@@fg281 he creates the image in photoshop but hasn't said how small or big should the image be. my chauvet monogram the image is as small as a quarter,...so go figure what size should it be if we project it thru a projector

Nice setup. I've been using projectors for 20 years and I never bothered buying the new gobo projectors. Being able to make your own monograms is the way to go, plus projectors are typically more powerful. I also made my own mount by modifying a laptop stand and connecting it to a light stand mount. Saved 200.00. I had a similar problem Saturday night with the crowd since the host wanted hard rock which meant no dancing. I eventually trusted my instincts and played a maritime song by the Fables called Heave Away. The crowd came alive and cleared tables and chairs to dance. Sometimes you just have to take over.

S far, I have 1 google review. Lots of Wedding Wire and GIg Masters reviews, but those mean NOTHING for showing up on Google!

So are you moving away from using gobos and the ikon profile or is this a special occasion? I just recently bought an ikon profile a few months ago to start offering custom monogram to customers. I’m happy with it so far but I don’t really like the soft edges on some of my designs no matter how well you focus it. I also don’t like that anyone can walk by and kind of tap the power cord and the entire projector will move. Do you have any suggestions on that? Thanks

I've been thinking of getting a projector lately but wanting LED so I don't have to worry about bulbs and stuff like that even though LED projectors have limited brightness compared to LCD or DLP
from what I read but haven't seen many reviews of daytime for them. I'm a designer/animator so I can create my own designs easily.
What about the YABER or WiMiUS brands which are about $250 - $300 and advertise over 6000 Lumen and 1080p with Keystone & 8000:1 Contrast Ratio?

Hey Barr. Do you have a clamp that holds your Focus Spot 3Z on to the top plate of your totem/truss? I notice that you are using some S-Cable's to help secure the moving head. Are the S-Cable's secured enough? And have you ever had one of your moving heads fall off the totems during a gig? Also what model top plate are you using? I currently have the Duratruss/Global Truss Model SQ-4137.

Why did you feel like you were competing with those other rooms? Did the event organizers make it seem like dancing was required? I don’t think I would have worried about it so much since it was a corporate fundraiser and the crowd had so many options.
I just always panic when no one is dancing. 😓 Make me think people don't like me.

Why didn’t you use projectors instead of the TVs?
I think the projector idea would be better if you had some kind of animation or movie playing vs a gobo which projects the light through the contour shape/design you intended to use. Looks cleaner with a gobo.
Hey Bro, I think this was a nice Gig Log. You can't focus too much on packing the dance floor, there just some gigs that are like that. You can play the best dance songs and not get the dance floor packed. As a DJ I know that is are main goal but, sometimes it just happens. How do I get registered with Google and what are criteria required to register with Google.
Funny, I just got asked to do a similar event.. Do you charge for these type of events (fundraising for good causes)? If so, do you discount your fee? Or do you donate your time/fee to the cause?

Love your vids man! I was wondering if you think the projector or the ikon profile is a better investment for monograms? Im about to buy one but was thinking maybe I can do video montages and more with the projector as well
I have both... and the projector paid for itself within a year just by making the "gobos" myself. Instead of spending the $65 or so... I can still charge the same and make them at home. Besides that with a projector you can eliminate blurred edges with keystoning. You can also sell projection services, slideshows and more. :)

@@jaypas7314 I use an Optoma eh504 wifi... from everything I have read you will want over 3500 lumens (I suggest 5000 or more) and a contrast ratio of 8,000;1 or greater. The more Lumens the better you will be able to do in a lighter environment (some sunlight bleeding through windows etc..) the higher contrast ratio will help reduce the "box". This is definitely an investment but you will also be able to do video and slide shows. :) Also add color and movement.
@@djgiglogsdjswift9617 Keystoning only adjust the corners to off set the angle you are throwing the projection forms in order to square the image. You will need to play with your projector settings and adjust either brightness, contrast ratio, background settings wall color or projection color settings (movie, presentation etc...) depending on your projector. Also the distance you are projecting might be the problem. If you are in your home only about 6ft from the wall you will not get rid of it. If you are 10...or more feet depending upon a few things that "box" will be alot less noticeable. Also you might be trying it in a pitch black room. A little ambient light in the room will also hide the "box". What seems to work the best is uplights on each edge. :) You really need to try it at a venue in a real setting.
