DO NOT put the sponge stick ALL the way into the whirl-pak bag (around 8:10 into the video)

Yes, because the stick itself can get contaminated even while using a "sterile" glove.

Also if you grasp the sponge through the bag it is easier to remove the stick. I've had countless poor souls think they have to snap it at that midway point on the stick. Which required lots of manipulation and possible contamination.....sigh
