Great post! I used to live in Crestline for 20 yrs. I had to drive Highway 18 everyday for work, rain, snow, falling rocks, fog, bad drivers. NEVER GOT USED TO IT. lol

I was just the driver, trying to get to our next work camping gig. Rebecca likes to see what's going on when driving, so no chance in her taking anything that will keep her from doing that. Thanks for watching. 👍🏼
I really appreciate this video! We will be visiting dogwood campground in a couple weeks with my family. My daughter who is 8 years old is terrified of heights. Last time we tried to take a trip up to the mountains and she had a panic attack. We had to turn around and go back home. Any recommendations on what I can to make the drive less scary for her? Is highway 18 less scary?
Traveling CA 18 coming up to Dogwood would keep you on the canyon side almost all the way up the mountain and might seem scarier. We'd recommend CA 330. Maybe keep your daughter up later the night before, so that she is more tired during the trip and may fall asleep. Also if you're not driving, you could sit in the back with your daughter to help calm her. Having her sit behind the driver, would put her further away from the edge of the road and may make her feel safer. If she does begin to panic during the drive, use the turnoffs to park until she is calm and try again. We hope we provided you with some helpful advice. It was one heck of a drive, especially pulling a travel trailer. But I'm sure I'll get used to going up and down the mountain, since Beefy has vet appointment every 6 wks in LA. Needless to say, Rebecca will be staying home for those trips. 😊
