This was my favorite arc of the entire FFXIV MSQ. I mean I love Shadowbringers but I also love Stormblood, this is like the best of both worlds. 4.4 and 4.5 were just something else.
If the Omega and Shinryu fight in the end of Heavensward didn’t convince anyone to try playing past this game’s free trial, then imagine being left with such a big cliffhanger in the “Throw wide the gates” mystery once you reach the end of Stormblood (where the expanded free trial ends). And if that cliffhanger wasn’t enough, then imagine watching the Shadowbringers trailer afterwards and trying to figure out what the heck is going on with the Scions. I absolutely adore how amazing the Stormblood patches ended up being, and how it prepares everyone for Shadowbringers. As someone who enjoyed the Hildibrand quests I’m so glad that they continued his story after how abrupt his story supposedly ended here in Stormblood without any continuation in Shadowbringers, only for him and his escapades to reappear once more in Endwalker. The Greg is Jim reveal still cracks me up to this day. The Ivalice alliance raids are definitely a hit and miss, especially if someone played this and hasn’t played FF Tactics (I honestly can’t blame them though, that game really needs a modern remastered version like the pixel remaster). At least the Bozja as well as Pandaemonium story in later expansions reference this raid and makes it’s story a lot more relevant later on. I’m kinda glad that Eureka was optional content, though it does make some people who haven’t play this content wonder how important this story will be (or if it will tie in the main story at all) since Krile is involved and she gets to play a bigger role in the upcoming expansion. I still have people asking me if Galuf would be appearing in Dawntrail and all I can keep tell them is to play Eureka to know more (and get a really awesome mount while they’re at it).
I suspect if they are still doing role quests in Dawntrail The Dawn Warriors could be a way to present some historic events that tie into the expansion areas. We have oddly enough not heard a single word on role or delivery quests yet being 2 months to release now it makes you wonder but they neither have confirmed them to be cancelled either so maybe they are keeping it close to chest.
Really enjoyed your recaps of ffxiv. Only wished that you had through Endwalker before the release of Dawn Trail. Ive looked through so many other content creators videos and yours have in my opinion been the best recaps.
All your videos heavensward + were great for me to catch up on the story before the next expac, I tried a bunch but they either left out way too much important stuff or were waaay too long. You managed a really nice balance here
As much as I disliked Stormblood, it was definitely a necessary expansion. All these threads had to come together at some point and while they could've been spread differently, making a slower expansion about somewhat of a side conflict was a good way to get the ball rolling towards the final acts of this first part of FF14 (second really but we don't talk about 1.0).
I will certainly get to it... I am just waiting for S-E to say there will be no more story DLC. (Because they originally said there would be No Story DLC and we all saw how they pivoted on that)
Oni, just a nitpick, but it's not pronounced Genebu or Jinbu - it's GEN with a hard G sound. Gen-bu. Love all of your videos but that was like a razor, fingernails, nails, and gravel on a chalkboard for me personally. The five prime lords/guardians of Edo from Chinese/Japanese mythology have always fascinated me since being introduced to the concept via Final Fantasy Legend/SaGA series back in the 90's as a young teen. Like I said, I always catch your work, this is just a nitpick for me and the only issue I have.

Do you plan to continue the series?
4.1 has some of the best and one of the worst moments of the patches
I would love to see you do a recapitation of FF16

@@OniBlackMage Don't rush! Please! Take as much time as you can! I can wait
Am I the only one that was pissed that they killed Ash?

Please recap Nier Reincarnation.
Getting to fight omega was such a long and unnecessary bunch of trials.
