I have the same exact car. If you want a sport-car, do not get this car. It's no slug, and has plenty of power for everyday driving. No problem passing anyone in this car. It's very comfortable and the options on it are simply great. I honestly cannot complain about a fully loaded sonata, the ride is comfortable the heated and cooling seats are great for summer and winter. panoramic sunroof is more for the passengers, although in dark cloudy days it adds much needed light to the cabin. the safety features are life savers (literally). This is simply a very well put together practical sedan with everything you need. My only complain would be that the seats could be more comfortable, although that's only apparent when I take 4+ hrs trips. I wish they would've also added automatic retractable side mirrors and front parking sensors (the back sensors work very well).
I have the exact car also, just as a Sport 2.0T Limited. Basically a Sport 2.0T with the Ultimate Package and different wheels. I agree with you about everything except the seats. Just this past weekend I spent a total of 11 hours behind the wheel for a weekend getaway. Almost 5 hours on Friday evening and 6+ hours Sunday on the return due to traffic. I'm 6ft 2 , 200 pounds and have nerve damage in my lower legs and feet from cancer / chemotherapy. Seat comfort was more important of a car purchase issue than it was veer before and these seats won for me.
Ive owned this car for 6 months with 35k miles GREAT car. Brakes are strong and suspension is way stiffer than 90% of sedans Usually 0-60 for me is under 5.5 seconds with MXM4 Michelin tires
I used to drive a Sonata Turbo. I liked the turbo but wanted something 'sportier' so I traded up to a Genesis Coupe Turbo. I drove the V6 Coupe, but it did not have the get-up-and-go as quickly as I like with the 4 cylinder. And now, there is no more 4 cylinder turbo in the Coupe so I am probably going to go with another car company for my next car purchase.
3:49 - I love all the breaks in the sheet metal in the trunk and how they didn't bother to really hem it up nice. You might say it's not necessary, but what it says to me is they're concerned about the bottom line and could care less if it rusts out in 5 years. They want you to buy a new one anyways. AND YES, I understand this isn't the underside of the car, this part of the car won't see inclement weather, but just being able to see big gaps like that in the overlapping sheets makes me cringe and wonder where else such a flaw can be found.
Had a non-turbo on vacation.... Handles fine; had some fun driving from LA to Big Bear Lake. The Kumho Solus tires did complain though. Though the brakes did feel mushy
Thank you, This is a great review, lets do this for the future for every test car please and forget the almost everything you ever want to know reviews..... Thanks
This video is proof positive you can make an interesting and informative review of a car without having to go to the expense of hiring a race track and ruining the car's tyres. This is great work, Dan, really impressive. Oh, by the way, did you manage to do it without a script ?
Im glad you called them out on the trunk hoop hinges... no reason those should still be used nowadays. You hear me WRX, Lexus IS, Cadillac CTS, and others??? There are 17,000 dollar cars that have better trunk hinge mechanisms. Hell the mustang has had a nice one since 2005.
+Ultimatemxcn The only mid size sedan that doesn't use goose necks is the Subaru Legacy and the only compact car that uses trunk struts is the antiquated Mitsubishi Lancer. Reviewers more often than not complain about goosenecks being too far in the trunk rather then farther to the sides to avoid interference with cargo
Excellent review! Personally, I really like it; the look, the features, the ride (yeah I've driven one). Seriously considering getting one, one day and not because I work at a Hyundai dealership.
I plan to get one of these cars...the first thing I'm going to do is remove the T off of the trunk lid so of somebody pulls up to the side and tries to take me off the line I can blow them away....lol...they won't know it's a turbo..lol
i have a 2007 Toyota Camry XLE v6 and planning to change to something that better look .but reliability and maintenance cost are my concern . i was looking for Honda Accord Sport . But unfortunately Honda are using CVT transmission. and that to me is a bad news. so Honda out of my shopping list .. that's why i was searching after that Sonata 2017 OR 2018 . the 2.0T limited Sport. are my choice. my only concern is the Turbo.if is it going to be expensive and headache to repair !!! if anyone would advice from real life experience it would be much appreciated .. thank you ..
+Doug N. It's not that big of an engine, it's only a 3.5L twin turbo. Though where I used to live I couldn't use the power all that much but now I live where I can take it to a track once I get my racing license
I'm sorry when you look at Acura you don't think luxury Lexus Cadillac Mercedes BMW now that's luxury but Honda they can keep trying lol I would take a Hyundai over a Honda or Acura any day lol
Cristopher Quezada no your crazy.... Acura cars are some of the worst selling vehicles in America right now. Clearly other people are thinking the same way.
Sorry but this is not a luxury car idk why people keep saying that. This is just a normal car that gives you value features for your money to pull ahead of competition. I'm sure it's a great car for what you get new but once you sit Ina. Real luxury car like a 5 series or a e class or even infinity or Acura for acceptable amenities there ahead of this car in the luxury department. That are giving completion a good run for the money because what everybody wants is feature that are affordable. Of course the cars I listed are more expensive and maybe over priced but there's no arguing against the luxury cars I've listed. Those tail pipes are a little silly unless it had some real power under the hood
The sonata is not billed as a luxury car. It competes against the accord, Camry and Mazda 6 not the 5 series, e class or Lexus. With similarly powered engines you could argue that dollar for dollar the sonata is the better buy.
+melmelcorvette Honestly brands like Acura and Infinity have been slipping. The new civic is better then the ILX and the g series has languished by comparison to its competition. The CLA is one of the most hated luxury cars in production. I think this is largely due to every day cars becoming more powerful luxurious and technologically advanced for there price. I'm not trying to say a Sonata is better then an F sport I just think that if you want a luxury car for a soft ride nice materials and lots of tech up trim midsize and compact cars are a better value.
Really like your reviews Dan, but the mic you use really grates on me. Super harsh. Sounds like you're yelling into a can. Hope you find some way to soften that up a little bit.
I will pass, I rather keep my Acura TLX, the interior of this car doesn't look that great to me nice try tho is better than the previous generation ... Keep trying Nice review!!
Indeed, I'll prefer almost any other brand but Hyundai a Kia are making very good looking cars and probably in the future they're going to be better than most brands, the ugliest part of Hyundai and kia is the name
The TLX is not in the same class and is much more expensive. A similarly packaged TLX would be nearly $10k more. The Azera would be a closer competitor
@charlie: I was saying that cuz the price of the tlx starts around 31k and this Hyundai is about 30k I won't never pay 30k for a Hyundai maybe 20k but not 30k that's just my opinion!
Am I the only one that thinks they went backwards in design with this 2015? My brothers 2011 seems to have a much better looking interior that doesn't look sedate and boring as this one. Also the exterior of the new one looks more conservative and plain.
Yes Hyundai may look nice but they really NEED to step it up on quality and refinement. My 2013 Elantra GT is VERY disappointing. The sunroof rattles, windshield had to be resealed, my gas mileage is WAY under as advertised etc... Not to mention my dads 2015 Genesis had to be, get this, TOWED out of my own garage! Please Hyundai put a little more effort in...
Pedro Pedrosoy WTF dude it had nothing to do with my dad its the car! It was completely dead no power whatsoever, not even the interior lights came on... The people sent to jump it couldn't even jump it! they tried everything including using a jumper battery, jumper cables, even a semi truck battery! Wouldn't turn over. The dealer said nothing was wrong, just a fluke.
This is my 3rd Hyundai btw.. Mileage seems to vary depending on what kind of gas I use and seems to get better with longer highway driving. Right now in mixed driving I think I'm getting around 27 mpg
AntsAfan301 Your joking right?! I would dream of getting 27mpg! I'm getting 20 with almost strictly city and about 32 highway. Also what octane gas do you use?
Hyundai is somewhat prone to doing that. Just like the Velocitor Turbo whose looks write checks the chassis and drivetrain can't cash. The Fusion does have a nicely tuned chassis. For that matter $35K will buy you a very nicely equipped 200 and with the V6 it will move and handle quite well in its own rite. Not that the Hyundai is a bad car - I'm just not sure it is the best buy in the higher trim levels.
***** But in the C&D test, they did put a disclaimer saying that it was a pre production Sonata they tested. Iv'e gotten a 7.0 sec 0-60 with a bad start & traction.
I have the same exact car. If you want a sport-car, do not get this car. It's no slug, and has plenty of power for everyday driving. No problem passing anyone in this car. @BobertSystemOfficial When did I say that?
How refreshing an actual review on TFL where "nice" wasn't used to describe everything. Thanks Dan I hope Are Permanent, I might just resubscribe.
Great review! This generation is much nicer than the last.
Ive owned this car for 6 months with 35k miles
GREAT car. Brakes are strong and suspension is way stiffer than 90% of sedans
Usually 0-60 for me is under 5.5 seconds with MXM4 Michelin tires
Also I test drove a ford fusion and this is much better
I bought one of these yesterday and I absolutely love it even though it doesn't get the same gas mileage my '14 Sonata got.
u are a woman's right?
How are you liking it now??
damn 19mpg avg....thats crazy low. I drive my 12 2.0t hard as hell and still manage 24-25mpg avg
I love my 2015 its fully loaded and fun
I used to drive a Sonata Turbo. I liked the turbo but wanted something 'sportier' so I traded up to a Genesis Coupe Turbo. 2017 Genesis coupe is supposed to be a twin turbo v6 with 480 hp
i have a 2014 sonata 2.0t and its surprisingly quick for what it is
+Doug N. I got mine for 20,000. It was about a 32,000 dollar car a year ago
year by year hyundai is getting better and better.. some of the angle and styles of this car have some similarity from Audi..
3:49 - I love all the breaks in the sheet metal in the trunk and how they didn't bother to really hem it up nice. Had a non-turbo on vacation.... Handles fine; had some fun driving from LA to Big Bear Lake. The Kumho Solus tires did complain though. Though the brakes did feel mushy
Tan N I had the solid tires then got Michelin mxm4 which have much more grip
Thank you, This is a great review, lets do this for the future for every test car please and forget the almost everything you ever want to know reviews..... Thanks
Great review format and delivery.
This video is proof positive you can make an interesting and informative review of a car without having to go to the expense of hiring a race track and ruining the car's tyres. This is great work, Dan, really impressive. Oh, by the way, did you manage to do it without a script ?
MrKeyboardCommando - Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. No script for any Quick Pics - just a window sticker and plenty of coffee.
@danreviewscars Stella work, as always, but, please don't neglect your " still life " reviews. Your photographs are excellent.

Great review no BS very honest and straightforward
Great job on the review 👍
Why is the headlight so dim when driving at night
The HID lights are pretty bright at night
Hey. I'm not sure you can compare these numbers of power and torque with a HEMI.
I have one I love every second of it
The Acura TLX is bullshit nothing but a souped up Honda Accord lol
Excellent review! Personally, I really like it; the look, the features, the ride (yeah I've driven one). Seriously considering getting one, one day and not because I work at a Hyundai dealership.
***** I do, but unfortunately I no longer work at the dealership.

Very straight forward review. Well done!
Still....even with all that new stuff in it, I really won't give up my (1998) S6 . Looks better inside and outside ..
good look with maintenance.....
i have a 2007 Toyota Camry XLE v6 and planning to change to something that better look .but reliability and maintenance cost are my concern . i was looking for Honda Accord Sport . Not bad for the price. My car came with pretty much the same stuff but cost 50k, though it has a much more powerful engine.
+Doug N. It's not that big of an engine, it's only a 3.5L twin turbo. Though where I used to live I couldn't use the power all that much but now I live where I can take it to a track once I get my racing license

I enjoyed the review, but a couple of 0-60 runs on a flat stretch of black top would be appreciated

read what it says, It says Infinity or Acura for acceptable amenities in the luxury dept.

really good review. thanks!
Enjoyed the review.
Really like your reviews Dan, but the mic you use really grates on me. Super harsh. Sounds like you're yelling into a can. Hope you find some way to soften that up a little bit.
1guyin10 - I know. Same mic the guys use for studio recording, but for some reason, it doesn't work well with my setup. Refinements are in process.
I will pass, I rather keep my Acura TLX, the interior of this car doesn't look that great to me nice try tho is better than the previous generation ... Keep trying

I love my Acura too, but Acura should take notes on the exhaust. Hiding the tips is ridiculous

@henry: well I have a tlx and it doesn't bother to be honest... I actually customize my tlx just lil bit and it looks good to me!
It looks great!
Wow an actual informative and good review from tfl color me impressed
Just because the car has sport in its name doesn't make it a sports car. The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport isn't a sports car its a hyper car.
Am I the only one that thinks they went backwards in design with this 2015? My brothers 2011 seems to have a much better looking interior that doesn't look sedate and boring as this one. Also the exterior of the new one looks more conservative and plain.
I have a 2013 SE,no bells & whistles & I still like it over the 2015 Hyundai Sonata or KIA Optima, even like the outside styling better as well
Yeah I've heard about the improvements, but I still wouldn't prefer it....if I had to change vehicles, don't know what I'd choose....
Yes Hyundai may look nice but they really NEED to step it up on quality and refinement. My 2013 Elantra GT is VERY disappointing. Fusion is sexier and nicer to drive. At least the AWD Titanium is...
Most of my disappointment with this car is because of the interior quality and the less-than-impressive power.
Great review, keep that! :-)
16.37 phone link time?! I really wanted one under the 16.35 benchmark...im gonna pass on the car......back to living under this bridge buahhaha
Looks like another case of throwing the word "sport" or an "S" on a car and trying to pass it off as sporty.
Hyundai is somewhat prone to doing that. Just like the Velocitor Turbo whose looks write checks the chassis and drivetrain can't cash. The Fusion does have a nicely tuned chassis.
