. as well. Sad sad tale.
You damn right Jocko,I shrink and make myself small as hell when lightning storms are close ,have been flash banged many times and now hit the ground crawling thru my own crap to get to shelter.it was an subconscious act.primal.

+JockoWillink +Echo ... Joe Rogan had on a guy, Dr Mark Goodman who's been doing studies on trauma, TBI's, the brain and it's effects on hormones& the endocrine system. With the mass amount of people who seem to have hormone related issues, maybe it would be sometime to talk to in the future. Might find/be a way to help a bunch of guys/girls home, coming home or out in uniform who are effected by TBI's and other shit. Just a thought. Keep getting it!

That legitimately needs to happen!
What an incredible podcast; officially replaces JRE as my favorite.
Should put to Joe Rogan for putting us onto Jocko aka "Paladin Danse, Brotherhood of Steel"
Im finding myself saying the same thing about all Jocko"s podcasts.
@Joe• definitely
Joe Gil
Joe Rogan ? Oh right I used to look for those podcast. Kinda forgot about him.
Jocko podcast is how it’s done seems to me.
EASILY...Rogan's has no focus

Another fantastic podcast. JP, thanks for your service and all you have done for our country.
This is way better to listen to in the gym than any music.
Copy that.
I LITERALLY do that too LOL

These podcasts are incredibly inspiring. Thank you guys for everything that you do.
4 years later and JP’s comments and admiration for our flag means even more to me. Happy Veterans Day to all. Thank you for your service
One of my all time favorite Jocko Podcasts. JP is an incredible leader, a hero, an amazing human being.
7 Dislikes? GOOD. 7 potential troopers who have lots of room for improvement.

Wish they would do more with a dark background like they did in the beginning. Those are pretty badass.
Dane Rusticus Great comment, but Jocko's voice is in no way "soft" lol.
+LeftLaneDreams -- JP's and Echo's voices are soft...Jocko's voice sounds like a talking hound from the pits of hell

Just a followup. Not sure if you’re a regular listener but pat Mac did make it on and they’ve talked about spooner RIP multiple times.
I read Greer’s book and actually traded tweets with him. Amazing amazing dude. Perfect for the Jocko podcast. Maybe they can do it in Heaven.
He did have pat Mac on and it was as epic as you can imagine. But maybe your comment was before he had pat on.
Echo adds so much to these podcasts.

Fear is no match for my faith
