Just a warning though, there is some rather upsetting talk of murder in it, since Harte’s sister was murdered on honeymoon in Mauritius. Polish military, a legion, who were with the French army were sent to Haiti to "deal with prisoners" trying to rebel. When they realised that these are not prisoners but slaves fighting for their independence, they took their side and fought against the French. That's why there is a Polish diaspora in Haiti.

    This means the world to me Father. I converted to the Catholic faith almost a decade ago. Once I moved to a heavily Hispanic area I became so shocked and abhorred at the syncretism and demonic practices that get mixed with the Catholic faith. The biggest shock to me is zero discussion from the pulpit.
    I have witnessed first hand people sacrificing to Satan in Guatemala under the use of “folks saints”, I get sick of going to the supermarkets and seeing the Death Saint (Santa Muerte) sold out. I have seen this crap placed on shrines of Church grounds.

    During the Haitian war of independence French sent also Polish troops that were Napoleons allies. They did not liked idea to fight Haitians as they themselves were fighting for freedom. They joined Haitians and fought against French. When Haitians won, they banned whites to own any land, with exception for the Poles. Many of them settled in Haiti, and one can still see their heritage in some villages there.

    I felt the need to clarify some things, the way the priest talks about the republic and the declarations of independence seems to me to be a historical error.
    Of course, in the American and Haitian cases they seem to be just revolts, but in the rest of Latin America this is not the case, Spain and Portugal were in the 16-19th century the pivotal countries in neo-Thomism, which triggered the conversion of the natives, in the construction of universities, infrastructure and education.
    in the biggest countries of latin america, all the revolts were unjust and with the liberal support of the USA: Mexico, Venezuela, Bolivia, Argentina and Brazil, and the understanding of the formation of countries by self-determination cannot be universalized at all, it is bad and only must be allowed in case of any type of injustice.
    What happened in the countries mentioned above was revolt for the sake of revolt.
    As a Brazilian Catholic conservative, I would prefer that Brazil continued to be a colony of Portugal(but preferably that Portugal and Spain had never been separated.), and that was the intention of several conservatives in Latin America, at the beginning of the revolts against the Spanish empire, there were indigenous provinces that fought alongside the Spaniards.
    I just felt the need to demonize this vision of the glorification of republics and colonial revolts that is seen by the vast majority of Americans, Catholic or not, who have embraced the ideas of liberalism(At least in this regard), and that I personally saw in the priest's and Matt's speeches.
    Because certainly these revolutions opened gaps for liberal ideas in these countries, and consequently secularism, just as the monarchies of Austria and Spain were the main opponents of these ideas, the republics were most susceptible to them.
    Feel free to disagree and to give your considerations, God bless you.

    • @masterchief8179
      @masterchief8179 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      So if (or when) you feel ready to convert, avoid syncretism, brother. You know the path when yiu know the bad reality. The exact same reality happens in Brazil in some regions with huge African influence: slaves were forced to follow Catholicism by their masters and owners, then they mingled their pagan deities with some saints so as to avoid punishment and come unnoticed; and many practitioners of Umbanda and Candomblé, two kinds of African religions, often disguise among Catholics today. The same happened in any part where religion was forced. So they are condemned by the Church (those imposing the faith through force and those promoting syncretism), even if the Church ‘per se’ does not condemn the plurality of customs and cultural practices if they are not a desecration to the pure faith and a way to pollute the true worship to the divine and perfect unity of the Father, through the Son, in the Spirit, in His one Church and His one faith. God bless!

    Hello, Protestant here! Could anybody help me to understand why someone or a country would be consecrated to Mary using a particular image? Loved this episode!!

    • @jwolsk2
      @jwolsk2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, the notion of consecration is deeply rooted in the Old Testament/Jewish law and is fulfilled by Jesus in the New Testament.
      "The solemn setting apart of a person or thing (or nation in this case) to a special use or purpose". For example, David consumes consecrated bread (bread of the Presence) from the tabernacle in I Samuel 21. This is a foreshadowing and fully fulfilled when Jesus offers His presence in bread during the Last Supper/ the Passover (why we call the moment the priest lifts up the host during holy mass- consecration, and why it is stored in a tabernacle)
      In regards to Mary, because Scripture tells us she is "full of grace", and because God has chosen to be Christ's and our mother, she became the "giver of grace". Grace can only be given from God, but He has chosen her as the dispenser of all grace. Consecration to Mary is a solemn vow to thread our hearts completely to Jesus' heart just like she did, through humility and complete surrender to His will. You are surrendering all of the moments of your life to God. In consecrating to Mary you are also asking for Mary's intercession/ prayer in all moments of your life and her guidance. The image itself (albeit beautiful) is not special, but what it represents is special and holy (Mary as our Blessed Mother will always help/perpetual help as she glorifies God by praying for us).
      Sorry for the long- winded explanation. Consecration to Mary and praying the rosary literally saved my life/ soul and brought me back to God, so I am very passionate about it. I can't explain the depths of it in words to you.
      If you're interested, I encourage you to look into it more. I have never felt more loved by God. God bless you!

    • @natmmeyer
      @natmmeyer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jwolsk2 Wow, thank you so much!! Not long winded at all-I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and found it super informative and interesting! I have been in my “pre-catechumen” stage for about a year and I am still learning so much…it’s incredible. I am just now starting to feel brave enough to try praying the rosary (sounds strange but growing up this type of practice was strictly forbidden) and I’m excited. I didn’t want to do it until I really understood what was going on. I will definitely keep looking into this. Thanks again 🙂

    • @jwolsk2
      @jwolsk2 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@natmmeyer that's really amazing that you're learning the rosary. I imagine the whole process of exploring Catholicism has been a leap of faith! It really is beautiful and true and the learning is life long. I just learned how to pray the rosary 3 years ago. The TH-cam channel onehailmaryatatime really helped me get over my misunderstandings of the rosary/ Mother Mary and is so inspirational. They pray the rosary every day and the guest often gives their testimony. God bless you on your journey! :) I pray you soon get to experience Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. It is surely worth it.

    I wish lovely Catholics would understand this, its either super fancy indecent clothes, or just shorts or sweatpants.... Can we dress with joy to meet the Lord 😭 at the very least be decent. You'd never go sloppy to meet the royal family, why would you think its ok to mass that way, as though you were going for a pool party 🙄

      Doesn't dressing modestly go with authentic Christianity? The West which has largely been de-Christianied by the Left thought, needs to return to its roots and reclaim its moral standing.

    Matt Fradd, please stop trashing Catholic schools in a wholesale manner. I have been a teacher at multiple schools where boys grow up to become great priests. We teach the kids how to pray the rosary and bring them to mass regularly. These are regular, affordable Catholic schools in my area. I get it that it’s not like that everywhere, which is why you should not disparage them all. Call out particulars, if you know specific Catholic schools that are falling short.

      Would you feel comfortable saying what area of the country you’re in? Cuz I went to a high school where they “brought us to Mass regularly,” and had us pray the rosary - but the Mass was pretty repulsive, and the biennial rosary was just that. Meanwhile we got a pretty aggressively atheist curriculum, with a couple senescent older women giving theology classes; those women were trying to get through a lesson plan that pissed off their unruly classes, and as a result were not able to combat the hours a day the kids were getting from atheist history teachers and English teachers and science teachers.
      Y’know, I’m sure in the last four decades my high school had some alumni who became priests. But that’s not BECAUSE of that school, but IN SPITE of it. Same reason my high school produced so many honorable heroic servicemen: The community that went to that school (because it was better than the public schools where you’d get stabbed) was already patriotic IN SPITE of the school.

      @@claymcdermott718 I’m in Louisiana. All of what you mentioned unfortunately still occurs at many schools. But, on the whole, the schools I have been to make sure that Jesus is the center of all the truth taught at the school. Also, we regularly remind ourselves at faculty meetings that our primary job is to make sure these kids stay Catholic, develop an awareness of God’s presence, and get to heaven.

      @@bcampbell8344 I wish my Catholic schools would have been more like that in the 70's and 80's in Minnesota. Websites didn't exist back then, but I look at some now out of curiosity. Many say they accept students of all faiths. I think that perpetuates the problem of watering down the faith. Even good orthodox faculty can't alienate those students.

    Will you go to Heaven?
    Here’s a quick test: Have you ever lied, stolen, or used God’s name in vain?
    Jesus said, “Whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”
    If you have done these things, God sees you as a lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterer at heart, and the Bible warns that one day God will punish you in a terrible place called Hell. But God is not willing that any should perish.
    Sinners broke God’s Law and *Jesus paid their fine. This means that God can legally dismiss their case:*
    *"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have you life.”*
    Then Jesus rose from the grave, defeating it. Today, repent and trust Jesus, and God will give you eternal life as free gift. Then read the Bible daily and obey it. God will never fail you. (living waters/ray comfort)
    God bless you

      @@namapalsu2364 And by that you basically called the true Gospel of the Biblical Jesus "erroneous (...) baggage". You just *implied* that what you believe about this is different from the Gospel Scripture actually teaches. (Thanks for making my work easier.)
      Unlike you, my "denomination" isn't my God nor do I place my belief in it. I believe in and follow only the God of the Bible.
      Like instead of showing why that Gospel presentation isn't Biblical by using Scripture, you instead want to place more emphasis and focus on "catholicism vs protestant" and the "denomination" of who said this or that (instead of the actual message presented).

    • @joecardone4887
      @joecardone4887 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The Catechism comes from the Bible and tradition passed down through the Church. The Catechism highlights scripture and points out why we believe what we do. Without the Catechism there would be so much confusion and division. That’s why there are thousands of Christian denominations outside of Catholic Christians. If you don’t know what you believe and why you believe it you can make up your own denomination and Church that neglect the traditions passed down by the apostles, early church fathers, and the Church in general throughout the history of Christianity.
