DayZ is turning 10 years old this year and having played the game since the first day of release, I can certainly say it has come quite a long way. I dug up one of my earliest videos where I played DayZ, back in 2013 and a video 5 years later in 2018, and re-edited those moments together to share with you. At the end I will show you how big the contrast is with today’s DayZ experience, with an encounter I experienced this week in 2023.

I came late to the dayz party. I have 1700 hrs and it's my one and only game. I am 46 and a perfect game.for me.i learnt to play through a streamer. Smoke. Learnt loads of little techniques, having said that I am still rubbish at PvP. PVE I am the king of kings. For me namalsk is a perfect map, no matter what game, it's simply sublime

That early video from yours was one of the the first, or even the first DayZ video that was recommended to me. That Magnum clip at the construction stayed in my head until today, every time when I think "What was the first dayz video i watched", I've had this one in mind. Ended up binge watching youre channel for a week and finally bought the game a year later when I had a better PC. The rest is history. Pure nostalgia these old clips. Time flies past man.

I prefer some the old ambient audio, bird sounds were better and no constant high winds in your ears lol
I think the early version, the bird chirps, the screen turns white when you get hit , and the picture quality is the best, not like today, over 200 meters is a thick pile of fog

It’s come a long way from the dayz when you only knew what was up with your character by the “inner voice messages” in the bottom left of the screen.

OMG. m1ndr!!!! you were the first Dayz video i ever watched, and it got me curious, this was on christmas day, its been like 9 months since then. id never played a survival shooter before.... nothing remotely like it. and you started an unwitting obsession for me. i now have 2500 hours, and im so happy and grateful to have had my time spent exploring chernarus. met some cool people along the way, and had some wild adventures.

I’ve been playing since 2018 and even from then it’s changed so much. I remember the days where one fat and a cooking pot of water meant u never needed to get food or water again and when duct tape could fix everything. Those where the days

Honestly M1NDR, back in the day when I was younger Dayz was so much more exciting. I used to watch all your streams being a teen with way too much free time and worked my ass off to buy my own PC to start playing Dayz myself.
I still enjoy Dayz, but this clunky Alpha game was all I needed. Nothing is as intense as this crazy game.

I played the arma2 dayz mod from 2010 to 2013. The evolution from that till now is insane. I even played arma1 before that !
The footsteps in 0.63 lmao. The first time I played, I went into a house, and there was 100s of items scattered throughout. I was so confused, I've learned this was the "loot-explosion" 0.5 ish. Anyways, the zombies terrified me and I stopped playing until I think 0.62. It moved pretty quickly from 0.63 to official launch IIRC.

Ive only had the pleasure of playing this game for 3 years so far and only on console but watching all the old content from guys like yourself it's great how far it has come along in its development,dare i say i actually feel lucky to have what we do on console even with all the bugs that pop up through the updates it could be so much worse,its really a special game and i hope the devs dont forget about us peasants any time soon.

Yeah I though that too. M1ndr is one the very few left who actually played the original Dayz. Sada, Superftlol and Toby are the only others who stayed around from the original crew. How can you make a video about Dayz and leave out 2012 and 2013, the original golden days when it was a global trailblazer? Respect to M1ndr though, he is an original Dayz legend.

DayZ back in the day was better change my mind.
Back then when you got shot it took irl hours to heal, every gun was deadly when used rigth, and gunfigths where sometimes hour long affairs where every step was thougth through.
Nowdays if you get shot you are back up to full in 10 min, if you equip a helmet and armor you are immune to dying and every gunfigth is just who can rush in and spam Q and E the fastes while spraying the most bullets.
Even if you uncon someone today you don't even have enough time to run over and tie him up, dayz has become to casual.
I still come back to this game every time the new games get boring this game never does

Your content has always been top tier, up with the Dayz legends of Frankie, Mr Moon and Wolfie Venturi. I still rate Hunting Bandits Episode 16 from 2014 as 7 minutes of the most perfect example of classic Dayz. Oh, and big respect for speaking your mind about the game and not licking ass like other fake big streamers. Looking forward to some great Dayz stories. All the best.

Could not even get the game to play on the ancient pc I used to play with back in 2013. Was a World of Tanks and other mil sim fanatic then. Oh, and those GFits are intriguing. I could wear those at work. I wonder how well they work for phone calls while driving.

I haven't been able to play properly for years because of the rendering upgrades, All I get is stuttering no matter how much I tweak the visuals. In all this time (1300 hours) I haven't been able to upgrade my PC. I'm glad to see DayZ has a burgeoning community still!
10 friggin years.. all i ever wanted was GOOD zombies and boy did that take a long time to get right. We have good zombies now, they can bash in doors now aswell i found out the other day. That took soooo long to add but shit what didnt take ages to add to old dayz FAR OUT !!

ear buds are becoming the norm now over traditional headsets. comfort, weight, sound all in one tiny little piece of plastic over heavy, bulky headsets that give you headache, while making your hair thin out. I think these companies will slowly bring out good quality IEMs
