Canders Diving Services successfully recovered a 28,000 pound grapple skidder from Longfellow Lake, Maine. Diver Greg Canders completed this job in two days during the winter of 2011
I'm from the area. Someone got the bright idea to take an ice shack off the lake with the John Deere. Well the ice didn't hold and it sunk. The tires are locked up cause the water was froze in everything so it was dead weight dragging it out.
OK, rule of thumb here in Maine? 10 inches is enough for a pickup but i like 14 and seeing an average of 22 inches of ice per year, sometimes 18 or even 27 Just exactly how much does it take to hold up a skidder ?
Hey boys...quit going on about that ole GII. You all know that that girl has done her part for many years. I'll bet that that fancy kitty don't make as much return on investment in its lifespan!
Brake pack is hydraulically released and spring applied (fail safe) but there is a couple holes for bolts to thread in and release the clutch pack in the brake.
Wade is Aaron from Maine..I got to say I love Deere..but are whole outfit is changing to cat..the 848 only has a five speed its a slug..these 345 out pull them bad..makes me hurt inside
Operator knew what he was doing.... Used the weight of his equipment to leverage the other machine out... Nicely done.
Got it. The power and traction of the skidder doing the towing is unbelievable

We wouldn't try that round here 😏
I agree with logger wade those old Gs are a tough machine and they last along time
Yay Maine !
damn that's a tough drivetrain
buy a tigercat, they can drag the 545 around. but still good wheelie!
BEAST !!
wow. can't believe one choker held!

YOU ever run swing grapple boom SKIDDER 648. ?
@@douglasgreenough6857 swing booms are for skid cats!
Wow. This video sure brought out all the professional slider operators. 😂😂 Gotta love keyboard warriors
207 shit! Killin it!
Why would u take that out onto, the lake in the first place!!
why was the first skidder out there to begin with.
I’ve heard that if the engine isn’t running on a John Deere there is absolutely no way to release the parking brake. This looks like the case here.

yea kinda thought water must have gotten in everything and froze. damage anyone?
typical, cats gotta pull out the deere
All the chains
Wow!!!!!

I'd like to buy one of those chains, please
Do I see a cable coming from shore hooked the the pulling machine ?
Man....I'da left that deere in the hole!! lol
I admire the cat but still have to say I would buy a deere
that's putting the power to the ground. Cat power
Was the skidder left in gear? Seemed so!
you can't take a john deere skidder out of gear unless it will start
hehe thats one reason to NOT buy Deere, lmao
There is a way to release the brakes.with a greasegun
I run a 648 swing grapple in IDAHO.
Why on Earth didn't some one take that 2nd skidder out of gear??
because the motor got to be running the brake are hydraulicaly depress...
you cant release the brake without the machine runnin
carl450r yeah you can there is a kickout on them
I know, but apparently no one wanted to do this operation at this time would have been too long
Um no rule of thumb is not 2 inches 2 tons
Are YOU a logger -logg-HER-♡-?
How'd it get there?
why was it on the lake ?
they were fishing huge pike
ossom power in thows skidders
fuck yes..this is expert
Archimedes....
What did they forget to take it out of a gear, tires weren't even rolling.
frozen sat over night
@@az0970449how about they didn't use kickout
cat will do that all day
That's cause it ain't heavy enough on the front end. I wouldn't have an operator who rears a machine like that. That's how axles get broken.
Put ur dam boom lower, arch all they way forward and it won't wheelie everywhere, oh and get some experience while ur at it
