    Well, I've had a '16, '17, '19 and I'm on my 2nd '23, the 1st was totaled back in January. The 3 prior to the 1st '23 were just color changes, both 23's are and were Grand Touring in Platinum Quartz w/ Terracotta Napa Leather seats. The only changes done to both of the '23's were to install the Goodwin RoadsterSport Race muffler's. Sounds close to the 64 MGB I had back in the day. The feelings are still there, but not the reflexes these days. I've been waiting for anyone to comment on the expensive canvass ragtops, but they never do. All those old MG's came with Vinyl tops with plastic rear windows. Hell, even the magnificent Morgan's come with vinyl ragtops. I think pointing out that in one of your driver reviews would be helpful to a lot of people out here. Good video, thanks, Carl

    Bilstein shocks also come with the kit. I understand they are on the grand touring as well, but back in 2016-17 it was called the bbb kit, bilstein, brembo, and bbs. But now it adds the recaro’s, and the body trim came with it but could be separately ordered. Another small known trim is the alcantara inserts that were orders ls back in 2021. Including dash, door cards, shifter boot, and handbrake boot and handle, all alcantara to match the recaro’s.

      The Bilstein shocks are standard with the Club even without the BBS Brembo Recaro package and also standard on the Grand Touring trim with manual transmission. In the USA.

    • @jasongaudreau2075
      @jasongaudreau2075 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@RPO767 it’s good to know but, the bilsteins just add to name brand effect, the particular models of bilstein shocks used are really not that great. But, as a package from the manufacturer, the club with all package upgrade is THE model to purchase (at least as a starting point for sporty ride). Manual transmission is a MUST, compromised suspension has always been the trade off, either the vehicle has Cadillac pillow ride (which compromises at peak handling, or, precise handling, which gives a hard ride to the driver). I can say I love the mx5 platform of near 50/50 weight distribution, small size to make you feel in control of the entire vehicle, and legal power. You can do a 3-4 gear redline blast onto a public highway from an on ramp without blowing past the legal speed limits and/or flying past limits of driver control. If you’ve ever done that on a 1000cc super bike, you’ll know what I mean….a driver/rider can break laws in 1st gear…2nd is jail time….3rd gear at redline is near death lol.

    To be honest, i expected a little more from the package. Brembo brakes and BBS rims look awesome, but aren’t a big improvement as being the rotor same dimension. Bilstein are a bit of a delusion, i’m going to change sway bars because the car isn’t very sporty to drive. Recaro seats are fantastic, but i’m a bit disappointed by the cost of the car. It’s a very good looking car, but it’s just starting point for a fun-to-drive toy. Lot of cash have to be spent on.

  • @bbbmw
    @bbbmw ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The Recaros are absolutely absolutely worth it to me. Those seats are incredibly comfortable. So much better than the leather seats. I’ve done a 6 hour road trip no problems, 3 hours in the standard leather seats in my GT I had before the club, my back was in pain. The BBS wheels are hard to keep clean, look terrible with any dust on them from the Brembos, and there is a strange brake imbalance with having such powerful brakes only on the front with not so sticky tires. Recaros definitely, the rest I could live without 🤷🏽‍♂️ I’m 5’8” 175 lbs so that car is tailor fit for me. Your results may vary

    I just ordered a base and only option - the sound red exterior color. The price is $29,810. They discounted it to $29,000. So it comes with gloss back wheels standard and the black cloth top. I don’t plan on tracking so I don’t feel I need BREMBO brakes or the Recaro seats. These seats felt a bit too restrictive with a narrow center and larger bolsters. Plus they felt harder than the standard seats too. In addition I think the 16” wheels will look and feel better with more rubber for a retro look. They also will provide a smoother ride. So yes the added $4500 makes the car look cool but in the red with standard gloss black wheels it still looks great and I save about $9,000. The added aero black gloss cosmetic bits are easily added by the dealer later for essentially the same look as the club. For $29k it’s an amazing toy!

I owned a ND1 GT soft top and my 6'2" 180lb friend fit just fine. His head didn't touch the roof at all and he had plenty of legroom.

Those Recaros with the rails and sliders are gonna be about $4000 alone and they won't be heated or have the speakers inside. Then the BBS wheels are a few thousand, the Brembo brake kit is close to $2000 installed and the body kit on top of all that. With installation of all these items included I'd say you're paying about half of what you would if this wasn't through Mazda.

The Brembo brakes and BBS wheels don't bring much in the way of performance to the table, although they do look good. I'm planning to purchase a ND3 GT soft top, which has quite a few nice features over the Club, and use the money I save to upgrade the suspension, which is the only upgrade the car really needs.
