    Amen to this brother! I have always believed that being a DJ is one of the most amazing ways to SERVE people. So many DJs make it about them, instead of putting the focus on the Bride, Groom and their families.

  • @Theferg535
    @Theferg535 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Awesome advice Barr, always helpful!
    One thing to add in reference to introduction music - If DJ's allow their Bride & Groom to pick their introduction song themselves, try to talk them in to an instrumental version, so that way you don't have vocals on top of vocals. If this doesn't work, use hot ques to trigger chorus after you introduce them! This goes for bridal party as well!

    Men this is a million dollar vlog, I wish to have that advices 4 years ago when I just started, now after this 4 yars of experience, I'm absolutely agree with any point of your advices.
    The most important in that is Charm or Charisma, its a think that you hove or not, are you boring inside of you or happy and positive, people feel this even if we don't see that, they feel that and absorb your energy, so you must deliver only positive or nothing

    Tip to new or aspiring hosts, before you start your journey you have to first LOVE PEOPLE & ENJOY MAKING THEM HAPPY

    Thank you for being so transparent with your self-esteem. There's no way I would ever think you don't have self-esteem or self confidence listening to you DJ or MC, or even make these videos. Fake it 'til you make it, I guess! haha! I have a good self esteem and I have confidence, but not when it comes to talking in front of a crowd of people I'm djing for. I can't seem to lose the timidness of just speaking to the crowd. I guess I just need to get used to doing it. I'll try these tips. Maybe I'm psyching myself out thinking I NEED to say something important, funny, or long winded. Now I know I don't HAVE to! Thank you!

    If there is any script to be had, I would say someone who has a hard time being humble and not having strong communication skill and presence is a person who would benefit from writing a script to practice privately until they memorize a certain way of being a host. I did it a lot due to my drama club days in high school, I practiced a lot! It really help me cement a presence that I've spent 15 plus years building. So I'd say go for the script if its really needed. Thanks for the great video!

    again solid advice. When I started way back when , I worked a hall called the La Fontain Bleue in MD ... they did all there own MCing but all the events we did there , they had us do them. It's just better being said by who is DJing the event. Yea agree when I first started I was so scared, you get over that quickly as time goes on. Always make your own " twist " to things and agree again never drag things out , people want to party not hear you talk or tell jokes. Great job Barr !

    So I’ve been selected to emcee our staff Christmas party in approximately 4 days.
    Keep in mind they selected me from October and it’s now December 16th and the party is on the 20th. I just received the order of the party this morning. Here’s the kicker though...I’ve never emceed in my life!
    I’m a very outspoken guy and I love mixing and mingling with people but having to actually PLAN what I have to say...kinda nerve wrecking.
    Thanks to you though...you may have saved the day for me with this video.
    My managers all think that I have the personality to do this so I really didn’t have the option to opt out, so we’ll see how this goes.
    I’ve been on numerous radio talk shows in my country so I’m not a stranger to a microphone...I’m used to being a guest, but never actually hosting and having to control the flow of things.
    It’s gonna be really interesting on Friday!

    Thanks for the tips bro! These tips are very helpful. The majority of time I DJ are at socials and community events where I typically do not have to MC, but I have been stressing about when I eventually will have to MC. Watching this video relieved some of the stress. When practicing, I’m going to include MCing. I’m DJing a wedding vowel renewal coming up in a couple of months, so I’m definitely adding some of your tips. Thanks bro
    I have also watched some of your other vlogs...I like those too.

  • @djrickyb
    @djrickyb 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great Video Barr! You ACED that bridal party intro! It's a Great feeling when we know we did a great job on MCing the intro! I do my intros very similiar to what you do, but I hype the crowd just a bit differently. I get the bride's family and friends to make a lot of noise, get napkins in the air too, and then I have the groom's family and friends do the same, then I have everyone together get super loud! ...Then I say "Alright, we are exited, let's get this bridal party in the room..." and start to introduce parents, etc. It's a good idea to have someone playing the music so you as the MC can be out on the floor. I don't do that, but if I could find someone trust worthy to work with me, I would have no problem paying $80 to $100 for someone to show up and help me with that. I'm a one man show when I do weddings.

    I always try to remember the names by heart. But will and have had a sheet of paper with the names. Usually, if the names are hard to pronounce. Phonetic spelling is key.
    I also make sure to go in the back beforehand and make sure to tell them to be in their correct places! Letting them know if they mess up where they are supposed to be it will cause the whole start to be ruined. I can’t stress this enough!
    I had this happen at one of my first weddings....It was embarrassing, as it falls on the MC.
    I am watching as I’m commenting and see you touched on this topic.
    Confidence I feel for me came over time. I remember in the beginning I was always nervous. I still will get nervous, but it’s not one of being not able to do the gig but more of being anxious to get the show going.
