  • How many Chimpanzee in the world? The video shows number of wild Chimpanzee in every country in the world. Today it's estimates that there are 172,000-300,000 chimpanzees remaining in the wild.
    Chimpanzees inhabit tropical forests and savannas of equatorial Africa from Senegal in the west to Lake Albert and northwestern Tanzania in the east.
    This video includes 2 species that belong to the genus Pan: the common chimpanzees and the bonobos. The common chimpanzees are divided into four subspecies: the eastern, western, central, and Nigeria-Cameroon chimpanzees.
    1. The eastern chimpanzee is another one of the subspecies of the common chimpanzee that is found in many countries of Africa including Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Sudan, DRC, and CAR. It is classified as Endangered by the IUCN. population ranges from 21,000-55,000 individuals.
    2. The Nigeria-Cameroon chimpanzee inhabits the rainforests of Africa that cover parts of the border of Nigeria and Cameroon. It is the most endangered of the four subspecies with population between 3,500 and 9,000 individuals.
    3. The western chimpanzee lives in western Africa. The biggest populations are concentrated in the countries of Guinea and Côte d'Ivoire. Today, there are only about 21,300 to 55,600 wild Western chimpanzees living in Africa.
    4. The central chimpanzee lives in Africa where it is found in the Republic of the Congo, Cameroon, and Gabon. Small populations also exist in Equatorial Guinea, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and a few other countries. The central chimpanzee is the most numerous of all chimpanzee subspecies, with a population of up to 115,000 individuals.
    5. The bonobo is an endangered great ape that is closely related to its sister species, the common chimpanzee. These animals are found in a limited range that covers the area of the Congo Basin in DRC, Central Africa. The IUCN Red List classifies bonobos as an endangered species with population ranging from 29,500 to 50,000 individuals.
